When visiting a chain restaurant, you are not always expecting the world. You expect the same food, decent service and to be out quickly. One of our favorite chain restaurants is Red Robin. The burgers are great and usually the experience is ok, this was not an Ok experience. WE went to the San Bruno location at 1274 El Camino Real. When first coming in we could see that they were quite busy, the host was friendly and went to clean a table. We noticed an empty table at the bar and asked if we could go there. The server greeted us quickly, and was very friendly. The table was quite dark, as three-yes three, surrounding lights were out. Two ceiling lights and one table light, so we used our flash lights on our phones to read the menu. We ordered- and waited. And waited and waited, Finally 40 minutes after ordering our food arrived. My husband ordered a double bacon tavern- no tomato- and received two patties cheese and a limp piece of lettuce. It was so beyond ridiculous. I went to find my server; I think the bartender offered to help me. He went and had the order remade- he was very friendly and it was appreciated. So, as we waited for my husband I ate my cold chicken sandwich. The server, and her co-worker checked on us and not once did we see a manger touching any table. The place was packed, I completely understand delays, but the terrible food AND the wait I do not. This is where it gets good- the manager brought out the remake. He seemed so uncomfortable and out of his element. He dropped it and asked if we needed anything else. It was infuriating- maybe he was waiting for the cue. We explained the wait, the time, everything and he just stared blankly. I went to get a to-go box. We paid the bill on the kiosk and left. Never did he apologize, empathize or even address anything. The staff here is great, much friendly than some Red Robins. The cooks were obviously behind because the food was terrible- but the condition of our food also looked like it had sat for a long time so I am guessing expediting suffers here as well. Maybe if the manager floated more on the floor. I can tell you this- the man was a large easily spotted individual. Not once did I see him on the floor, at any table or on the line. The staff seems to runs independently but not well enough.

lots of menu options, if only the service was as good as it used to be. lets set the way back machine to when they first opened. cheap big beers on draft served in a proper glass, in fact they brewed some of their own. food was fast and chain-like but still decent. they had people who opened the door for you on the way in and out and welcomed/thanked you, a fun place to eat. fast forward to today. the entire wait staff seems to be people on their first job fresh out of high school. they come by your table 3 times to check on you, as if the food is so bad youre going to die or something. on none of these visits were my bottomless fries or drink refilled. i didnt get water the whole meal though we asked for it. my girl ordered a malt and she got a vanilla shake. the beer. I ordered a 22oz Guinness since they had it on tap. seeing that the fellow in the next booth had some tasteless lager in a frozen mug, i asked for a room temperature glass. she comes back with my beer (which had a huge head of foam as if poured to quickly) in a frozen mug. she said thats all they have, they freeze them all. i wonder how they can wash them when they are frozen, but anyway.. i send her back to get a straight bar-issue pint glass as shown on the menu photo, she comes back and puts it on the table, empty, as if to say, here is your glass, im a bimbo so you figure it out. well, on the 3rd check-up/interruption they put the check on the table mentioning something about the desert menu, but the attitude is more like, well youve eaten, someone needs your table, pay and get out. food was meh, not bad, not great. you get what youd expect. its the service that really brought me back before, but i wont be returning to this location anytime soon.

The mind boggling options! I went here after briefly hearing "$6.99 burger" and "endless fries" on the radio. The $6.99 burger is in fact a mini one, and you have about 20 other more expensive burgers to choose from. Then pick your bun type of like 5 options, as well as your dipping sauce (about 5 classic options or pay more for a premium flavor - more options.) Want to upgrade your fries to sweet potato or garlic? (Dont get the garlic fries - its garlic salt, not garlic). My husband wanted a milk shake. What flavor? the waitress asked. Classic or with refill? Etc etc the whole ordering process was stressful. The paradox of choice to the max. Food was decent. Reminded me of middle school birthday parties of yesteryear.

just left what used to be my favorite place for a great burger.ordered the Big Tavern burger, when it arrived I asked if was the BIG tavern burger ,what I saw was just an average burger at best ,special sauce was nothing more than ketchup and mayo{maybe some relish} applied sparingly ,lettuce, tomato and a 1/4 pound or less patty if there were onions they were undetectable, the once awesome fries were obviously kept under a heat lamp, they were not moist and not very hot.I opted for the BIG Tavern over the Double tavern burger thinking it must be BIG ,you charge more for it guess those two patties are really small.Guess great marketing wins out over great food NICE pictures though.

Our experience here is always hit or miss. The food is great, but the service is often lacking. Weve learned our lesson about trying to come here during Friday night dinner, but we figured wed take a chance on a Sunday lunch. We got a seat in the bar right away and then waited for 20 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us. We tried to get her attention to say we were ready to order and she responded that she had 14 tables to take care of. They really need to figure out the seemingly perpetual understaffing problem here. We opted to not add a 15th table to her workload and went elsewhere for lunch.

The food just wasnt good, dried hamburger pattys, very small amount of fries with your burger, everyone in my group had mostly burnt fries, very disappointing, and our server was rushing us out we would have ordered desert but she brought our receipt without offering for us to order anything else. She also never refilled our drinks and spent most of get time socializing with other servers, we were a small group of 4 so service could have been way better, we all agreed to just never go back, better to spend money elsewhere.

Tables were filthy, and the food was bad. We were asked to choose from the filthy tables, sit down, then allow the server to clean the table when he had time. (Ridiculous!) The servers uniform was dirty all around his large gut, and he only half-cleaned our table. The lettuce in the salad was old and bitter. The fries were undercooked. The burger was obviously grilled without any seasoning and lacked flavor. We were very disappointed, and we rushed to get out of there.
