If you have not been here recently, then you have not been to the NEW Catalina Kitchen. It has been beautifully remodeled, has a new menu and is very warm and inviting. We just discovered this last night for a birthday dinner. Most importantly, the food was incredible. The Butcher Block meat and cheese platter was one the best Ive had and the presentation was amazing with olives, figs, jam and much more. I enjoyed the Black Cod which melts in your mouth, my wife loved her short ribs. Portions are not huge so do yourself a favor and begin with one of their starters, which includes fresh seafood platters. The decor is beautiful and fits right in with the California coast that it overlooks. The patio has comfortable seating with inviting heaters to take the chill off. There is even a great lounge area with fire features. Its a nice spot to meet new friends, both local and travelers. The bar has an incredible wine selection, local beers and creative cocktails. Friday nights they do a seafood buffet that has to be seen to be believed. Excellent fresh quality that will make you want to try new things. They also told us that starting 3-12-17 they are going to start doing a Beef buffet that Im sure will not disappoint. These options are not cheap, but you truly get what you pay for; excellent food and service. Speaking of service, Nicholas, our waiter for the evening, could not have made us feel more welcome, special, pampered and relaxed. He was both informative and attentive. Perfect timing and he anticipated our every need. We will be back often. Final Tip: take the time after dinner to explore the resort. Terranea has walking paths everywhere that lead you to secluded fire pits surrounded by luxurious chairs and couches. Whether you are vacationing here, or just want to feel like you are on vacation when you are minutes away from home, as we were, Terranea truly lets you get away from it all and reminds you what life should actually be about. Enjoy!

Good food, bad service. For the price point, the service needed to be of much better quality and polish. We went during Sunday brunch as business was declining, and there were innumerable errors that are simply unacceptable: Lack of attentiveness, order taken incorrectly, food not delivered timely, empty bottles and glasses not cleared even after a new round of drinks was delivered, and said drink order needed to be clarified 3 times before being taken care of 15 minutes after initial contact. Nothing was comped, as well as additional items that were not ours being on the check. To be clear, this was not the fault of a single server, but rather a collective effort which suggests an issue with the service culture. Quite a shame, because the facility is great, and the food was good all around. Could use an expanded draught beer list.

Brunching looking over the beautiful ocean shore front at The Catalina Kitchen at Terranea Oceanfront Luxury Resort in Palos Verdes. Had the Dill Cured Salmon Gravlax (cream cheese, red onion, capers, vine ripened tomato, everything bagel) & Monterey Scramble (bloomsdale spinach, apple wood pepper bacon, roasted tomato, aged tillamook cheddar, roasted potatoes, sourdough bread) which were both delightful! The staff is nice and the views are amazing! Tip 1: Wear shoes you can walk with because after eating you will definitely want to walk around (the trails, the beach) and enjoy the scenery. Tip 2: If you do get sick of walking or want to get back to the parking area, the "golf cars" (Im not sure what the technical name is) they usher you back here and there, so you can ask the drivers to take you back :)

Our breakfast was good, but expensive. I liked my cinnamon roll French toast (with a side of bacon), and my wife liked her granola with yogurt. Our bill for these items, juice, and hot tea was $50, not including the tip. The service was good and the setting on the patio near the pool was very pleasant. When we were checking out from Terranea, they tried to charge us for an additional $67 breakfast they we didnt eat. Im not sure how this happened, but I recommend carefully reading your final bill when you check out.

Went on a Friday seafood buffet. I tend to think snow crab was a bit overcooked. My friend got the king crab legs for $20 more, but looked pretty good. It is pretty expensive but the buffet selection is excellent. I really liked the shrimp, fresh horseradish, clam chowder, smoked salmon. Fresh made ice cream is soft with wide variety of toppings. Great Pacific Ocean views even though part of the trail was closed. Definitely date night worthy.

Very disappointed in our Sunday brunch. Have been enjoying brunch at Catalina Kitchen for years. Yesterday after our party was seated, we asked to see the menu & the waiter informs us that ordering off the menu is no longer an option on Sunday!! The only dining option is the $60 per person buffet!!!! Since we had out of town guests we stayed, but all of us were extremely disappointed. $300 for breakfast for 4!!!!

Had brunch there today for the first time with my husband, 2 daughters and my mother-in-law. I suppose it was our fault not checking out the price per person, however it was shocking to see the bill @$342. We all had an omelet, potatoes and bacon, and I had some cut fruit. So not worth the price. Oh, and the service does not meet the price.

Food here is pretty good but where this place shines is the cocktails menu. We found out about this place in an article that said they are one of the top cocktail bars in the nation. That being said your wallet is going to be a lot lighter when you leave this place. Still I recommend this place to anybody looking for a great cocktail bar..

Best weekend brunch experience ever! The food is amazing, the presentation is beautiful and the staff who work here are all so friendly in showing you around the different stations here. Come here if you want to eat a ton of food at a great price and be blown away by the views from the property!

Dinner service is really good! Everyone is extremely attentive to your requests. Not too busy. Two servers were waiting on us simultaneously. Food quality is about 4/5 stars. Basically par for fancy restaurants. Every course had some interesting yet subtle twist which made the meal enjoyable.

We stayed at the hotel and asked for a table. Though the restaurant was 2/3 EMPTY they insisted it would be a half hour wait. Obnoxious and a bad representation for the hotel.

Food was not impressive but just good, coconut soda was too sweet it would rather be suggested as a desert not a side drink to you meal
