BEWARE: Never ever go here. Ever. I just walked out 5 minutes ago after having one of, if not the worst burritos and salsa ever. I walked in to this "restaurant" because it was close to where I was and the only waiter there was in no rush to serve me. It took more than a minute to get any service and when he finally did give me a menu, I didnt see him again for another 5 minutes. When he finally remembers theres actually someone in the restaurant, he asks what I want and I regretfully get the Carne asada burrito. I regret it because it was an awful, no flavor burrito. I couldnt even finish it so I waited to get the check which unsurprisingly, literally took 20 minutes to get. When I finally receive the check, I pay with cash and another waitress grabs it and then gives me my change back. All Im left is debating if I should even leave a tip. I leave a $1 tip for the waitress that actually did more in 30 seconds I saw her than the 45 minutes I was in this dump. I walk out and shortly thereafter, I see the waiter chase me out the restaurant saying I didnt pay. At this point Im flabbergasted because of the blatant stupidity and profiling going on. I say profiling because why else would the same waiter be sitting in front of me watching me, assuming I would walk out. Why would I walk? Because Im black? I laugh and walk away. If this place goes out of business tomorrow it would be a great day. Will update tomorrow when I get that waiter or probably owners name.

I have been frequenting Ranchero Mexican Restaurant for 34 years. I have also been on a life-long search for the best Chicken Mole. I have tasted mole in 3 different countries and in many different restaurants around Los Angeles. Ranchero serves the best. Additionally, this family run restaurant, with generation 2 at the helm is kid friendly, exudes welcoming charm and serves up a variety of dishes for anyone who enjoys authentic mexican food. I left LA 10 years ago and I make a special trip at least once a year to get my fix from Ranchero.

Great margaritas BUT I started noticing my bill was often wrong (and not cheaper). It gets embarrassing to have to keep bringing it up. A friend told me thats why she doesnt go there anymore. She also said another friend quit going for the same reason. The bills are hand written and very vague as to what you actually got.

The din from the tiny bar is like standing in front of the Marshall stacks at a Who concert, with the dial set on "11" (a-la "This is Spinal Tap"). No acoustic noise management, absolutely deafening reverb bouncing off uninsulated surfaces, could not hear my companions conversation. And, mushy canned ingredients galore.

Generous portions for lunch. The entrees are large enough to split between two with moderate appetites. Service is friendly and has the feel of a neighborhood joint!
