I went here last year for restaurant week and was very pleasantly surprised. I have been back a few times in the last year and I have enjoyed it just as much each time I return. The last time here my wife and I had the macaroni and cheese as well as sharing a burger. While the burger was good, we wish we had just ordered nothing but the mac and cheese. It was so good, we ignored everything else to enjoy the rich creamy noodles and cheese. The best part of this dish and a tip if you order it, is to be sure to add on the Bacon. Now that is my name and so I am pre-disposed to love it, but no kidding this made the dish twice as good as it already was.... The ambience in this place is fantastic too. Unique place with couches and lounging areas that are so comfortable, but also more formal dining room with regular tables and chairs. I especially like that the chairs around the dining tables are plushly padded and comfortable. They also do great decorations around holidays. Halloween decorations when we were there recently were awesome, but also they get into the Christmas spirit equally well. I highly recommend this place as a friendly, classy bar/restaurant for anything from drinks and a appetizer to a formal dinner.

This place is awesome. Insanely packed on the weekends, but thats just when it turns into the real party zone. Its comfy, its relaxed, yet upbeat. While the Red is great the real gym is the Red Room downstairs on the corner. Here its very small but packed in with a more alternative crowd. Its easy to meet people here and they allow smoking which is unheard of anywhere on the west coast. The drinks are a great deal, and there is always plenty of Eye Candy.

Between my boyfriend and I we had 6 different signature cocktails and they were all INCREDIBLE. Ive also been to this place and just gotten vodka tonics and I still didnt have anything to complain about. They also have the best chicken wings in Santa Cruz. The place does get a little crazy on weekend nights with the night scene but is very relaxed during their first few hours. My only complaint is the carpeting... it kinda smells but oh well.

I luved this place! It reminded me of Candelabra an LA underground club from the early 90s. The music gives it a club feel, The waitresses were freindly quick and very helpful. We sat in front of a roaring fire on a big comfy sofa. It was super cool the only con is a "vintage" type oder when you first walk in but it quickly fades. This place is looks hip and feels cool! I cant wait to go back!

LOOOOOVE this place, great setting. Options to sit in couches or table. Food was ridiculously good! Service was scarce. It wasnt super packed and still some other waitress came by asking for our menus because they were short on them. ORDER SOME MORE MENUS!!! For not being super busy we hardly saw our own waitress, though she was nice when we did.

Group of 4 downstairs. It was a bit cramped, the bartender didnt make eye contact for about 5 -10 minutes finally took my order but seemed visibly irritated by my request, 4 pints. Decided to try the upstairs. The ambience was a little more welcoming. We immediately found seats and grabbing drinks was an easy task.

This was our favorite stop in Santa Cruz. The atmosphere is completely relaxed, as if you were hanging out at home. The seating is mostly sofas, so you just kick back and relax while enjoying your delicious drinks and appetizers. It was an excellent way to end our day.

The top floor is really beautiful with couches and a fireplace and expensive cocktails. It was really busy on weekends and a part of the room turns into a dance floor. The bottom floor is mellow (but busy) on weekends. The beer is cheap and all your friends are there

A Santa Cruz staple. I come here every time Im in town. What a sweet bar. Bartenders who know all the cool cocktails, beautiful decor, plush seating, cool people - whats not to love about this place? If youve havent been to the Red Room for cocktails, you havent LIVED.

Gets really busy but thats because its nice. Lost a star because they have a no hat rule and they supposedly have a hat check but they lost my friends hat and were completely rude about it, bouncers not bartenders that is.

Upstairs and downstairs are two different experiences. I like upstairs for good food, interesting drinks, and huge selection of whatever booze you like. This is the best stocked bar anywhere in Santa Cruz.
