Out of the various Ramen places I have been to in San Diego, this is my favorite. All their ramens (piggy, black, etc) are very traditional; the broth is pretty authentic and they add their own twists to it. It is very flavorful, the noodles are cooked to perfection, and best of all, THEIR SAKE COLLECTION is amazing. Its one of those places that is a hole in a wall but has exceptional food. Dory is a very nice waiter and is very attentive :) They also play anime on a TV ALL the time haha! Definitely sets the mood. The specials on the chalkboard change once in a while but they are all very good. The oysters are awesome as well as the Uni Ramen. Very tasty. If you are hungry for Ramen, definitely come here. Worth the drive if you are in north county...way better than what you will get on Convoy.

I had the special uni ramen. It was pretty good, and had a heavy seafood flavor to the broth. I think I would have liked the piggy ramen though. I sampled the broths of the piggy ramen, and the black garlic ramen, and both were pretty good. Was not a huge fan of the Japanese style fries. Im not really a fry person, UNLESS its poutine. We also had some kind of seared beef. I think it was the tongue? Anyways, I liked it, and was wondering why I was eating most of it. My friend knows one of the waiters well since they come here all the time, and he recommended (and gave us some extra) 2 really good sakes. One was strawberry and fruity and sweet, the other one was clear, sweet, and very smooth. Service was fast and friendly.

This is the best ramen place ever. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for about two years and we are never disappointed. Weve enjoyed a variety of their ramen bowls. My favorite is the black ramen and the piggy ramen. Both pack a powerful flavor! Not to mention the pork in the soup! OMG! Its heaven...the pork has been so expertly prepared it melts in your mouth. If you havent tried Izakaya Ouan, definitely stop in. Youll never want to try any other place and youll be dreaming about your next visit. I know I am!

I tried the Vegetarian ramen and it was absolutely delicious. The color of the broth made me a bit doubtful, but after tasting it, it was unlike any other other vegetarian ramen I have tried from different places such as Raki Raki, Nishiki ramen, and Hanaoka, etc. These places are reputable, but in my opinion Izakaya tops them all. The food and service is great and it is a very cozy place.

Ive only eaten here once so far. However, that was enough to make me want to return here often and definitely recommend it to others. The ramen was delicious, noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was savory. The service was fast and professional as well. Every dish my friends and I ordered was extremely appetizing. I cant wait to come back here again.

We ordered through ubereats delivery of piggy ramen + fried shumai. To be honest this is the worst Ramen, I have ever had. It tasted like Maggie noodles cooked in 2 min Fried shumai (prawns) didnt taste as good as expected. Please avoid.

Do you like Ramen? Sushi? Random Japanese appetizers? Look no further. This is by far and away the best Ramen in San Diego. The broth is lip-smacking perfection, the portions are generous. If you leave here hungry, youre doing it wrong.

Tucked in the corner of a small parking lot this is a nice hidden treasure. Probably the best Karaage Ive had along with great Japanese beer selections and ramen with a rich broth.

The chicken karaage is a must-try as well as the wasabi fries. Had the ramen and couldnt get enough. Definitely one of the best Japanese spots in San Diego.

Pretty good ramen. They had a deal for one entree, one roll, and one drink for about $15.50. The place is in an unassuming corner in Hillcrest.

The black and red ramen are fantastic! So flavorful, more so than some other "reputable" ramen places in SD.
