I have been to this place several times and ever since the first time, this place starts to look worse and worse. This Gen (which is part of a chain restaurant) is pretty bad after trying the original Gen in Tustin. The first time I tried this place was magical, it was shiny and modern and the plates of meat they gave us was not questionable. Our server was M.I.A. at times but I was too distracted with the shiny objects and how this became the first AYCE (All-you-can-eat) KBBQ in the county. (All that experience is covered in my blog). The second time I came here our server told us we can order four plates at a time (with a party of four) and I started to see they did not give us a lot of meat at a time and we had to wait until the next round of meat came. Third time I went with someone who has been to more KBBQs than one can count on their fingers. It was a waiting game and we had to talk to other servers who kept saying; "Ill get your server." Really? The Gen in Tustin is all servers share all the customers. This recent time a couple of weeks ago is we had a party of 24 and it was ONE server!! And what really got to me was there were two male servers standing in the corner, where the computers to input the orders, talking to one another. Our poor server was spread super thin and you would think it would be a two person effort to accommodate for a party that size. Other than that one pays for atmosphere not the food. The food itself is not marinated properly and how much meat you get per plate is a joke. . . a really sad joke where you dont know whether to laugh or cry about it. =/ I give it a two star because its a clean place and I havent found any hair, insect, or a dead rodent anywhere, but since servers really ruin the experience, theres lack of management, and whats it worth, it grinds me; hence a one star. If this Gen is suppose to be the stage of a new movement of food places to pop up here in the Ventura County, then they better try harder. If you have the money to cash out then I suggest trying it at LEAST ONCE (if you have to) because there are far better places in Los Angeles that would blow your mind.

This is a modern vibe, young, very popular restaurant. You can make a reservation, but there is a no wait policy. We didnt have a reservation, but the others didnt show on time, so we were seated in 15 min. on a Friday night at 6! Also, know that you cannot take home left overs, and you will be charged extra for leftover food. But, the food was delicious! We had no trouble eating it all. We ordered 10 different items served family style. The sevice was superb also! We really didnt know what we were doing, but the next table over did. They ordered brisket, calimari, pork...they were grilling constantly on the two grills provided IN the table. My only drawback is that is was so busy, and layout so open, that it was very difficult to hear the others at our table. Highly recommend this place, you will be glad you tried it.

Yes, at times the orders were not brought up quickly enough. Yes, our waiter forgot what I asked for couple of times. But all I can say after my first experience at GEN, was HALLELUJAH! and Thank You! for providing such a quality meal at such a low price. U can have 28 things on the menu ayce. I would just keep ordering the small portions and enjoy them while theyre working on filling everyones requests. My friend and I felt sorry for eating all them food for such a low price, we ordered a bottle of soju to make up some part of it. Thank you Gen for giving us a nice, clean place and great but affordable food to enjoy. Everyone was very sincere in attending to our needs.

This place will rip you off. Ordered all-you-can-eat for 2 people ($21 each), plus two drinks. Ended up paying $87 because they forced gratuity on my table, even though they didnt once bus any of our dishes, I had to chase them down to get water refill and sauces, dessert was never offered, and they refused to accommodate any bill splitting. Our food runner was disrespectful and seemed to be on drugs. My first and last time ever coming here, and I will not be recommending this place to any of my friends. Horrible service, okay food, and worst of all, unethical charging of the bill with no offer to fix the situation.

People in this restaurant are soooooooooooooooooo f****** rude and ridiculous!!! Dont go to this restaurant!!! We get there at 5 pm and there were lot of empty seats but they just didnt let us have seats. We waited more than 45 mins and we left the restaurant, one of our friend unintentionally push the door little bit hard since the door is extremely heavy. And they stopped us, try to keep us inside the property. And they even called the police. Wasting our tons and tons of time. Do not go to this restaurant. They just dont know how to treat their customers. 1 Star! Still Angry.

I love the food here. The waiters and table people are top notch. The greeters and the money takers are something else. When you go with 5 people they try to give me one burner. Ifbibwant 2 they make it seem like Im causing trouble. If two people go they get their own table for 4. If you have 3 people you get your own table. Its total rude and I will never ever go again... I have spent in my 4 visits there over $600. I will tell everyone I know not to go there. Manager and staff need to be retrained on their greet and wording when helping guests.

My family loves Korean food and we have eaten here several times because of the excellent food and service. Todays meal and service was excellent as usual. We arrived as a large group and were seated immediately. Our waiter was excellent, keeping up with all the orders we threw at him in a timely manner and with a great, helpful attitude, even for our off the menu requests. The only thing that needs to be improved is the mixed drinks, such as Long Island Ice Teas and Mojitos. These have been consistently bad.

Fun place to dine when you have a group! You get to try different meats and cook it yourself on the grill. Be warned. You will smell like barbecue afterward. Service can vary. The first time I went, the waiter was constantly replacing the grill plates so the food wouldnt stick. Second time around, we always had to flag our waitress to do so. We never got our kimchee refill for the table either. In the end, its a great deal for all you can eat. $20 for dinner! Definitely check it out.

Meeting with my friends for Dinner. They were there before me. The host said no I couldnt sit and eat with friends. It was rude and not friendly. I couldnt believe that they wouldnt set me to eat. Wow. Really. Crappy customer service skills. I will never spend my money at this location ever. Turning away paying customers is bad for business. Attitude and rudeness will show your guest your true colors. I have never been so pissed off at how someone talks to and treats they guests.
