I visited Denver and It took forever to find a vegan restaurant and when I finally found the Watercourse I was excited. My fiancee had their breakfast burrito and I had their Seitan burger with onion rings. He had an "organic lemonade" and I had a "strawberry lemonade" and later ordered a "strawberry shake". My fiancee who is a vegan chef himself had huge expectations. I also had high expectations due to the vegan food that I have eaten in the past.... 1.) We waited more than 30 minutes for our food. The "Organic Lemonade" : Was watery. It tasted like they used one Lemon and then just added water or that they just used Powdered lemonade and added water. The Strawberry Lemonade: It was like they just used powdered Lemonade and added beyond ripe strawberry chunks to it. The strawberries didnt look good at all. and it was soo watery in flavor that I ordered the Large Share-able strawberry Shake. The Breakfast Burrito: The breakfast burrito came out and it was a beautiful presentation It was a large burrito in green chile sauce. It looked good. When it was cut open: The inside was more Scrambled soy than anything else requested. It too, was bland. The scrambled soy was flavorless... and the only KICK of flavor was the Green Chile Sauce. The sauce was nice... and that was what gave the burrito some decency. The Seitan Cheese Burger: The burger was large and the toppings came on the side with ketchup and mustard. I put the lettuce, mustard, ketchup, and tomato and pickle in my burger, cut it in half... when I cut it in half there was a hair in it. I let a waiter know and he took it back to send out another. The Seitan burger itself... very bland and not flavorful. Even with the toppings and ketchup and mustard; it was still beyond flavorless. I took two bites and couldnt eat anymore. The onion rings: The onion rings were terrible. The onions were crispy which was good... but the breading was fluffy and bland and flavorless. I honestly didnt like it so much that I requested for some fries instead. The fries: The fries were good. They were fried well and saltless. I liked that because it allowed me to salt to my taste. The Strawberry Shake: Was decent. It was not fruity enough and they seem to have used Coconut ice cream (and almond milk at my request). It was the bright part of the meal. I give them one star because of the time it took to get our food and also because of the hair I found in my "burger". I think the food could taste better if whomever is cooking back there learns to season the food. I will not be eating there again Nor do I advise anyone eat there. Its just not that great. I honestly feel as if the people of Denver are giving them stellar reviews because they dont anything but Watercourse cuisine as vegan/vegetarian. they havent had much of anything else. so they think this is what vegan/vegetarian food is supposed to taste like and its not. Its not supposed to be bland or flavorless. I almost wanted to eat meat because I couldnt find anything worth eating in Denver.

Yesterday was my first time eating here. As a tourist trying to eat a vegan diet in Denver I didnt know what to expect. After eating there I say its A-OK! Below detailed review. Food: Is it vegan friendly? Yes it is! In fact the whole place is vegan! Is the food quality good? Yes, it is. My boyfriend and I had the "CAULIFLOWER WINGS" to start with. We chose to get half with the buffalo sauce and half with the barbecue sauce. The buffalo "wings" were a bit strong on the flavor for my taste. The barbecue "wings" were amazing! The crispy texture on the outside was great. For all the wings it was nice that the cauliflower was properly steamed yet dry, not dripping in water. I will definitely try to come back for more "wings" before my trip is over. For the main course I had the "CARBONARA" and my boyfriend had the "CLASSIC BURGER". I had not had anything with the words Carbonara in it since I stopped eating meat about 4 years ago. The Carbonara was delicious and so filling! I could not finish my meal, but it was good because I got to take some back to the hotel with me for late night munchies. My boyfriend also did not finish his Classic Burger. I cant complain about the food portions here. The beer selection was pretty decent too. It was not too large, however it was nice to see a variety of local brews. If it wasnt for the buffalo "wings" I would have said the food is a perfect score. Other than that everything is great. I want to eat here again an try more of their menu items! Cleanliness/comfort: During my visit, the place was spotless. As far as comfort, our booth was wide and quite comfortable indeed. Have I mentioned how much I like eating in booths? They offer a nice sense of privacy. I liked how our booth faced the window too, it allowed us for people watching. Its a very nice relaxing environment. The music level was just right too, loud enough to create ambience but quiet enough to have a conversation. At WaterCourse Foods I also saw some people on their laptop. If I lived in Denver, I would probably come by with my laptop too. Customer service: Our waiter was very friendly. He allowed us good time to order our food without being pushy as some other waiter at other establishments tend to be. At the end of our meal when we asked for a box to take the leftovers home he was quick to come to the rescue. Other comments: The place also sells their own merchandise and vegan cookbooks. Overall, all I can say is this place met all my expectations. Its so great to see more vegan restaurants popping up, and my restaurants I mean real restaurants, not just a juice bar that sells vegan wraps. WaterCourse Foods has my seal of approval!

Excited to come here based on recommendations from vegan friends who once lived in Denver. We ordered the cauliflower "wings" to share as an app and I decided on the monti pasta dish with zucchini noodles while my friend went with the jambalaya. The cauliflower wings came out quickly and had flavorful sauces (we went 1/2 buffalo and 1/2 BBQ) but the breading lacked crunch and the whole thing was just kind of greasy and mushy and heavy. The accompanying blue cheese dip was fine, but nothing to get excited about. We ate less than half of it. When our entrees came out, I was a little put out to see the mess that was set in front of me, it looked like it had been pre-chewed and then covered with cream sauce. The sauce covering the monti pasta was WAAAAAYYY too heavy for my tastes, there was too much of it, and it tasted strongly of coconut- strangely out of place with the italian flavors of the dish. Worst of all the vegetables were all over cooked- it was a limp and unappealing mess that tasted no better than it looked. My friends Jambalaya was nicely plated, but over-all was lacking in flavor- it needed a few more pinches of love and some time on the stove at low heat for the flavors to develop and meld. The components of the dish were all cooked well enough, but it tasted like the dish was assembled in a pan using pre-cooked rice, beans, sausage, etc- and jambalaya is an all day on the stove kind of dish, if you arent going to invest the time to do it right the results will always be disappointing. In the end we left most of both dishes on the plates, and when the waitress asked if we wanted the left-overs boxed up we said no thanks. Despite having eaten lightly though, what we did eat was so heavy we were both a bit uncomfortable on the walk home. So disappointing, I really wanted to love this place but with all three of the dishes we tried falling so short I dont think I could recommend it for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, with soothing decor and interesting art on the walls. All the people around us seemed to be enjoying their food, so perhaps we just had bad luck with what we ordered? If I lived in the area I might go back and try again as I love to support vegan restaurants and there were some interesting items on the breakfast menu.
