The food was great, but the service was very lacking. I went in at 12:30pm on a Tuesday and there were three tables including me. I got seated fast and my order was taken quickly. I ordered the chicken vindaloo (extra spicy) and it was very tasty. However, they dont offer lunch portions, so I spent about $20 on a lot of wasted vindaloo (plus naan and a beer). I work in the area, and I dont think Ill go very often due to the lack of lunch portions, especially since there are a couple of Indian places two blocks away with lunch menus. I may return for dinner The service was pretty poor. The waiter never once checked back on me the entire meal, even though I was one of only three tables. When I was done I waited 10 minutes. The waiters were all in the bar area and never came back to where I was. I pushed my plates away from me and waited another 10 minutes. Still standing at the bar, none of them came even close to me. So I finally waved one of the gaggle down. With all this extra food I decided to take some back to the office to eat tomorrow. I dont love leftovers, but I literally had half the meal left. Youd think the waiter would box the food since he had absolutely nothing else to do. Nope. OK. So the food is good, and maybe it was an off day. Ill try them for dinner and see. At least the value will be better.

Dont go to this place thinking of having traditional Indian (Punjabi) food. Instead try out the "Indian Street food " appetizers a.k.a chaat items. If you are new to chaat, Cholay bhature and pau bhaji are good dishes to start with. You can also try out paneer pakora and bhel puri if you havent had those but they might contain dairy so be careful if you have special dietary needs. Mango lassi and thumsup (Indian soda) are two drinks highly recommended... the list goes on and on. They also run half price happy hours for chaat items so if you are hungry and are around Moscone just walk over for some nice Indian (non-traditional) food.

I stayed at a friends place on 3rd and Folsom across the street from Chaat. I came here and used the internet for two days and never ordered a thing! Not even a drink! The staff was nice and cool it was mind blowing, they just kept refilling my glass of water and smiling!!! So the other day, I figured the least I could do was order a platter to thank them for their hospitality. Turns out.... THEIR FOOD IS AMAZING!!!! I have been eating their stuffed Nann (lamb or pesto) for 3 days now and Im coming back for the Chick Tandoori tonight! Great people+ Cool vibe+awesome location= Favorite Indian spot in San Fran!!

In short, great work for honest prices. My wife and I purchased a used Honda Fit in early 2016. Unfortunately we believe the car is cursed - we were hit three times while we werent even moving in the same year. Two of the incidents were fairly major and required panel replacement as well as frame realignments. We have AAA auto insurance and California Collision Center is one of their preferred shops so we decided to try them out. They have done great work both times and are very communicative and honest with us.

Chaat is the Indian place that I get my take out or dine-in. Always very courteous and offering to give me the dish for 2 so my WIFE can eat all the Naan from under my nose. Good location near Moscone Center @ 3rd & Folsom. They also give a just portion and will be sensitive to your taste if you cannot handle Spicy Hot dishes. Nice dish of Tandoori Chicken or Masla Chicken, RICE, and orders of Garlic & Traditional Naan Bread for only $28.00 Thank You

The Google ad for this restaurant is wrong. It has the wrong area code for the phone number. 419 is the area code for North West Ohio. I know because I live in Ohio and work at a small hospital that has been overwhelmed with calls for reservations and take out for this place. As much as we would like to accommodate this calls, we have no food and are 3,000 miles away. Please check the area code before dialing, and enjoy the restaurant.

I am extremely disappointed that they stopped making the chicken biryani. It was a standard order for our friday dinner and most of the time when we placed an order it was sold out. If it was so popular why did they stop preparing the biryani. At least offer it on the menu on alternate weeks or once a month. I tried to speak to the staff but no dice. What happened to customer satisfaction and service. It was the best chicken biryani!

Cafe Chaat has a lot of variety and is a solid option when youre hankering for casual Indian fare. I personally come here for the Malai Kofta and affordable prices. There arent too many places in SF (that Ive found) that are great for Indian food so this place is a go to if Im in the neighborhood. My friends and I usually end up here late at night and split everything family style for a comfortable and tasty second dinner.

I like the food but the service is odd. I have been there twice and they served different menu items which I never ordered. So I was waiting for approximately 40 mins on both occasions to get my food. (supposedly fast food). Also, one of the waiter is pretty odd ( tall guy with a small ponytail hair style). On my second visit, a female friend who accompanied me, felt extremely uncomfortable due to his constant stare.

If you want to try Indian street style food, head over to this location on 3rd street. Plenty of choices for vegetarians, vegans and meat lovers. Extensive menu along with a bar. They also do take out orders and delivery as well. They are open late nights so usually end up here for some good food after a night out. Plenty of seating including small groups. Their food consistently tastes good and is authentic Indian.

The take-out service was great, friendly, and they gave me water while I was waiting. The food was alright. I had the chicken tandoori platter which was a little spicy for my weak tummy, but the sauce was good. The garlic naan tasted more like dry pizza crust with garlic but I like pizza crust so no real complaints. Good, cheap place for dinner. The portions are generous and the service is great.

Had a great experience at happy hour yesterday. Apps were half off, so I ordered the first three: Masala Fries, Papri Chaat, and Bhel Puri. All very tasty. I was thrilled that the fries were delivered fresh from the fryer. Also happy to receive good service. The happy hour sign claims "up to 50% off", so make sure to confirm the discount on your items when ordering if thats important to you.

Mediocre food. Decent service. The big plus point is that it is open till midnight. The north Indian fare is better than the South Indian offerings. The idlis were not fluffy/porous. The Dosa in general is good. Punjabi curries were the stellar offerings but still around average rating. The chaat options were mediocre enough to be disappointed since its named after this category.

Delicious Indian food. The service here is mind boggling fast. Ive had my lamb boti come out within five minutes of actually ordering it. The lunch specials here are gigantic and come with both rice and naan. You could probably back half away and have lunch the next day because the portions are that generous, but youll probably just eat it all because the food is that delicious.
