Im a beer geek (homebrewer as well), so this place definitely quenches my thirst. Im from out of town, but try to get in here when Im in town on business. The beer selection is OUTSTANDING. All sorts of great things that I dont get in California, and they strive to make sure every beer on tap is interesting. Yes, they often are out of things on their beer list, but thats the price you pay for having a high-mix offering -- printed beer menus cant quite keep up with whats on tap. As for food, its greasy bar food. As someone who has consumed quite a lot of greasy bar food, its pretty good example of the genre. But if youre going here expecting fine dining, youre going to be disappointed. What they do, they do well. Service when Ive been there has been okay, though sometimes slow. Generally Ive never experienced rudeness except when my moronic coworker is also there, pestering the server with stupid questions. But I dont blame the server for that; I get short with him when hes asking me stupid questions too, so I know how they feel. Overall if youre in the mood for GREAT beer, decent food, and all without breaking the bank, you wont do too much better than the Falling Rock.

My first impression was great. The atmosphere seamed good and the bar tender was quick to help us with change for a meter. They have a great selection of beer. but this is where things go sour. We grabbed a table and after about five minutes were approached by a server with the worst attitude I have ever seen out of a server. Not a "hello," not a "hi my name is," not even a smile, just "what do you want to drink?" When I asked him about a beer his description was bleak. He just had an attitude about him that inferred "you people dont belong here." Luckily another server took over in the middle of him "helping" us. Maybe she saw what was happening and stepped in. Her service was much more friendly but she did not come by often enough. Our glasses sat empty and we had decided on food for a while before we got to place our order (I have to add that they werent busy by any means). As for the food, it was mediocre, even for bar food. Good beer is like good wine it should be paired well with food. I may give them a second chance, but Im not eager to get there any time soon.

I will never come here again. Ive been numerous times, always tip in upwards of fifty percent, and have never had a problem. I know good beer, and Im not a snob. I asked a simple abv question about a beer and got a seemingly inconvenienced answer. Then the tender ignored me for a solid thirty minutes while helping others. I came in with three friends, and we all ordered beers on separate tabs. They insisted it would be easier to break it up at the end.. So when we did, no more than 8 beers between the four of us, they became very flustered and rude about it. Like we did something wrong, even though this is how they wanted to do it in the first place. I still tipped 20%. Not to mention I paid for my friends first two pours and then he paid for them as well, while being treated as inconveniences. For the record we never once got rude or snippy. Only received that behavior. I love the best beers, but I refuse to be a part of the snob herd. Never again...

The Tap House, which opened its doors at 1919 Blake Street in Denvers historic lower downtown (LoDo) in 1997, has over 69 beers on tap and even more beers in bottles. All the beer on tap is craft brewed, which means there are no contract brews or megaswill. Coupled with the beer selection and an extensive food menu, pool tables, dartboards and comfortable atmosphere, the Tap House thrives nestled in the oldest and original settlement of the city of Denver, a prime example of urban reinvestment and revitalization. Chris Black, the Tap Houses owner, head beer geek and King, is in charge of beer and said recently, "Im really glad the people of Denver supported us enough that were still here," said Black, "We just wanted it to be about the beer and it really has been about the beer." Stop in for a beer or 9. Youll be glad you did.

Pretty good but a few things were different. Beers on tap were good , choices almost two much and not a lot of knowledge about new additions. Wouldnt recommend the firewalker easy jack, way to fruity like a bitter orange. Food was great, really good. Battered mushrooms and pepper jack cheese sticks were beyond awesome and blue cheese burger was fantastic. Pool tables were barely playable. There were only two sticks that werent broke. Every other stick was missing ends. Tables were not level, balls had chips in them. I wouldnt really say much as it was free but they do have billiards in their name on Google. I probably wouldnt have said anything, but when you advertise a feature it should be at least semi functional. Most people arent looking for the pool tables though, its pretty much staking its claim with 50 beers on tap.

Favorites at our table were the Tamale plate and the Buffalo burger, by far the best portion was the green chile. It really brought the Tamales to another level. We also had it on the Buffalo burger and it was a welcome touch. Their Veggie burger wasnt great. It had a grainy texture and without the basil pesto mayo, the burger was quite plain. One of us was vegetarian and dairy free and this burger left something to be desired. Personally I had a difficult time with their on tap beer menu, mainly it focuses on IPAs. It has very few saisons, session IPAs, Gose, German Pilsners, and reasonably priced sours (most were around $20). After leaving, we felt greasy and even though this is a classic pub, it could be better.

What can I say... its a man cave! I have been a regular of this bar for years. For bar food, its really good. My coworkers and I recommend the 420 wings (not spicy, just really good), philly cheese steak, south western chicken sandwich, or just a good old fashioned burger (buffalo is best). Service never has been a strong point here, but what can I say its a man cave! Be patient, enjoy a specialty brew that youre not likely to have anywhere else, and take a load off. If youre in a rush, dont bother... .if you demand cheap-o Americana beer (Coors, Bud, Michelob... you know your kind).... go back to the real Lodo... they know YOUR kind :) ....

Summary: Not great service, they dont split cheques, and mice on the patio Tuesday night at 9pm (read:empty bar) I met some friends here, they were already seated and drinking. After waiting 10 mins I walked to the bar to order, the waiter intercepted me and told me irritatedly he would come over and take my order. Took another 10mins but I did get my beer eventually (good selection). Its written on the menu, so its not a surprise, but it bothers me that they dont split cheques. I walked outside to take a phone call and got to watch 3 mice run around the patio snatching up food scraps. I know were downtown and it was outside, but its still gross.
