What a disappointment! After reading all of the reviews I was expecting something special, but all this place offered was a ho hum selection of standard Italian fare, mediocre presentation and a bickering wait staff that was unable to keep their backroom drama out of the dining room. I lived in Italy for over fifteen years, so I have had my share of various Italian cuisines. The items on the menu here run the gamut of the standards that youd find in any trattoria in Italy. We went with mostly the specials of the evening, with the exception of the octopus, which is on the standard appetizer menu. I always get octopus when its on the menu, because it is a tricky thing to get right, and if the octopus is done well its likely everything else will be amazing. Sadly, the octopus, while not chewy, lacked any texture. Served mundanely with cherry tomatoes and green beans, this dish did not impress. The rest of the dinner was pretty much the same. We tried a pasta dish, a veal entree and the foie gras appetizer. You could see in each an attempt to be something special, but the execution was just not there. The presentation was old fashioned, with rosemary sprigs stuck into mashed potatoes and drizzles of things in vertical patterns across the plate. Our waiter was taciturn and rude. We had brought our own bottle of wine, a delicious Australian red that had been given to us as a wedding gift. It is not a cheap wine by any means, and it being a special occasion,we decided to have it with the dinner. The waiter quibbled with my wife about whether this red deserved a decanter or not. As decanting a red is a matter of opinion and personal taste ,a good waiter should just do as the patron requests. Instead, our guy examined the label of the wine and hemmed and hawed before begrudgingly going off to fetch a decanter. Later I would hear him cursing in Italian to other staff members about something happening behind the scenes. Clearly not a good night for the poor fellow, but still, as the face of the restaurant to the diners, a good waiter should be more personable. All in all, I found the restaurant over priced and overrated.

This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! Great fancy and sophisticated Italian food and wine. Chef Mure is by far my favorite on the high level restaurant scene. My husband and I have been following him from restaurant to restaurant, always impressed by the superb level of food and interesting combination on the menu and on the wine list. It used to be called Ado, now, after remodeling they change the name to Barrique, so better location, same high level food and service. The place was cool before but now it is really one of the top: a warm and sophisticated design with a very cute patio outside. I definitely recommended it for business dinners, romantic evening or even if you want to treat yourself with the best food in town.

Really wanted to love this place but frankly the service ruined it. We had a reservation for 9.15 but host messed up and thought shed seated us but didnt until we chased her down, sat down at 9.50. Pasta was among best Ive ever had, certainly in the US. Table service was adequate but did also forgot things like bread/water. While they cant control this, clientele all drive BMWs and theres some loud assholes around. Maybe because it was V day they all came out to play. Will try again hoping service was just once off because food was genuinely delicious

Beautiful romantic location for a nice dinner. The service is impeccable. The only reason for the 3 stars is because they sat us in the top floor on an extremely small table in front of the stairs. It was annoying to pay so much for the food and have it be ruined by the servers and people going up and down the stairs. The space between the table we were in and the stairs was so small that our server had to move around as he was recommending food from the menu because of the people squishing behind him. Other than that, everything was A+

A true favorite place to go for consistently amazing meals and charming service. Commit to a bottle of wine because the single glasses quickly add up!! The specials of pasta are always amazing, the servers have extensive wine knowledge, every dish is delicious and its hard to decide. We always get Carpaccio and the watercress salad. Favorite is the Pappardelle pasta w Rabbit Ragout. Incredible. The meats are so perfectly prepared. Good luck deciding. Been here a half dozen times. Look forward to each meal!!

This was THE MOST OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING dinner I have had in a very long time. Loved the location and atmosphere - cozy, romantic! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and helpful in making menu choices. The food was just excellent all around - a fantastic fantastic gem of a place! We ordered the sea scallops, prosciutto & burrata and foie gras special for antipasti and then shared the home made pasta with meat sauce and sea bass and it was all to die for. Will most definitely be back...

Wie had a blast of a time at your cozy place. Very hospitable people working there, seems to be a family business. And thats how you are treated - like a family member. No hurry - even though we stayed for almost four hours. Even more, they offered us espresso and cappuccino on the house. And of course (last, but not least): Our meals were excellent. Cucina Italiana at its best!!! Looking forward to our next visit!

Enjoyed a great Italian meal in a quaint location. Four of us shared appetizers, with the frois gras and roasted pear topping the list. We all had pasta dishes with each one with a strong Rahu with a different protein. Each was unique and tasty. The wine list was varied and very approachable. A strong restaurant in a location with many strong competitors.

Ado is simply the best italian food I have had outside of Italy these days. The staff not only creates great Italian dishes, they are using great ingredients and the specials are always perfect. The seating is small and very intimate...Making it all the more Italian. I Love this food and will definitely come back again and again and you should too!

One of my favorite Italian spots anywhere - consistently delicious pastas, fishes and meats served by thick accented Italians in an intimate and cozy setting. Their beet pasta in ragu sauce is nothing short of heavenly as is just about everything else on the menu. Make sure to make a reservation, you wont get in without one!

Outlandish, ebullient and inspired chef Tony Mure (won Chopped easily) in a totally funky ramped little house setting with about the best rustic and refined Italian food in town. Formally ADO -- Cafe Ado is still on Washington Street in the Marina.

Authentic Italian in every sense, a variety of dishes from appetizer to dessert with heart and soul poured into every one, friendly staff, perfect for either romantic date or night out with friends. And the beet pasta. Eat the beet pasta.

Easy to miss restaurant (I lived in Venice for 2 years before I knew it was there!), but well worth a visit. A bit pricey, but oh so tasty. The salads are fresh and authentic, the meat is amazing. Everyone is extremely friendly, too.

Amazing Amazing Amazing! We cannot wait to go back! The food melts in your mouth and there are so many interesting dishes! We sat out side on the patio and it was very romantic and great service. Very extensive wine list as well!
