Ramen is a very versatile and universally appealing food and if the main components are well prepared, anyone would love it. Nishiki ramen is a business thats already successful in Japan, so they are clearly doing something right. At this location they make their own noodles and as good as they are, that may well be the restaurants limitation. Yes, the noodles are good and they give you A LOT of them. What you dont get enough of in your soup is the rest of the ingredients - meat and other topping, so you end up with a large portion of mostly pasta. The other part I was under impressed with was the broth. It is lacking in flavor and its a bit on the rich side with a good amount of fat floating on top. The egg was impeccably prepared and I really enjoyed it. The interior is modern and I especially liked the open kitchen as you can see how your food is prepared. The dining area is quite crowded though with more tables that they should have in this space. Prices at Nishiki are higher than other comparable places so if youre looking for value, there are better choices within a few miles.

I dont like writing negative reviews but this place definitely deserves it. First of all the service was decent. My waiter was friendly and polite, that was the only good thing about this place. From the moment I sat down and opened the menu I was disappointed. I had heard many positive things about Nishiki Ramen so it surprised me that there wasnt much variety of consistency in the starters or ramen options. Once my friends and I ordered our ramen and an order of the Katsu Chicken we waited more than 30 minutes for the food at which time only the Katsu was ready. Then had to wait about 15- 20 minutes for the rest of the food. The Katsu was very chewy and rubbery my friend could not finish their plate. As for the ramen my chicken ramen had pork in it which was dry and overcooked. The other ramen dishes that had been ordered were also extremely salty and you could see the fat floating on top of the broth. After a certain point we just couldnt enjoy the food, asked for the check and left. The first and last time I would ever eat here. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Walked in and signed in... 2 seconds after another couple walks in and signed in. The Hostess asked that couple how many in their party, Um Hello ? Was it because Im not Asian? So she seats them and then asked me if I was taking out? No... I signed in before the couple you just sat down. Just like them, Im here to dine in.. now she tells me its going to be a while. But wait... Isnt that an empty table? Nope.. you have to have more than 2 people in your party. I look around me and theres no one else waiting. Well... I guess I have a party of three. So third person never showed up, but my wife was given the most nasty looks... Im beginning to believe that this girl is racist. The food that was delivered was good. Never got my drinks. Maybe its just because Im not asian. But wait... Youre going to charge me for the drinks that never showed up? Hmmm... You may be racist but Im not stupid. Maybe its time to head to the classy joint across the street... "By the way the Hostesss name is Isabel"...

This is by far the best ramen I have ever eaten, though I am vegetarian and no aficionado so thats not the gold standard. Still, it was excellent. The service was not good when I was there, a crowded time. We waited forever just to place our order. Water took even longer than forever. I saw other patrons getting irritated with the poor attention, having to ask impatiently for a check, and finding errors in the bill. Also the area to pay and to wait for a table and to straighten out a check is basically the doorway, so getting in and out was a pain. Maybe they could move something around. Ill go back for the great food, but not when it is busy.

Service is super fast here. We came on a Sunday night and were seated immediately and got our ramen just a few minutes after we ordered. I had the vegetarian delight ramen, which was really good. I liked the mix of ingredients better than Tajimas vegetarian ramen, but it was just a touch too salty. My boyfriend got the smoke bomb black ramen. He said that hes had better ramen, but he still enjoyed it a lot and it disappeared very quickly. The location is really convenient, too. Its right off the freeway near Mitsuwa, and there are plenty of parking spaces.

Nikishi Ramen features tasty ramen and friendly service. One of my favorite places to have ramen in San Diego. My favorite is the BBQ cheese bowl with a hearty portion of pork, and slices of cheddar cheese that has been lightly toasted on the top. The broth is to die for, and sticks nicely to the noodles. With their portions, I always leave full! Nikishi also sports some appetizers , of which the Takoyaki steals the show. Dont expect to see basic sushi rolls on the menu like at most other ramen restaurants. 10/10, 10/10, 100/100; best ramen best ramen

The presentation and taste of both the tonkotsu and miso ramen was delicious, however, we ordered the large portion and it is basically $1.50 for extra noodles, but in the same bowl and with the same amount of broth. Besides not having enough broth, which was lukewarm at best, adding an egg is $2. Yes, 2 dollars for an egg, which was also cold. $15 for a bowl of ramen is entirely too expensive, when there are many other ramen choices in the area in the $9-11 range. Wavered between 3 and 4 stars, it was delicious, though.

No crazy line for us here, as I arrived earlier before the dinner rush, and got seated right away for a party of 4! I thought the establishment was larger. It is quit snug in there. I had a tough time deciding what I wanted. Smoke Bomb Black, Akuma, or Akuma with the death sauce!?!! To be safe I ordered the Smoke Bomb Black with a side of house hot sauce. It was good, the flavor was there, but my broth was not temperature hot like I would have liked it to be. The portion was right and ramen noodles was tasty.

This place isnt one of my favorite ramen places but definitely to visit. This is Nishiki Ramens first restaurant in the US so I had to visit. I tried the Spicy Miso, and it was okay. I normally dont order Spicy Ramen. This place is well known for its organic and fresh ingredients which definitely shows. It has a good presentation so be prepared to take some pics. Overall I had a good experience because of our server, he was great and the only reason why I would come back. He was very attentive and courteous.

Im not sure what the hype is for this place. Ive come twice and have been disappointed both times. I ordered Chicken Katsu this time and the chicken was so dry and rubbery and I ate about half because I was hungry before I came and waited an additional 15-20 minutes for the plate. The little salad that came with it was just old pieces of lettuce that were already turning yellow. The only good thing was the fries. Everything is pretty overpriced and I dont find the food worth it at all.
