My mom and I were in Washington to visit family so we decided to sight see a bit. We found a review saying the view of Mount Rainier was exquisite from the Black Diamond Restaurant so we thought wed give it a go. I included a picture of what Mount Rainier looks like from the window view of the restaurant. We arrived after lunch-rush hour, about 2:30 pm, so the restaurant was nearly empty. We were served by Steven who seemed a bit shy at first but turned out to be very warm and friendly. I ordered the Diamond Club sandwich and my mother ordered the Reuben. The Reuben was different as we arent used to horseradish or mayo being served with it but it was surprisingly very good! My mom also ordered sweet potato fries. The Club sandwich was huge. I was very pleased to see that the meat was real turkey and not just lunch meat turkey and the lettuce was bushy, green, fresh lettuce. I was keeping low expectations as the sandwich had guacamole, and Im the biggest fan, but I ended up liking it. The guacamole was different and ended up tasting amazing. I ordered regular fries(also different than others and also delicious). The food was filling(I ended up taking half my sandwich to go)but not too filling to the point where you feel sick, which I get a lot in other restaurants due to food, or especially, when Im bored and eat too fast. Its much harder to get bored when you have an amazing view to keep you entertained. Scenic views are so much more thrilling than having a television! Afterwards, we went to the bakery area and ordered a Mocha Breve, a Russian Pretzel, and two eclairs. Im a bit of a coffee freak and lets just say I WILL be coming back just for the coffee if I cant stay for longer than a couple minutes. Overall: The service was fantastic, when we arrived we told our waiter that we came due to the review on the view but the mountain had been clouded up. Half an hour later he took his time to remind us that the clouds had dispersed. I also saw the staff members having a group meeting which shows how involved and dedicated everyone is. The food is spectacular. Good quality for a decent price, truly amazing. Will definitely be coming back as soon as I find an excuse to fly out to Washington!

First-time customer, met a friend for breakfast ended up staying for three hours. The waitress was efficient and refilled our coffee and water as needed. There is a beautiful territorial View from the restaurant, there is plenty of seating and all of their menu items coming out not only to our table but tables around us were well-proportioned and well plated. It was nice to receive a half of a (home canned?) Peach and a mini blueberry muffin while we were waiting for breakfast. Both of us ordered the Italian omelette/scramble please see the photos below. My friend opted for fresh tomatoes instead of hash browns and we both ordered the Seven Grain homemade toast which was excellent. I was wishing the toast would have come with homemade jam of some sort, and maybe there was jelly to be had I did not ask and it was not offered. Parking is somewhat limited on the street and across the street but did not appear to be a problem. They also have a bakery thats attached to the restaurant as well as a small espresso stand if you are in need of a baked good and a fancy coffee. As this was a weekday visit Im guessing on the weekends or earlier in the morning it was much busier than at 10:15 on a Thursday. The other thing I noticed was that they serve lunch all day! that is a real + as sometimes Im not in the mood for a breakfast item. We definitely will be back for another breakfast chat.

My friend and I visited the Black Diamond restaurant on 1-12-2012, the atmosphere and the waiter was good but let me tell you about the food. I ordered Shrimp Louie. This is what I got. A plate with Romain lettuce mixed with a few spinach, 6 half a piece of cherry tomatoes, some crumbled old hard eggs, and some small pieces of pink stinky shrimp about 1/2" to 1" long with a muffin. The shrimp smelled so bad. It smelled like sewer. I almost vomited when the waiter put the plate in front of me. I tried to be polite and said noting specially since I was with a friend. when I got home I had a very bad after taste and vomited. I called the restaurant and talk to the manager. Her name was Moon, she barely could speak English so she gave the phone to another lady to take my information and call me back. I didnt hear from her so I called again, she said, "she lost my number". she said, "she talked to the owner and they can not give me any credit" for the trouble stinky food that they served me at their restaurant. I will never go back to that place ever again and will tell all of my friends about the kind of service that I received at this restaurant. Horrible horrible food and service!!!

Going to the Black Diamond Bakery has been a tradition for most of our trips to Seattle. The scenery is fantastic (when the mountain is out). Over the years we have noticed a change in quality however. On our recent trip, the bacon was burned, the coffee was not great, the scrambled eggs were made from a pasteurized frozen source. The oatmeal was fantastic. The waitress tried to service our table but she had many tables to handle at one time. The owner (?) was rude and short with me when I mentioned I had decaf coffee. Not a great way to make a positive impression. The smaller bakery items such as cookies, were hard and dry. The load of bread was great and has stayed fresh for several days. I am sorry to write a less than positive review for a restaurant I have enjoyed in the past.

Food was the absolute worst I have ever been served at a restaurant. I had vegetable lasagna looked and tasted like a plate full of slop for 15.99! My son had tropical chicken.....could not eat it said it tasted like soap. My husbands burger was dry, crispy no flavor almost inedible. My other son had fish and chips fish smelled super fishy....I could smell it across the table. To top of the experience. ...Bought two cinnamon rolls to take home with us (which was really the main reason we came here to start with) and they were old! Id say at least 2 plus days old....very disappointing!! Worst of all .... it cost 95.00 for this dining nightmare. I wouldnt go back of they paid me to eat there. Dont want others to have to go through this.

I used to come here all the time when Sheri and Doug owned it, I havent been here in about ten years and I will NEVER be back. I came here to meet up with a friend I havent seen in a while, we had breakfast, it was nothing special most of it was burnt and expensive, but our server was good. We had been there for maybe an hour, we were finished eating and just catching up when the owner came over and interrupted our conversation to say it was busy and they needed the table. Ive never been kicked out of a table because the place was busy, we couldnt even complain to anyone because it was the OWNER who was so rude!! Worst customer service I have ever experienced and will never be back.
