Perhaps the only thing more tired, worn-out, and heartless than the waitstaff here at Breakfast King, is the decor. Suspended lighting fixtures with exposed wiring, carpet that was installed around the same time as the original wood paneling, and the "SmokeEater" mounted above the tables keeping watch over the dining room. These things could have been chalked up to "character" and "the good ole days" if the rest of the experience wasnt also as hideous. The waitresses, in their 60s diner garb, would have been quaint if their attitudes matched their attire. Instead, youre greeted and served with the warmth and hospitality of a womens correctional facility guard who just broke up with her boyfriend. The Warden, who may have been the owner or manager, stood in the corner of the dining area looking generally annoyed at the patrons. The waitress who served us, continuously had someplace better to be and clearly had little need or utility for small talk like, "Youre welcome" and "Thank you". After straining her attention to the absolute maximum during the entire 52 seconds we were allotted to place our order, we were than treated to the staff shouting across the room, hostess barking "HOW MANY ARE YOU" in our ears and just general chaos. I ordered a "Fresh Orange Juice" which is probably tantamount to false advertising as Im fairly certain it contained 0% juice and likely more chemicals than a DuPont R&D lab. The hash browns were the remnants of a potato that had been shoved through a 90s salad shooter and then slammed onto a grill, resulting in what can only be described as fried mashed potatoes. The "gravy" was from a bag or a can and was about as "home made" as the tap water in the glass, I suspect that the bread deliveries occur about as frequently as the carpet cleanings. All in all, a $30 breakfast experience for two. For $30 dollars, I could have rented a room at a Motel 2 and had a continental breakfast of about the same quality. How this establishment has stayed open for as long as it has, and how it has very nearly the same rating as a restaurant like "Elways", I cannot say. My guess is that these 4 and 5 star ratings can only be coming from folks who would rate McDonalds as a "fine dining experience" and/or people who are in some way perpetually intoxicated. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but in this case, breakfast was a meal that left you feeling like you needed to be in proximity to a restroom for the remainder of the morning.

Been here so many times. Food and service was always awesome, until today. I ordered a chicken fried steak extra crispy. What did i get a not so crispy in fact it wasnt even hot. Like it had been sitting there from an old order. When i told the waitress she asked me twice like she didnt believe me. Took my plate gave no apology, and had the cook microwave it eggs and all. When i told her this she told me "yes he microwaved it" like really? If i wanted microwaved food i would have stayed home. She took the plate back to the manager they spoke and had a new order made. Did the manager come address the issue?? Of course not! Why would he? Not like its not in his job description right? So no apologies from management nor the waitress. When i spoke to the manager this man acted as if he knew nothing of the matter. And started trying to argue. I never write these kinda reviews but this experience left me stunned. I loved this place until today. I will not be coming here anymore. And to me thats sad. Cause not only do i love this place so does my family and they wont be coming either..

Meh... We tried Breakfast King for the first time today and was pretty excited. We left rather disappointed. First off, the wait staff was super friendly and treated us better than most other places weve been. The food: My wife ordered the supreme breakfast burrito and the green chili was good... According to the menu, it was supposed to have sausage, bacon and pork inside but had none at all. It was filled completely with potatoes and a small amount of egg. It is necessary to add, that inside the burrito was a 1/4 or more of a solid potato which made it all the more unappetizing. Not good. I had the eggs Benedict, which was decent but the poached eggs were mostly missing and the canadian bacon was so small and thin that it was almost an afterthought. The hollandaise sauce was likely from a can and smothered most of the dish. We also had two pancakes which were over cooked and quite brown. As a result, they lacked any fluff and did not have much flavor. We will not return, but thank you for the good service.

I was in Denver for business and wanted somewhere to get breakfaat before my 9 hour drive home. I read the reviews of this place and thought "eh, Ill try it". I come from the Midwest and Deep south so I like to think I know comfort food and I must say this place beat my expectations. I felt right at home the moment I walked in and my waitress was quite frankly the best I have ever had. She refilled my drinks without having to be asked and checked up on me before i had realized I needed something. The food was amazing, tasted just like my dad had cooked it when I was little and the serving size was perfection. I only waited for 15 minutes (maybe) before it was placed in front of me piping hot (they were busy at this time as well). I will be returning here for food if I am ever in Denver again, and I will look forward to tasting the marvelous food again.

Weve made the Breakfast King an annual tradition on the morning after the company Christmas party. We like ti so much, we really should go more often. The restaurant has been around for what seems like forever. Its a small diner with delicious cheap food. The pancakes are huge and tasty. This time I ordered the Santa Fe Sunrise (I think that is what it was called), which is hash browns smothered in green chile, onions, and cheese served with a side of eggs and toast.. My doctor is not going to be pleased with me eating this heart attack on a plate, but it was hard to resist. Service was very fast and friendly. All the servers are decked out in Christmas outfits and provide plenty of holiday cheer. Like I said, we really need to go here more often.

Not welcoming at all! The restaurant was nice and clean but the service was dirty. My son husband and I were here to have breakfast and we sat in our obviously assigned seats for twenty minutes until I ask the host if our server was coming to take our order. She then came to the table didnt introduce herself and ask what we were going to have. We have been here almost a half hour now only long enough to order and even if the food is sensational which I doubt, we wont be back. Of the three servers and manger/owner who spoke to us, no one noticed we sat here forever with nothing in front of us. Breakfast King:. Food 7, cleanliness 8, Service Booooooo!

Best Breakfast in Denver!!! They dont have the exotic pancakes or omelets (unless thats the special) but other than that they have every breakfast you can imagine. And both the price and quality of the food is much better than IHOP or Village Inn. Plus add in the traditional diner feel. The food portions are very generous. In the last 3 years since my discovery/giving in to the morning drive bys Ive never once had something I didnt like, never had to wait for a seat, never had bad service, and I dont think Ive ever been charged for a cup of coffee! I could go on and on but really you have to try it to get why this place is so fantastic!
