Having been there numerous times and tried several things on the menu (both beer and food), I can pretty confidently say that Stone invested a lot of time and care into this location. Upon stepping inside, youre struck immediately by all the use of actual stone, and a sort of raw urban look. It all combines to look very, very natural. If you go in the day and sit in the main dining hall, youll also get to experience all the natural light that they let in. The outdoor areas are also really nice. Yes, areas. Plural. Theres a smaller area out front, with several chairs and a bar, which make for a good people watching experience. In the middle they have a pair of bocci ball courts, which are surprisingly fun to play. Then in the back is their largest outdoor area, which features a small fountain and stream running through the middle. The largest area also features a full bar. Next, the food. Stone has always focused on sustainable food thats grown locally and in season. Additionally, they like to feature several styles of food. You can pick just about anything on the menu, and not go wrong. Though my personal favorites are the shepherds pie and the mushroom penne pasta. Finally, the beer. Stone, as usual, doesnt just feature there beer here, but beer from other breweries, both local and international, as well. Youll also see beers brewed from that location on tap, so youll always have plenty to choose from.

One of my favorite spots to get beer and food. The building and ambience inside are fantastic...unfortunately I love the garden seating too much to ever really get inside. If you make a reservation inside I recommend the "water table", a unique table that has a running water feature. Also, have fun in the bathroom...make sure not to miss the "mirror." Oh and make sure to play some Bocce ball and check to see if they have any events or movies showing...there is always something going on that is worth taking in. From a food standpoint, if an entree calls to you, by all means go for it, but my preference is to order a bunch of appetizers and enjoy. Pretzels, cheese plates, ahi tacos, etc...I have never had a disappointing appetizer! While you are there make sure to walk around the area a bit and take in the historic grounds/building (all nicely labelled with placards). For many visitors to San Diego a visit to the former NTC (Naval Training Center) is a must-see. NTC was the recruiting and boot-camp west coast training hub for the Navy for every major conflict from WWII-Vietnam, meaning that if someone in your family was in the Navy there is a pretty good chance they spent time at NTC. Just really cool to consider that fact (even if you dont have a member that served in the Navy).

Racist...went for my cousins wedding was there 2 hours early because we drove from out of town. Was told we needed to buy drinks or we needed to leave. Spoke with a staff member to let them know we where there wanting for a wedding which was booked as an event so they let us stayed but toldus to sit in the back. We decided to buy a few drinks spent over $100 waiting for the wedding to start which was going to have open bar. Bartenders where very rude didnt want to explain what drinks where offered free told us theres the list look. Rude to us all night. Then they cut off my brother stating he drank to much which he wasnt acting drunk, violent or rude to anyone. He decided to go to the bar outside the event area and purchase a drink which they sold him.Manager sernhim with a drink and had to security take his beer and kicked him out for no reason jyst because he had enough to drink. Famy wadnt notified or the responsible party who booked the event. Asked to soeak to a manager who was rude ad stated he doesnt have to explain why he kicked my brother out and then refund his beer and he said no...disnt want to allow us to stay after we drove 7 hours to enjoy a wedding. Worse brewery i ever been to that made me feel unwelcome....should have a sign WHITES ONLY...

Stone is likely the largest brewery in Southern California and they want you to know it at the brewery, one of three in the area all similarly themed. There’s even one at the airport. The inside feels like an Italian opera with lush red velvet curtains as well as a separate room with a huge wood table with a stream literally running through it. Outside is where you want to be on a nice day, though there isn’t much room for just drinking. The majority is set aside for tables for food, so if you just want drinks from this brewery, you’ll have to cram in at the bar. The outside is beautifully decorated with a Spanish missionary feel and turtles and a large pond. The beer selection itself is good, but there aren’t many interesting experimental beers from the huge brewery. Most are those you might find in the beer store. These are all good, but I was hoping to see more unique beer here. There are some excellent non IPA beers which is nice from this brewery mostly known for its IPAs. Service was fairly friendly and attentive as well at the bar, I think mostly because we were the only non-bro group there.

The chicken pate is not great. It is plain and I was drinking the imperial stout with it at first, and it had an after taste of fruit loops. Kind of weird. Pairing saves lives people. There are a lot of pasty meats. There is only one dried tradition meat and it tastes a little old. I.e. The fats taste oxidized. Some of the spices of the pasty meats are over powering. This meal is okay at best, but when this is a $15 app on a menus with $30 dollar entrees, it is sub par. Disappointing. They need to go back to school on meats. Stay away from the French. They know nothing about dried meats. Go Russian or American. The mustard is good though. Beers always great. Very busy on Saturday night. Great selection of beers though. They loose a star for slower service. Not terrible but a little slow. Mostly they loose a star for over priced food that is not good. Maybe other menu options are better but they need to fire the chef. This is an embarrassment and I would never let it leave my kitchen. The rest excels.

A horrible place their employees are racist and they discriminate we went yesterday to look at their venue since one of their employees at the wedding expo directed us there for future wedding bookings. As soon as walked in a lady asked us to follow her just to kick us right out without no explanation. We called the manager and he just brushed us off saying that he wasnt going to over turn the servers decision. Who does that? Who kicks people out without any reason what so ever. Specially if you are thinking of booking them for a wedding and are looking at spending thousands of dollars with them. The worst part is that the server was African American another minority SMH. I hope no one experience this in the future. If you are going to book an event there be cautious because their employees are rude and racist. I will report this to the BBB. Hopefully something gets done so NO ONE GOES THROUGH THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AGAIN
