Wow, Im amazed that there arent glowing reviews of this place. I recently moved up from the LA area and have been eating out a lot. I think Ive been eating here three times a week because I like it that much. My friend Im staying with has also been going with her daughter and has loved everything. I spent two months in India and this is the best Indian food Ive had since I got back ten years ago. The chai tea is spot on, the chicken is juicy and tender, and my favorite dish, sag paneer, is the best. Im ordering it right now!

Visited with my family on Friday evening for dinner. Food wasnt bad but not so good either, however we almost threw up seeing the guy standing at the counter/server picking his nose as if he was searching something hidden inside, eeewww! He looked like the owner or manager. I cannot believe people review this place with 5 star, I would avoid this place. We saw another Indian restaurant nearby, We are done with this restaurant.

I rarely write reviews but I really felt I had to write one. I had a to go order of veg biryani and a simple aloo Gobi. Cannot emphasize how disappointed I am. The thing they call biryani is not really a biryani. It looked and tasted like a mix vegetable rice, which tasted really bad. The aloo Gobi was too spicy with no flavor what so ever. Please improve.

I would give it 0 starts if that was an option. They used 1 gravy for all the dishes. Boiled chicken bland thrown into the gravy. The malai kofta which is supposed to be in a curd gravy was in the same gravy as the butter chicken. The price of 2 small pieces of bread was $3 the paneer was hard and a complete waste.

I dont often write reviews but was so underwhelmed with this place I felt the need. The food was bad. Just all around bad. If you are thinking of coming here for the food, just dont. The ambiance is nice though, if thats what youre into I wish I would have paid attention to the other 1 star reviews.

I havent been here for a long time, but In glad I came back! The dishes are delicious, the mixed pickle is strong, salty, redolent...everything you want. Fish tandoori, generous portion, perfectly cooked. Next time I want Indian around San Mateo, this is the only place worth considering.

Its a pretty typical North Indian place right in walkable downtown San Mateo. Competent execution, good cream dishes - the Makhani is popular. Service is good and the atmosphere is slightly upscale - a nice change of pace from hipster truck food.

I ordered the coconut curry lamb with some rice, it was awsome! Im not sure if its authentic Indian but it was really delicious. I also ordered their rice with it, and I dumped the rice over the curry it was divine. Its also priced very well!

Went there for the first time tonight on the recommendation of a local...the service was fine, but the food was very so-so. The chicken biriyani was dry and the gulab jamun was very stale, terrible. Pretty expensive for below average food.

Not a bad lunch buffet. I especially like the fish pakora they have. And the achar is nice. Tandoori chicken is done well. But slightly on the "american" mild side for everything. I like a little more kick than they usually have.

Tasty Indian food. Fast service. Warm and romantic decor, but they had fast Indian music blasting. Felt like I was at an Indian night club (not that Ive been to one). I really wanted to get up and do some Bollywood dancing.

Pretty good lunch buffet at a descent price. They have a lot of vegetarian options and they serve the naan fresh. They have chai as part of the buffet and some sort of ice cream along with the typical Indian desserts.

There are quite a few good things to like. The staff is very courteous. Try out their chicken tikka masala. The thing that puts me off is often enough the samosas and grill is cooked a little bit too stiff and dry.

I think its okay. 3 out of 5 is perfect. For the price you pay, options are pretty good and most of the stuff is good. If you have tried all known great places and want to explore more, this place is worth a try.

Worst place ever, complete jerk at the counter yells at me that no buffet if available then doesnt even have the courtesy to sit us down. Then I heard from my other friends that the foods sucks big time here.

Ordered delivery though here; the curries and naan/rice were all delicious and still hot when they arrived but the delivery took longer than most places and was a bit on the steep side as far as price.

This place used to be good. Food quality is OK now, bunch of waiting staff smokes outside and then comes to you to ask if you need anything, I personally hate that smell and its pretty disgusting.

So sad. This place must have changed ownership. It used to be so good and we would order take out regularly. We ordered recently and it was almost inedible... totally different now... shame.

Tuesday 1127am, no one s dining, no server s outside ready and no dish prepared in lunch buffet. You are in populated bay area, have some competitiveness.

Must have changed chef. Havent been here for about a year. Food now tastes like spices are reduced to offer a milder, less authentic taste.

In my opinion the best Indian buffet in San Mateo. But most of the people preferred to go down the street to the other Indian establishment.
