Being just off the 101 is nice because you get less out of towners and more locals. In fact most people walk here versus drive, thats another reason the parking lot is filled with taxi cabs and not cars. It gets popping on any random weeknight. I hear they do goldfish races and other seasonal events. Bartenders are good, but they dont offer near the beer selection Id like (probably a licensing limit on their taps), but since they re-opened (hadnt been here in years) under new ownership they revamped a lot. They have a personal favorite Magic Hats Not Quite #9. An amazing Vermont brewery who managed to get their famous beer at stores and bars with surprising frequency out here now (Compass). The stage is small, but fits a dozen people, probably 20 if it gets crazy. The bouncers do their job, but arent jerks, Ive had good convos with a few of them. Though I didnt vape inside I did catch someone else doing it with an ego. I choose not to here because of size and my set up blows clouds. Full bar, more top shelf glass than Id expect, but nothing mixologisty fancy. No fresh mint and basil infused kool whip martinis if thats what your coming here for. Its always going to have this local vibe, this pubish feel, but the fresh leather and high seating along the wall and the wood give off this country vibe. They have a good jukebox with most of your favorite hits, even new ones. The DJ on Wednesdays is good, he really listens to the crowds physical feedback instead of going off into his own little world during a set. It can be a sausage fest, so I suggest you bring your own talent. The dancefloor has terrible ventilation and I have a tendancy to take off my shirt anyhow, bad combination. Oh yeah and their drinks are cheap a vast majority of the time. Weekends, its about average, but I consider this a weeknight only bar. There is more excitement to be had than this quiet coastal spot. On a weekend. Played some house, some EDM, some pop, some top 40 something for everyone, no country though. The strange thing is the crowd often swells before 11, but dies by 12 and swells by 1 and dies at close. Its because the people pub crawling on their way home keeps people coming and going. If I lived in Solana beach within walking distance and they had a patio with a firepit I would make this my new OMTIs (favorite dive bar in Oceanside).

Ive been coming to this place since 90-91 back when Cahuenga was just the dark street you parked your car on while you were headed over to Bolthouses Bar on Cosmos. BR was always on the circuit though even back when I would only drink cokes there because they only served beer and wine. It is my home away from home and a second family. It has survived and outlived the ever changing landscape of trendy Hollywood "hotspots" because it follows the simple rule of a family that drinks together stays together.

I liked it better when it was the Surf and Saddle. They fixed it up and that is good. The bartenders are also good and attentive. Then I ordered a Titos and O.J. and it was $8 during the day. Are you kidding? This place isnt THAT nice. I went down the street to the Tidewater and the same drink was $5.50. I wont be back!

From a bar that once allowed motorcycles drive thru the building, to a fine bar with upper end liquor available at reasonable prices. I enjoyed a nice beer and a neat 1942 tequila. P.S. I kinda wish I was around to see the place in the old days to see if the legends were true.

A fun, divey bar with good music, lots of space and room for a band (none were playing during my visit). Also, cheap/strong drinks. Its just steps from the beach in case you develop a liquor jacket and decide to take a dip in the Pacific.

This place is so great. We love the atmosphere great staff and top-notch food from next door. I think its the best bar on the coast. They also have great music a few times a week. Brett is the man and should be mayor of Solana Beach.

Love the octopus and michelada... my only gripe is that there was one tentacle...As you can see from my video one tentacle is barely enough to eat let alone play with...Please have 2 and less of the crap you put with it.

Moody little spot for a rotating menu of creative cocktails and oysters. The owners and other tenders are super friendly, and overall the place is a nice place to relax with a friend and chat.

The dj was great and the restrooms are clean, but the bartenders are rude and not customer service oriented. Awful service and stale beer.

Outstanding place for beers, live music, and to watch sport on one of three large TVs. You can bring in outside food.
