This is a review after my 2nd or 3rd time here. I want to say good things because the chicken Tikka Masala burrito actually tastes good. However the service here is absolute crap and has been each time Ive come, though this last time is the last straw. Even though the food tastes good, it is overpriced for what you get: $9-$10 for what amounts to be pretty darn small burrito. After trying some other places Im pretty certain you can go elsewhere to get a Indian style burrito for less money, bigger size, better ingredients, and quicker/better service. I just made the mistake of coming back here for a quick fix when I was close by. Apparently it can take over 30 minutes to get one of their small burritos made, even if there are 8 people on staff and less than 5 customers in the store - I stopped counting past 30 minutes because I got a refund and peaced out. I wasnt the only one either as I likewise saw a few others wait over 20 minutes for their food IN A NEARLY EMPTY STORE. If you actually do decide to eat here, as you sit there waiting for your food, observe the staff and try to figure out what they actually get paid to do. Best thing I can guess is that half of the staff is paid to run around like chickens with their heads cut off - maybe they think it fits some kind of chicken burrito theme.

Ive picked up their chicken tikka masala burritos from their food truck countless number of times. I finally made it into their restaurant. I ended up ordering their 8 items plate which you can select 2 of the main dishes. It came with a chickpea curry, salsa, pickled ginger, rice and naan. I was disappointed that the naan was generic try that I could pick up at an Indian grocery store and it wasnt even warmed up. The rice was also cold. My daughter got their burger which was constructed with an open samosa and keema with a sweet snd spicy sauce. Ill get that next time Im there. They also ran out of chips and have her a side of crisscross sweet potatoe fries. The fries were ok, i believe they were the frozen kind that you just fry up. Here you order and seat yourself. They have several large tables for groups but I can image it can get very crowded here. One negative is that the table we sat at was dirty (some food was on the table) and they had buckets with napkins and utensils scattered here and there so you had to get them from another table if yours didnt have a bucket.

I ordered a vegan burrito online thinking that I would get as the description says "La Palma tortilla, chana masala (garbanzo beans), turmeric rice and sliced onions with your choice of protein". I didnt selected any protein. Well when I took a few bites I came across some crunchy potatoe tasting item. I called the contact number on the website and spoke to a man. He did apologize and said he would mention it to their website designer. I asked him what he could do for me and he said he couldnt give me a refund. I told him that I looked at the description of the item and I got more than what was on the description. He shouldve offered a refund or offered to put in a new order for me. Im left a very unsatisfied customer. I was on my lunch break and tried to get the most convenient and fast item but it didnt workout that way. This is the 3rd time I go after placing an order online and when I get there, my order isnt ready and this is after receiving the text.

Pro: I love love love the food and drinks at Curry Up Now. Love. Every bite Ive had has been delicious, unique, and authentic yet innovative. The portion sizes are perfect and I leave totally satisfied every time. Curry Up Now prices are also pretty standard for the area, nothing crazy expensive and you dont feel broke leaving after a big meal. Grow: Although the food has been great, the service hasnt always been. Ive been to this location three times now and each time am baffled at how... absent minded my waiter has been. Either they greet us quickly then circle around us but never take our order OR take two orders out of three people, then just walk away mid order not even asking if that was our complete order or not. Very odd. Either way, I do love the food so if you havent already been to Curry Up Now from any location, I fully recommend it!

I first tried Curry Up Now at an Off the Grid food truck event in Oakland trying their naughty naan (open face sandwich). Its like a pizza with curry meat on naan bread. And we all know how amazing naan bread is :) Today, I wanted to try something different and went with a quesadilla with lamb. The lamb was tender and soaked with flavor. The naan breading was crisp to perfection. The quesadilla had healthy portions of lamb and cheese in it. Will definitely get the quesadilla again! $9.75 for a quesadilla is a bit pricy given a quesadilla (super suiza) at El farolito would be like $6.25 but having the curry flavored meat is a nice touch if you enjoy a Mexican quesadilla but with an Indian twist. Staff was courteous, place was clean, accepts credit cards.

Please change the supervisor. She isnt customer friendly at all. No social skills whatsoever. Not sure if she happened to have a bad day the day we were there. No welcome greeting, no help with the menu /item descriptions and so on. The waitress girl was very helpful. Tried her best to keep up with the orders. This was our first time here and not sure if Ill visit again. Maybe Ill give them one more chance if Im in the area and really craving for street food. Oh by the way, the menu items listed have Indian street food names and such but when it comes to taste, feels like they bought frozen food from Indian grocery stores and served them after heating them up in the kitchen.

Really terrible service. Have been served meat 2 twice now - once two years ago at the Palo alto location and again at the 659 Valencia, San Francisco location last week. It is really mentally disturbing for a vegetarian to have had meat even if it was just one bite but apparently this place doesnt respect peoples sentiments. Had stopped eating here after the first incident but then thought maybe I should try again after 2 years and the problem still holds. Nothing changed after complaining and requesting them to improve on their staff. This has happened to another friend of mine as well. Extremely extremely disappointed with curry up now. Swear to never ever visit here again.

I asked for suggestions in the menu, since this is a new concept of food for me, and the service was so bad, that was hard to order/enjoy the food. The woman that took our order was extremly rude. We asked her for suggestions in the menu and her answer was "I dont like anything in this place, so what are you having?". When we finally got a table, we asked the server to clear our table and he rolled his eyes, and took our glasses full of beer. We had to ask him if he could please give us new cups. The attitude of the Waiters was really bad.
