We stayed for one night at The Mission Inn for our 7 year anniversary. It was a treat something weve always wanted to do. The hotel itself is beautiful and we had a blast walking around and exploring the halls. The room itself (a Raincross Room) was cozy and a bit basic, but also charming. One of our windows was stuck shut so we could only open the one side but we didnt mind that so much because the window opened very wide and so we were still able to get plenty of fresh air and look out the window together and enjoy the view. the most amazing thing about this room is the sheets. Oh my god the sheets! I believe the term my boyfriend used was that they felt like they were woven from the eyelashes of butterflies. Softest. Sheets. Ever! There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room, (just a minibar which we were told is too cold to place food items in because it will freeze everything.) We were then told we could pay a $20 charge to have a fridge delivered to our room. We declined. Overall our stay was pleasant. Our biggest complaint about the place is that they want to nickel and dime you to death with all of the extra charges for things that most hotels (ones Ive been to anyway) have as standard. Especially the insane parking fees. I understand charging for valet parking - thats a privilege and a luxury - but just the regular parking lot should be free for guests of the hotel. I suppose its an upscale hotel and they figure if you can afford to stay there then you dont mind paying for all of the little "extras". The elevators are incredibly tiny so if youre claustrophobic beware and think about taking the stairs. The Inn is decorated beautifully and theres always something new to look at around every corner. We had dinner at La Tratoria, the Italian restaurant downstairs, and the food was fantastic! Our waiter seemed a little aloof and was sort of hard to track down (disappearing for long periods of time, etc.) but overall it was a really great meal. Do yourself a favor and try the Innkeepers Pasta. That paprika cream sauce is to die for! When we checked out the next morning one of the hotel staff (a man working the bellhop by the vallet) was incredibly nice and gave us some fun history about the hotel and the mission. I could kick myself for not asking his name because I wanted to call the hotel and compliment him on his lovely service. He was definitely the nicest person we dealt with their. I dont know that we would stay here again because we are not rich people and what they charge is really out of our price range. But it was definitely fun and Im so glad we got to do it. If I do save about my money again Id be much more interested in getting some treatments at Sallys Spa which smelled incredible every time I walked past it. Maybe we can tick that off the list next year on our 8th anniversary. :)

After my mother held her 50th birthday party at Mission Inn, we decided it would be grand to hold our wedding there. Thinking we may need to reserve well ahead of time, we were able to make an appointment with someone to book the venue for October of 2010. During the appointment, they made us first option for our date since they said we could not put a deposit down for any date over a year away. September 2009 came around, we called 2 times before being able to come in contact with the woman we originally spoke to. She said we were still first option and no one else has put their name on for the same date. October 1st came, we left two messages and went down to the Mission Inn to give our deposit for our date. We were told that we would have to wait until the woman we first spoke to was back to the office to provide our deposit. October 3rd, I received a message stating that another party had booked our date and if any other date would be available. It upset us greatly, as we had already told our family that we were first option for that date and the woman had explained to us that we would be given 10 days from October 1st, to provide our deposit. A deposit we had tried countless times to give. However, because we liked the Mission Inn we decided that we can change our date to accommodate the hotel!!! We tried seven.... SEVEN times (that is leaving messages) with the same woman and we never received a call back. We then contacted the catering office to book a different date and every time we were forwarded to an answering machine. We then decided that maybe, their answering machine was full (of our messages no doubt), so we went down to the Mission Inn. Every time we went down, the concierge desk would explain that the people we needed to talk to in the catering department were out of the office. We did this for about two and half months. How are they out of the office for 2.5 months? We finally wrote a letter to the general manager of Mission Inn asking why we were being ignored and not gaining the service we were accustomed to as when my mother had her grand birthday party. We never received a letter back. An associate of mine, held her wedding at the Mission Inn. She too explained that she had received poor service even after giving them her deposit. She explained that two months before her wedding, she had difficulty gaining contact from anyone in the catering department. She explained that the month of her wedding and prior she received excellent service, however she explained that if she were to do it again, she would choose a different venue. Though the Mission Inn is a wonderful hotel with exceptional food, they truly need to fix their issues in their event catering department.

My wife and I decided to stay at the Mission Inn for a one night getaway. When we arrived the valet service was curteous and helpful. The front desk got us checked in swiftly. Our Raincross room was nice. It felt a little small but had a small balcony and window seat in a large window which made the room feel larger and more open than it would otherwise. The room had a safe, TV, desk, Keurig coffee maker, hair drier, iron, ironing board and robes. The room itself was clean, however the bathroom had not been cleaned. The toilet had been left used but not flushed and the shower had hair and soap residue. We were dissapointed and called the front desk who offered to send up housekeeping; they were apparently fully booked and changing rooms didnt sound like it was an option. We had dinner reservations and needed to get ready. We planned to have housekeeping clean the room while we were at dinner. When we left our bags at the front desk to head to dinner the young woman who had checked us in heard what happened and asked if we wanted a new room. She said she would speak with her supervisor and let us know when we came back after dinner if another was available. When we returned they had decided to upgrade us to a Mission King up on the 4th floor. We greatly appreciated the change of room and the upgrade. The Mission King was extremely spacious and was very nice. There was also a very small balcony you could step out on. The bathroom had some counter space (which the Raincross room lacked). The bathroom counter had some hair leftover and the shower light was burnt out. The front desk sent someone right away to fix the light. The room had all the same amenities as the Raincross with a few more specialty hygiene items from Kellys Spa. Oddly, this room did not have any robes. Later in the evening we found a cricket in the room. In the process of chasing and disposing of the cricket I found an engagement/wedding ring underneath the bed which I returned to the front desk. We made use of the jacuzzi during our stay. The pool and jacuzzi were very clean and there were plenty of clean towels available poolside. Overall we enjoyed our stay although its clear the cleaning service needs improvement. The Mission Inn is a special place for my wife and I so well be back but it will be with that reservation in mind.
