As luck would have it, exactly a day after my trip to Radhe Chaat, a North Indian vegetarian eatery on El Camino Real, this side of Lawrence Expressway, I had a chance to go to a very similar place on the other side of Lawrence. India Chaat Cuisine is a relatively new place not too far from India Cash and Carry/ Komala Vilas complex in Sunnyvale. It was a Saturday night and we were 7 of us including 3 kids. The place was packed to the hilt and we waited for about 20 minutes to get a table. The restaurant seems large from the outside but seating is not as much when you get in. We got seated and a waiter with an iPad showed up instantly to get our orders. We had three tired, sleepy and hungry kids and got to ordering pretty quickly. I had a weird sense of deja vu seeing so much commonality in the menu with Radhe Chaat which was less than a quarter mile away down the same road. For comparison, I ordered a plate of sabudana vada similar to the one I had ordered at Radhe Chaat. We also ordered a whole bunch of food given the hungry folks at the table. For the kids, we ordered a mildly spiced Paneer tikka masala to go with their rotis and puris. For adults, there was a thali order, malai kofta, kadhi pakora curry, Thalipeeth, and a mysore masala dosa (yes, you read that right). It was interesting to see a Chaat place carrying north Indian and south Indian food. The food started arriving soon. The sabjis/curries were good without being great. The Thali was good as was the chaas that came with it. The Thalipeeth was good but lacked a vegetable which was disappointing given that it was being pitched as a full entree. The Mysore masala dosa was heavy and decent. The food went in pretty quickly but the surprise came afterwards. All of us who consumed the curries had the tips of our fingers stained reddish yellow. No amount of soap could get rid of it. It took me a whole day and multiple soap washes to get it out. Any food item, as good as it tastes, if it leaves such a strong color on my fingers is not cool. I hope the restaurant addresses this quickly. Rating: Ambiance: 7.75/10. Not much to write about. Nothing that stood out. Service: 8/10. Food and service was quick overall but one minor gripe. The person taking the order insisted that we think through and get our order right since she wouldnt be able to make changes once she pressed Enter on her iPad menu ordering system. These days when service is paramount in the industry, often times I hear folks telling me to try and if we dont like the food, return it for something else or a refund. While I dont expect this from every restaurant, it would be nice to not be told explicitly that there would be no backing out from an order. Food: 7.5/10. If not for the coloring, this would have been a 8.25. I had no complaints with the taste of the food. It was pretty good actually. Price: 8.25/10. Price is reasonable. For a dinner table of 7 with three kids, we ended up with a bill of $82. Restroom: 8/10. The restroom was decent. Overall: 7.75/10. If not for the coloring, this would have scored a 8.25/10. Hope they address this soon. Otherwise, the food tasted good.

Used to be one of the hot spot for maharashtrian food, I havent been here since last 8 months or so due to tight work schedule outside of Cali. Just out of the blue, craving for vada-pav bought back my fond memories of this place and paying a visit became a must. Right after entering I felt a very weird aura surrounding this place, the vibrancy, enthusiasm, cleanliness and customer service was all gone, some young chap in broken english greeted us and I enquired about Sameer Patil who used to be the co-owner of this place and figured out that he has parted ways. Obviously, next I open my yelp app and was shocked to see the ratings drop below desired levels and frustrated reviews creeping up, anyways I still ordered vada-pav of which the vada kind of retained the old charm but what was frustrating is the prices has been jacked up to 3.50$/piece and the thickness of the Pav has dropped to that of a Roti. After paying the bill I bid a final Adios to this place, never to return back.

Their service and food has steeply deteriorated over time. When they started off they had great service and a good selection of Maharashtrian food which honestly is very rare in the Bay Area. Their Vada Pav and Zunka Bhakar is what kept me wanting to revisit this place. Although now their service is pathetic and Ive had bad experiences on the last 3 occasions. Given that they had good food, I ignored their service but I cant take it anymore. I ordered their Paneer Sizzler and the Paneer was as hard as an eraser. I couldnt break it with my fork. When I approached the waiter he mentioned that it might be because its been a while since it was cooked. We had to wait for 40 minutes until they served us water or took our order. I thought it might be a busy week but I got the same pathetic service on the next 3 visits. The only good thing about this place is their Vada Pav. But I would highly recommend calling ahead and doing a take out. I am not going to visit this place again.

I had heard that this place was old i.e. its been there longer than most nearby restaurants. Naturally my expectations for authentic Indian cuisine were a bit high. Alas, it was the most bland and boring taste experience Id ever had amongst Indian restaurants! Several things I tried. The chaat was the worst. Dahi Puri and Bhel were too far from original. They had their own different taste than authentic Indian chaat and it wasnt good. Lets say I didnt feel like eating. On the contrary, Ragada Patty was good. Vada Pav. The vada is really good. But the pav is small bun they give which takes away the aesthetic of original vada pav. Parathas are also alright. All in all, Indian chaat fails at Indian Chaat Cuisine. But if you long for a vada pav, this place deserves a visit. The customer service is quick but poker-faced.

Such a poor poor place to eat chaat, very ironic considering its called India Chaat Cuisine. We ordered pani puri and dahi papdi chaat, and what we were given was fresh out of refrigerator pani and alu for the pani puri and ice cold masala for the papdi chaat. What happened next is even more delicious because when asked about the ice cold chaat, the manager said thats how it is. What a joke of a place.

This was my go to spot till 2014 but then it got really crowded with loud music. Tables are not roomy even if two people are eating here. So if you end up buying more than 2 items then you will be spending time on being creative on where to keep the food items. Love their vada pav and usually get to-gos. Food is delicious and fresh. Appetizers are delicious and vada pav is the best in entire bay area.

Good food... Tried Manchurian once and quantity was good ... buffet is also good, recently hiked up a dollar or so however still reasonable price ... Vada pav and missal pav is also very good - Chole batura/puri - was bit on sweeter side, batura was large and chole was not enough - Pav bhaji was ok (i didnt have any issues, my wife had some stomach burning though, not sure if due to the food)
