TERRIBLE OWNER!!!Okay, so I hate to be that one guy with a bad review, but I am just in shock at the moment from what has taken place at this bakery from the OWNER!!! So, I was there to drop off a cake topper for my daughters b-day cake and a young gentlemen was in front picking up his order. The owner was looking over the order and was VERY unhappy with it. She angrily told the worker to redo the writing and to make sure it is clearly written. I felt sorry for the worker, but was happy that she took such pride in the way her products were presented. I made a mental note to share this with my husband, and felt very happy at the prospect of my cake being handle with such care and attention. WELL...her anger had clearly spilled over to me. Once I began explaining my order to her, she was visibly upset by the misunderstanding of my order and insisted that I hadnt paid for something I clearly did. As I tried to go through the receipt with her, she seemed uninterested or as if she wasnt understanding. As I lifted up the receipt to show to point out more clearly what I was trying to explain, ALL THINGS WENT TO HELL VERY QUICKLY!!!!! She began telling me that I had threatened her and she felt scared...uhhh I am 57" and 110lbs OKAY.....Then she said I threw the receipt in her face and proceeded to throw the receipt up in mine to show an example of what I had done. I told her that I was very happy there were cameras because since that is in no way what I had done. By the way, as I was speaking with her, a few of the staff walked behind her mouthing thank you to me. Another proceeded to tell me how they were hitting their one year mark of working there, and then let out a big sigh! I am sorry for them because they all seemed so sweet. Long story short, she went on and on with claims that I was being racist-since she told me I clearly wasnt from California and I proceeded to tell her she clearly wasnt either, so what does that mean? Then claims of feeling attacked. I mean I could go on and on with ridiculous claims from the woman. At one point I thought I was on some hidden camera show, because what she was saying in no way made any sense. She was completely out of her mind an making up stuff. I was speechless. This had NEVER happened to me. She ended up apologizing to me, and said we should go for coffee so she could show me that she is a really nice woman. I then schooled her a bit on how customer service is a crucial part of running a business. I asked for my money back and found another bakery for my daughters big day. I wish I could give separate star ratings. I would give 4 to the staff, who were always very sweet to me, 4 for the quality of the cakes which kept me coming back there, and 0 for the owner. No matter how good the cake is, I couldnt see giving over $100 of my hard earned cash to someone who treats her customers this way.

San Jose downtown location is much nicer than the Saratoga one. Pastries and are fantastic and are always fresh. The coffee is exceptionally good and if someone is accustomed to European-tasting coffee instead of the quality of a local Starbucks/Petes, this is your spot! Hazelnut mouse and tiramisu are great cakes and the San Jose location is a little bit more expensive most likely because of higher rent costs. The San Jose location is filled with unique orchids and feels like a true European cafe that most of my European friends have been craving for years. You can also easily come there to read a book. WEDDING CAKE While delicious, my fiance and I were able to find a less expensive, yet, equally tasty bakery in Palo Alto (Palo Alto Baking Company), but the tasting we did at Bijan was handled ok and the staff was not at all pushy. My fiance and I felt like we had to push the staff to tell us about how things work, which might be ok, but people cant always think of all questions when its their first large cake order, which is a downside. The client has to follow up with the bakery, which seems reasonable, but bad for business as some clients could be lost because of this. We were able to try all cakes that we wanted by pointing at their display with a finger :) You can definitely find something you like this way, but we were not offered customizations where the cream would be taken from one cake and the biscuit from another. Cost is about $400-500 for a cake that would feed 50 people. Delivery is extra.

WOW! This might sound like an overstatement, but I have to honestly say this is THE BEST bakery I have ever been to. Ive never had better pastries. I ordered the cheese danish pastry and chocolate pastry, and theyre the most flavorful, soft, fresh, flakey pastries Ive ever had. The cream cheese in the cheese danish pastry was not overly sweet and sugary like a lot of pastries Ive had in the past. I seriously cannot say enough about them! I also ordered a cafe au lait (half drip coffee and half steamed milk). It was okay, but definitely not the best coffee Ive ever had. It could be that I should have asked for a darker roast because this particular one was too mild for my taste. I also asked for some caramel flavor to make it a little sweet. I have a feeling though, that it might have been a sugar free kind because it leaves an aftertaste like saccharin sugar packets. Next time I will ask for a darker roast and ask to see the caramel syrup container to check the ingredients. So, in conclusion, they have THE BEST PASTRIES, and on the first go, decent coffee. Will try a different coffee next time though. I have faith that their coffee can be just as good as the pastries. :)

I generally arrive to just enjoy a cup or two of coffee with a snack :O) or two. Every thing I snack on is SO tasty. From the German raspberry tart to the Ham and cheese croissants. My dog loves sitting outside and gobbling up any bits I share. I have had 100% friendliness from any other visitors and employee. * My only check poor review is: NOT enough Ham & Cheese croissants. I think they are the fastest sold outs in the early open. Thank you. J.D.

we ordered the roast chicken sandwich which was just about ok...could have been more fresh..from a bakery.the first expectation is to have a freshly baked bread and that was disappointing. the pastry (chocolate mousse) was very good and perfectly prepared..the customer service however was not great..lot of scope for improvement..their cakes look beautiful and i bet they taste good too..overall a decent place!!
