Worst experience my family has ever had at a restaurant! It was late and we were close to Norms so decided to stop here for dinner. Please do yourself a favor and dont make the same mistake! Upon arrival, there was a party of three waiting to be seated and plenty of open seating. We waited 10-15 minutes to be seated and only addressed this issue after a party of 6 walked in and was told they would immediately be seated and to step to the side. Once seated, we asked to speak to the manager and were advised he was on break and would come to our table in about 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes we asked to speak to the manager again, he arrived about 10 minutes later. We addressed the seating issue with manager "Austin Phifer" who argumentatively stated he had proof that we only waited 5 minutes to be seated and verbally questioned whether or not my wife was recording him with her cell phone. At this point my wife asked to see the proof. (Keep in mind, when signed in there was no time logged to indicate when we arrived) After 20 minutes, Austin returned with times hand written on the back of receipt paper stating this was his proof. My wife stated the times were incorrect and asked where he obtained the information. At this point another man by the name of "Dominic" stormed up to the table and interrupted by stating he was a manager and "In fact, it took 7 minutes for you to be seated!" (This changed the whole conversation) When my wife challenged him, he aggressively pulled the food off our table, loudly advised us he does not need our business or us harassing his staff and ordered us out of his restaurant. Now there is a right way and a wrong way to treat a customer, had "Dominic" asked us to leave we would have, however he stood at the table and yelled at us to leave "his restaurant". I was completely shocked by the unprofessional and extremely rude outburst. To make things worse he walked about 50 feet back to the counter, slammed our food in the bus trays and again yelled at the top of his lungs for us to get out of his restaurant. At this point we were embarrassed and shocked at the situation. When I asked him what his problem was I heard him tell someone to call the police and he ran behind the counter. At this point we had the attention of the entire restaurant and decided to do as Dominic "ordered" and left the restaurant. But wait......theres more!!! As we left, we asked the cashier the names of the two managers we had been dealing with and she gave Austins name without any hesitation, but looked scared to death to give us Dominics name. In fact, when we attempted to get his last name, she kept looking over her shoulder and saying she didnt know it. So on the way home we called back to the restaurant to obtain Dominics last name and when placed on hold, guess who got on the phone? Of course it was the "Captain of Customer Service" , Dominic. When my wife asked for his last name he responded with "dont worry about it" and proceeded to state my wifes name and the number she was calling from. Then for a closing he informed her that he has turned her phone number over to the police because he felt threatened. Really!!!!???? Being a business professional at the management level of customer service, quality assurance, and compliance, this was the most unprofessional public display of customer service I have ever seen. If one of my employees or managers ever acted this way, they would be fired. To be yelled at and treated like this by a manager is unacceptable in any circumstance This experience reminded me why I quit taking my family to places like Norms. They employee uneducated managers who dont have the first clue on how to act properly in a public setting. Austin appeared like a new manager and will most likely succeed if given the correct coaching and development. Dominic on the other hand, isnt qualified to drive the truck that picks up trash from my curb every Monday morning. I generally dont go off on public forum tangents like this, however these circumstances warrant it.

SHARING POST FROM FACEBOOK ; If this is not appropriate please delete. I just want to let know whats going on in Riverside Ca and at the same time know if this situation would fall under the "we reserve the right to refuse service" rule. Tonight I have to say my heart was broken into million peices. My friend and I decided to go to Norms for a hot cup of coffee and hot cocoa, as I parked my vehicle I saw a homeless person sitting on the sidewalk not bothering anyone or asking anything from anyone. Clearly he was cold as I saw him trembling so I asked him if he would like to join us for a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa and he said yes. As soon as we all walked inside the restaurant the host gave us a bad look and before I could say anything what it seemed to be the manager loud in front of everyone asked if it was just us two, my friend and I. I said no, its a party of three and I pointed including the homeless man. Once again the Manager loudly said "no, we dont allow THAT". I was puzzled as my emotions were mixed with anger, sadness and confusion. I asked him why are you referring to him as that and refusing service to all of us. He said it was the policy. I waited until the manager sat everyone else and asked him to explain his policy to me but he didnt explain anything all he said he has had situations with "those" in the past and can no longer have them in their premises. I explained to the man that he, the homeless man had not asked or begged for anything and that he was our guest. He didnt care, he wouldnt give us any service. So we all left I just cant believe someone or a business could refuse him and us service, its not like it was going to be free, it was going to be paid. And Norms is not no 5 star restaurant either. The most painful part was when the manager kept on referring to him as "that". Sadly this is the world we live in now where kindness and compassion are no longer in some peoples hearts. I took the man to Albertos and had him choose a hot meal. As of for me Im sleeping tonight with a heavy heart because of the disbelief that this happened tonight. So does that situation fall into we reserve the right to refuse service??

To start off I went with my Girlfriend we had never been to a Norms and had been wanting to go for a while so we came to the one in Riverside. Worst mistake ever. They sat us near the windows with the long "white" curtains which were extremely filthy. Food stains all over them. I told our server if there was a way to open the curtains so I didnt have to look at it she said no Im sorry I cant with attitude. I asked to be seated somewhere else away from the curtains. She was really rude about it and said to sit over there the seats were much better and I thanked her. She went to go get us silverware and brought me a fork and spoon she couldnt find a clean spoon for my girlfriend because she kept looking through her tray of spoons apparently the clean tray of spoons were all dirty. She managed to find a "okay" and give it to her. We looked at the spoon and it looked dirty still. When got our food pretty quick I want to say 3 mintues after our server gave us our food she came back around and gave me the bill and said have a nice day. While I was still eating no where near done with my food I had just got my plate. I observed others but she didnt do the same with other people I felt really offended because she did that to me and she did that to another couple in front of us. I will never go back to this place again. Im really scared to see what happens in the kitchen of norms see know how dirty the restaurant is. DO NOT GO TO THIS NORMS STAY AWAY.
