Manhattans is a wonderful restaurant. The atmosphere and decor are "old world" Italian. The service is impeccable. The food is consistently excellent with rich flavors and intoxicating aromas. The portions are large - large enough for two to split easily. I have been frequenting Manhattans for over 20 years and it has never been better. Beige and Mike at the bar are the best. The music is excellent and well suited for the dining experience. Yes, the majority of the patrons are over 40 but so what - we dont bite. In fact, the patrons of Manhattans are quite friendly. Perfect for that special occasion - like Wednesday night! And, yes, the veal chop is as good as it gets. But so is the Cioppino; and veal dishes; and pastas; and desserts; and wine. Oh my! Do not deprive yourself of dining here. You will be come a regular, too.

Great quality food, excellent service. Coming from an area very close to Italy, weve been searching for 3 years for a restaurant that has really good, authentic Italian food. I wish we would have found this place earlier. Their cannellonis are to die for! The menu has to offer way more than Italian specialties - so everyone in your party will find something theyll love. The steaks, the veal and the ceasar salad (dressing is freshly made at the table) were especially appreciated amongst our friends!

Absolutely wonderful. I have eaten at great restaurants all over the world and this is one of the best. Remarkable Lobster Manhattan and the best veal chop Ive had since Rome and probably better. Better Creme Brule than my nephew, the chef, can make. Truly a wonderful dinner and well worth the price. Great service as well. Old fashioned service and atmosphere and a very good piano player. Quite fun.

Five star restaurant, five star service, 5 star food, 5-star portions. The penne with sausage is amazing. But I recommend trying it with angel hair pasta. The pepper flavor comes out better. Great steak too. The waiters are a bit long toothed so you get a certain style of service that you may not be used to.

Terrific spot. Beautiful wood, brick, button tuck restaurant. The theme is Manhattan. Very friendly and interesting staff. Loved the piano player in the lounge, bar area. Food is excellent. Wonderful steak, perfectly cooked salmon. The lobster ravioli is a perfect start. Its a must while in La Jolla.

My wife brought me here for my birthday a couple months back and ive bbecome a regular ever since great service staff not a wine drinker although my wife is and there is a wide selection the food melts in your mouth because it so damn perfect I hightly recomend checking them out

Great tasting food with excellent service. Thank you Ara!!! We will visit again on our next trip to La Jolla. If you get a chance, try the table-side Caesar Salad and the Pepper Steak Flambe along with the house Tiramisu. You will not be disappointed!

Really unorganized, me and my husband waited to get seated or set up a reservation and no one came to help us The front desk was empty, we were really dissapointed. We ended up leaving and searching for a different place.

For sure an older crowd but we still had an excellent time, 60s & 70s piano playing in background to make the mood enjoyable. Youd be surprised who you might run into at this place.
