I dont even know where to begin. Our server seemed to be having an off night, she was "out to lunch". The sushi was relatively timely but the teriyaki took 40 minutes. We were a party of seven with four children all but one eat sushi. We ordered sushi, two teriyaki platters and an order of chicken skewers for the three year old. The server never bothered to tell us that they were skewered with jalipeno type peppers and wouldnt be a good choice. When it came I explained i couldnt give this to her and asked if it was possible to accomodate the youngest. She was rude and and snipped that it would take a long time. i promptly told her nevermind. The tuna in my hand roll was either from a blender or the sushi chef didnt know when to stop chopping. Either way is was far from the best. The happy hour prices are decent but their regular menu prices are very high for the quality and amount of food. I think you should get more than a half of chicken breast for the $12.50 teriyaki platter. The sushi menu offered was very limited. only about a dozen rolls to choose from. Most Sushi restaurant have atleast 35 different rolls and then some! All in All after spending over $100.00 we left there and drove back into downtown LA to eat because everyone was still hungry. I would have attempted to order more out of ceonvenience if the service wasnt so slow. If you are thinking of trying it... DONT. It was the first and last $100.00 we will spend there. Not child friendly Food was poor quality Servers are Rude

ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere saved this place from getting a two-star rating from me. I would sit in the patio area if I visited again, which I probably will not do. The inside restaurant area seemed a little stuffy in respect to air circulation. The patio area is kick back with some tables and a full bar. Theres a TVs and projection screens running, so theres lots to look at and ponder when youre eating/drinking/talking. Its really loud here. You sometimes feel like youre having to talk over everyone else just to get a conversation going. SERVICE: Our server was very attentive, but some of the sushi did take a while to get to us. Most sushi places that I rate highly are the ones that can time your order to where the flow seems to be non-stop, but not overwhelming. Hama has intermittent sushi service where the flow is stopped short at times and you have to sit there and wait for your next order. PRICING: Wow.....$250.00 for 4 people and two of us left still hungry. QUALITY: The sushi is mediocre to average. We werent in heaven over the stuff.

I went to this restaurant last night and it was the worst thing ever! The host and servers were great but when our food came out everything went downhill. I ordered the lobster miso soup which was okay but the sushi was so dry and bland that it was hard to swallow without using water to assist. The teryaki beef was DISGUSTING and looked old and the rice that came with it was also so dry that i could not swallow it. Even the soy sauce that they used was disgusting and cheap tasting, I would never recommend this to anyone!! My friend wasted $67.71!!!

Looks like a cool place and bar was busy. Went and got a to go order as it received such high reviews. Havent eaten at the restaurant, BUT wouldnt get a to go order from here. Very very fishey, rolls ended up soggey. We do to-go sushi all the time at other restaurants...never this bad. Spent $83 to have sushi go straight in the trash. Called and gave feedback, and just received "sorry, and thanks for letting us know".

I loved dining at this low-key but solid Japanese restaurant that had a great selection of both cooked and sushi options. My colleague and I dined at the sushi bar and enjoyed our meal which consisted of generous portions of avocado roll (solid), chicken yakitori (yum), gyoza (pretty good, but a little bland), udon and a dragon roll. The drinks are large and strong, the staff friendly and the vibe pleasant.

Hama Sushi in Venice, you always come through for me. We managed to be the last patrons in the door before they closed up at 1 am last Saturday night after a night of drinking in Venice. I got the spicy Sushi as per usual, which somehow managed to be even more delicious in my Hama Sushi haze. Portions are great, prices are reasonable, and the food delivers. Love this place!

A jumping, casual, crazy place--would you expect anything different in Venice Beach? Hama is packed and raucous. Dont go there to have an intimate meal and deep conversation. Id suggest instead a few drinks at the bar and for you to join in the fun. The chefs know their stuff and the volume of customers ensures that the selection of fish is always fresh.

Great atmosphere and delicious food. The presentation of the chefs and servers is all part of the experience, so fun to watch! Everything on the menu is fairly priced in my opinion, though I will say that the specialty rolls are a bit pricey. The taste is worth trying at least one to share if youre splitting the bill with a friend.

Was expecting pretty mediocre sushi here but it was quite good considering the price! I dont believe its related to the Hama in little Tokyo and doesnt feel like it is either, lots of speciality rolls and non sushi items, all were pretty good. Get the shishto peppers, Karage and a couple of rolls and youll be good to go.

When I went to this restaurant, there were already a lot of people. I sat at the bar enjoying hot sake and draft beer. You might feel that sushi is pricey. However, everything I had was delicious and staffs were so kind and frinedly. Tony, who is a manager, was kind and nice.

Love Hama! Been coming to Hama for 5 years now, still the best! The service is good, food is great, and the patio bar is where I seat usually. Love the Green Devil with sp. tuna inside, Strawberry is awesome, and the ono sushi seared with garlic soy is one of my favorites!

Extremely expensive food poisoning. We all got sick after eating here. Sushi tasted old, and we ordered 4 rolls. Wine tasted like it had been opened and left out over the weekend. I dont know why this place was packed!
