First impression review from a single visit! Note: I eat vegan style. Food: Very good. Everything I ordered had definitive flavor that was not over powering. It wasnt the most amazing food in the world, but everything was made well, to order, and suited all of my needs. Flavor, texture, aroma, visual appeal... yum! The full menu has items for meat eaters too, and a nice selection of drinks (including alcohol). Portions were served family style. Service: This was a little mixed. The person who seated me and took my order was very polite and even caught on to the fact that I was ordering vegan without me saying it - he let me know that one item I ordered had milk in it. GREAT catch!! Then a different person took over for the rest of my meal. He was very quiet, and it felt like he just stood there and stared at me after giving me my bill. It didnt feel intentional, or even angry, but it was... strange. It came off more as his personality than their business style. Ambiance: Mehfil is a split-level restaurant that is clean and feels spacious for its actual framework. They had (what sounded like) Indian music playing in the background, but not too loud. You can see the kitchen line while you eat and a few TVs are around too. Seating is a combination of padded benches & chairs & tables. It feels like they are shooting for something a little upscale, so its not really friendly to screaming toddlers, but a family could do fine in here if the kids are able to stay happy at a table. Overall: Good food, feels clean, and (mostly) congenial staff. Id totally go again. Its even "date night" material.

This is my comfort food and my staple Indian take out. I love a good curry and this is the best Ive tasted in California (I work in Fremont which has a wide array of Indian fare and this still wins hands-down). Extensive list of North Indian style curries served to the level of spice you prefer (hot really means hot...), great naan and pickled sides. Only down side is the raita is sometime too watery. Ive rarely been inside the restaurant (only been a couple of times to the older location on 2nd and Folsom) so cant comment on the service, but will always go back here for the food.

We ordered via uberEATS where it stated every curry came with basmati rice. Well they didnt. So we ended up with no rice, when we called the restaurant they blamed uberEATS for having the wrong menu up. We then tried solving the problem even offering to pay for rice but they insisted we needed to place an order that was a min of $20 for delivery (even though we just spent $60 on curry and naans and they falsely advertised that rice was included) They were rude on the phone and hung up on us. The curry was very average also.

Wanna try some Indian Cuisine on one of the main shopping streets in SF, Fillmore street, Mehfil offers a diversified Indian Cusine with specialised food items from across India( North, South,East and West).Delicious lunch buffet and take-out line. The $6 chicken tika masala is always delicious. The vegetarian fare is usually quite tasty as well. Must try Paneer Butter Masala and Lassi onne of india favourite drinks.

Excellent lunch at a great price! Downtown San Francisco has a problem. Theres virtually nowhere you can eat good food for relatively cheap. Theres an answer to the problem though: Mehfil Indian Cuisine! Their lunch specials go for $5 or $6. They taste great! There are vegetarian options if thats your thing. I typically can get two lunches out of one of their lunchtime servings.

Visited 3times. Had such a tasty food.. I never liked samosa in Phoenix but here I tried and it was awesome with 3yummy chutneys which were the reason I ordered on my second visit too. Curry , jeera lassi too good. Had to go of biriyani . It was very good not like typical South Indian garam masala but mild flavor it has. Will definitely try on my next visit of SFO..

Every time when I make a left turn on second street, I smell Indian aroma right away. Its alright just basic americanized Indian food with preparation to off set. Nothing more to say, its just Indian food in the FiDi. Not as authentic as some in the TL, but will do. Bonus for opening late.

Helpful staff and authentic cooking. One of the best Indian restaurant in town. Even though its closed on Saturdays, if you are craving for some Indian on a workday, this is the place to go. And dont forget to order home delivery on Sundays. Home delivery is a bit slow, but its worth it.

Cant beat the value of the takeout lunch box - $5-$6 for a substantial meal. Its not obvious, but you can ask them for half of one item and half of another, instead of just choosing one. Is it the best Indian food in San Francisco? No, but you get what you pay for.

Centrally located in the financial district. Food choices sufficient for most needs and prompt service. Only odd thing was being asked to share a salad with my guest. Prices reasonable for downtown SF. Expect a pretty good meal for $13 or less plus tax and tip.

The quality of Mehfils offerings has been in steady decline for many years. Mehfil used to be on my lunch rotation, but no longer. Its recent health inspection shortcomings only add to my reluctance to return.

Great: - Convenient location off of Market - daily to go special is only $6 Not so Great: - Service is very slow - Cleanliness of the establishment is questionable My picks: - Lamb Vindaloo (very spicy)

Good Indian food, there will be a long line for lunch. Cheap lunch box options are available for Veg & Non-Veg options. (Only for 5 - 6$ !!). Also they change the menu of take-out everyday.

Best Indian food in the city. Had saag paneer, Chana masala, chicken tikka masala, raita, papadem, garlic naan, and lamb curry. I wasnt disappointed with any of it. It was all so good!

I go for takeout twice a week. Very reasonable prices for to go food and excellent quality and variety of dishes. Many of the dishes are typical of home ccooking in India.

The food is tasty. FYI they wont let you upgrade naan to garlic naan. If you get a dish that comes with naan, youre getting it. No changing it even if you pay more.

Wanted to charge me 3 dollars for mango chutney. Curry was inauthentic not a good Indian curry. Roti was thick and dry. Disappointing. Ordered it as a takeout.

The naan is delicious. I wish that the servings were a little bigger. They should take more care about making the chai special. Good indian cuisine.

Great food. They accommodated a part of 14 on a Friday night with ease. All food was delicious, they also took an off menu order of Bhatura bread.

Samosas and veggie curries are my favorite. The lunch buffet is a great price with good portions and the line always moves quickly.

A gem of a place - the lunch takeout special is one of the best, if not the best, lunch deal in FiDi. Delicious food!
