I went here with my coworkers based on someones suggestion. The food was okay. The service, I have to agree with the others, were upsetting. I was OK with preparing our own water, plates, and forks. But, when we can in a big group and obviously confused (it was our first time there), I expected them to at least tell us where to get the water pitcher, plates, silverwares, or napkins. We werent shy about our confusion. We talked loudly asking each other whether we needed to prepare the table ourselves. We were also confused with the lackness of menu provided on the table. One of my coworker asked the lady on the counter but she didnt answer. In the end we looked around the restaurant and found everything ourselves including the weather pitcher hidden inside the soda fridge.

Shalimar has authentic Pakistani food that gets served to you in an authentic Pakistani street-side restaurant environment... in other words, the place is not a palace, our anything near, that. My Pakistani grandparents rave about this place, but I generally hate it. The kitchen looks filthy, the servers throw food at you with not so much as a word. The food is not brought out at the same time, so one person is usually done eating before the other even gets to start. On, top of all this, they dont even have salty lassi. How can a Pakistani restaurant but have salty lassi... I dont even know. Dont even bother asking is they can make it... youll just get a rude "No." On the up side, if you have never had cow brain before, this is the place to get it!

I dont post bad reviews, but this story is worth sharing. My family visited me from Canada and I took them to Shalimar for dinner. We ordered naan, haleem, kababs, tandoori chicken, karahi chicken and biryani. The chicken had blood coming out of it, the kababs were more dry than the desert, the biryani was full of oil and haleem tasted like cardboard. We literally had a few bites hoping one dish would taste descent but eventually returned all the meals. They didnt refund the price but told us to revisit and we would have a better experience. I returned today and the food was mediocre again and they billed me for the full price. Atrocious experience and would not recommend. *Also dont go in the bathroom - you will feel dirtier coming out of it

The good. Cash only. (not necessarily good) but may be thats why is it is at reasonable price. Non veg food is tasty. The bad. Food is very oily. Dishes, water and other oddities are self service. When you go to pick plates dont be surprised if you see plates that arent washed thoroughly. Wait time is bit more than normal. The ugly. When i went the guy at the cashier was a somewhat older man. Just before billing my wife warned me that he charged some extra items for the chinese guy before us and asked me to be careful. So I did my billing before hand. My return was 14 bucks. He gave me 4 bills. Normally i just put the returns in my pocket. But since I was already wary I am immediate to ask the $10. He didnt even apologize while giving the $10.

Halal Meat is served here. This place is straight up Pakistani, so please dont call it Indian food:)! (real Indian food is strictly vegetarian). Out of the 4 locations of Shalimar that I have been to, this one is probably the best one in terms of being able to get a seat and also having everything on the menu (i have only eaten in twice here though:))! Try the chicken tikka boti, the CTM (chicken Tikka Masala), the seekh kabobs (lamb), the garlic naan and top it off with some mango lassi. Dont forget the complimentary chai at the end:)! And oh yeah, you will probably have to use the facilities shortly after eating here, but its worth it:)! They sometimes take ATM card (if they feel like it), but otherwise its mostly CASH ONLY.

Well if you are trying to get a GROUPON deal, BEWARE as the manager will play around to make it seem like you have ordered for the entire Groupon amount of 30$ when in fact you might have ordered only for about 22 or 25. And in our case he informed us that the dish weordered was out of stock after we placed the order after careful consideration. And the garlic naan is in name only - could not find any garlic. The food did not seem worth the 19$ for the Groupon - was oily, not tasty and there were about 5 paneer cubes in a 8$ curry. Asked for fresh naan, seems like they just reheated the old naan. Also, as has been written by other reviewers before me, a bad ambience (unclean) just diminishes any remnant eating experience.

This is real Indian food and it is spicy and delicious. Full disclosure, Im not Indian. But I love spicy food, and I come from a place that was heavily influenced by Indian cuisine. Shalimar was first suggested by my Indian friends, and we all really enjoy soaking up curry with aloo paratha (sp?). We also always have a tandoori chicken leg and frequently have the kababs. On my most recent visit it appears to be under new management. I never minded the place before, but it seems much cleaner now. So glad I came back after being away for a few years (due to changing job situation). If the flavor of the food is top priority, this is your restaurant.

This was the worst meal Ive eaten in a long, long time. Every table in the place (except for one) had left-over dirty dishes on it, and no one was cleaning them up. We sat at the only table that was "clean". They ran out of forks and spoons so there wasnt enough silverware for our party. No one was there providing service. Literally no one. We accidentally spilled water and all the wait staff was hiding in the back or something and we couldnt get anyone to come out and clean it up. Naan was good, rice was OK (a bit stale/pre-cooked). The channa masala was excruciatingly bland, and everything else was way over-spiced. Yuk.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon. We both thought the food was very tasty, however the cleanliness of the restaurant left something to be desired. The bathrooms were awful and we even saw some spots on the silverware. The plates or plastic. We met the owner who was very nice and cordial to us. He told us the location was in the midst of a possible remodel so we chalked it up to that. Even though we really enjoyed the food it is hard to give it a high rating because of the cleanliness issue. I think we will visit again in a couple months to see if anything has improved.

Food was okay but two times I went there that two unknowingly and both time I had argument with the manager. First time he gave me wrong order and after he corrected the order he didnt give me my balance money which I should get after he corrected my togo order. Second time I reached there and the place reminded of above incident and this time we payed for the tea which was complimentary. When I asked why I he didnt tell us that its complimentary , he said we have made special tea for you. So I also tested complimentary tea which was exact same as mine.. He dont know how to talk to customers.
