A moderately sized Indian restaurant known mostly for its lunch buffet, however they also serve a la carte dishes for dinner. I ordered their mango chicken, a yellow curry with fried veggie fritters and a side of long-grain saffron rice. The mango chicken was quite enjoyable, the chicken was cooked very nicely and was still very moist and tender, and the deep red sauce that accompanied it had a very complex yet well balanced flavor. The yellow curry with fritters was something I ordered on a whim, and I was pleasantly surprised with how delightful it was. The curry that the fritters were nestled in didnt seem as complex as the mango chickens sauce however it was still very comforting to eat. My only gripe is that the fritters were a bit soggy due to being submerged in the green/yellow sauce for so long, it would nice if they were served seperately as to retain their crunchiness for as long as possible. All-in-all the the table service was very attentive and consistent. Food was brought to our table in a reasonable amount of time. The bill was fairly affordable for the amount of food and the experience that we received. Im not in a rush to return, and I sure wont be Raving about it to friends, however if you are looking for a nice, humble, Indian dinner I would definitely recommend that you try it for yourself.

The quality of food is a great mark of how busy a restaurant is for dinner on a Friday evening! My wife and I went to this restaurant for our last dinner in the bay area before we fly back home to UK. And I have to say that after the amazing food we have been served across the bay, this is by far the worst food we were served. Ordered a lamb biryani (thali), chicken tikka masala and naan. Whilst the naan was decent, both the lamb biryani and the chicken tikka masala were pre-cooked. Whilst the the chicken tikka masala tasted like a tomato base desert, the biryaani was blazingly hot. It clearly tasted of uncooked spices which may be owing to the fact that we requested our food to be medium spicy. So I guess they had no choice but to just sprinkle some chilly powder over our biryaani. Also, biryaani normally is cooked with basmati rice! Service was prompt yet lacked a key ingredient - SMILE!! All in all, this is a completely avoidable joint. And for anybody who cares, we are a Indian couple who knows a thing or two about Indian food! :)

I went to Bombay Garden for dinner and opted for the all-you-can-eat buffet. The menu design was fine. An unknown curry which had mixed vegetables in it was quite disappointing. Indian taste buds like mine arent satisfied when treated to boiled vegetables in the name of a Mix Vegetable curry at an Indian restaurant. Id recommend trying out the Vegetable Pakoras and Palak Paneer though. Those were two items I absolutely loved. The naan was very well cooked too and the waiters were prompt in bringing hot ones to the counter as soon as they were ready. Gulab Jamun for dessert couldve been better. It was fine though. Bombay Garden is recommended only if you dont have another good recommendation from a friend or cant find a restaurant with better ratings nearby. Happy eating!

This review is for the weekend lunch buffet. Service was very good. We were consistently well attended with fresh water and our dirty plates were taken away. The food was tasty although I am not an Indian food expert. The fish dishes (fried mackerel, chili fish) were really good. There was a lot of filler (rice, potato, pakora, carbs, etc), so sometimes you have to pick the good stuff out of the serving dishes. Also come early as the food will cool off pretty soon after being put out on the buffet. I am satisfied and my meal was reasonably priced. Overall very nice experience.

Im curious as to why North California prepares serves palak paneer instead of saag paneer. I am originally from Houston where most restaurants serve saag paneer, and with the past Indian restaurants Ive been to in the Bay area, all of them prepare palak paneer instead of saag paneer. Another thing is, Bombay Gardens food tasted warm to pretty cold, like the vegetable pakora dish, by the time I came at 12:30. It should still be hot even 30 minutes after lunch starts. Oh well. Ill try other places.

Went there assuming it would be as good as their Newark location, but was disappointed. They had good variety, but was not very tasty (except the lamb curry and a couple of appetizers which were really good). They had three different types of sweets, but except one rest two were non-edible. The naan was burned and when I asked for it to be replaced, they did it. But those too were over-cooked. The staff was grim faced and not very friendly. Overall, I would never go there again.

Indian restaurants are often good for vegetarians (though less so for strict vegans). The lunch buffet at Bombay Garden has quite a few good veggie options. When I was there, they had at least 5 vegetarian options on the buffet, plus soup and sides. They bring you a basket of fresh naan. They had 4 different dessert options and hot chai. All the food was fresh and tasty.

Bombay Garden is a disgrace and it should be reported to the Health Dept. The bathroom is beyond filthy and looks not to have been cleaned in a long long time. The food is not fresh and is extremely salty. Waiters are civil, certainly not into their job. Eat there at your own risk, but dont be surprised if you end up with the runs, or worse

Affordable and decent indian food. My 2nd dinner visit.. Ordered their tandoori chicken with naan, chicken were a little dry but still taste yummy. Had their mango lassi and vegetable samosa which was alright. Quiet (it was just us in the restaurant for most part of our dinner) and pleasant place to dine.

Food was tasty. As is typical of most Indian lunch buffets, they basically leave you alone until the check arrives. Which can be good, unless you want something other than water to drink. A strange thing to notice but the water here was GREAT. Very tasty, obviously some kind of filtered or bottled water.

I love Bombay Garden in Newark, this location in San Mateo however does not compare. Maybe an off day as most reviews are positive but the food here was bland in comparison and much fewer choices. Send the chef to Newark for continuing education! If you like this place youll love the food over there.

Pen to sign the credit card didnt work. Disgruntled guy in the picture walked over, tried to use the pen. It didnt work as we said to him. He didnt say anything, threw another pen on the table and walked off. So rude. No thanks. The other waiter apologized for his coworker.

We had the buffet and it was cold food. The guy serving had no interest in his job. The food was refilled only on asking. Go only if you want to have cheap lunch and yes stay away from desserts. They were horrible. Ice cream which my kid loves tasted like medicine.

I was early for dinner , but was accomodated, Paneer Makhani was feshly made so was the Naan. Staff did well to serve , Excellent service, which is very surprising for an Indian Restaurant, This is a resataurant to recommend to friends and family.
