Some of the best food Ive ever had, and easily the best in Santa Cruz. The only downside is due to limited seating you absolutely need a reservation. The hostess was a little curt with us due to arriving 15 minutes early, which was unexpected. Ive arrived more than 30 minutes early at other restaurants without an issue, and certainly never mind waiting if asked politely. That episode aside, the service itself and the food were top-notch. The red wine risotto with pork belly was exceptional, the squash gnocchi was fantastic, and the apple tart with creme fraiche sherbet was the perfect finish. The portions were reasonable, a tad smaller than I wouldve liked, but perfect for the three-course restaurant week. Im hoping their actual portions with the normal menu are more substantial. Cant say enough good about this place and looking forward to going back(without being early I guess).

I dont know much about restaurants in Santa Cruz, but my wife and I were super stoked to come across Soif. We ate at the bar and although we had to pipe up a couple of times (it was pretty bustling and the bartender was pretty swamped), our server was very knowledgeable & friendly. The atmosphere was really nice & we could carry on a conversation easily despite the crowd. The food and wine pairings were spot on. Certainly worth a visit.

Soif is about as close as Santa Cruz gets to chic SF dinning. Great small plates and apps menu. Food creations are fantastic and always high quality, atmosphere is chic and lively, and of course the wine selection is great. Many wines served by the glass and always served cellar temp. Wine shop (inside the restaurant) always has great variety of unique finds. Highly recommended.

Specializing in wine selections, but not all that many choices at any given time. Now with a full bar and some superb artisanal cocktails. Food is always exceptional, but choices are limited. Small portions. Expensive. Atmosphere is unremarkable. Service is good and professional but never seems particularly friendly.

Best "nice place" in Santa Cruz. Soif has good prices for great food. My personal opinion: this kitchen puts out the best tasting and most creative dishes in all of Santa Cruz. Fresh California style cuisine. If you are looking for cheap Pizza or Tacos, go somewhere else. This aint for the pedestrian palette.

Came here for my friends birthday dinner. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived so fast that we barely had time to finish them before everything else showed up. Luckily all the food was very delicious and we had no problem finding everything.

Delicious! The food was amazing, the balance of flavors - just right, and the service was stellar! We loved the wine-pairing suggestions with each dish and almost licked the dessert plate ;) Soif was recommended to us and we will definitely recommend it further!

We were there on a busy night with a popular jazz trio, so the food was bit slow to the table. But the food was delicious and the band and the elegant wines made the time pass enoyably. Well be back whenever we are within striking distance.
