Found Hegenburgers back in the early 1990s. What hooked me was the double hegenburger with cheese and bacon. You let the grease drip on your fries as you eat the burger & clean it up when you finish the basket off. Johnny was the original owner. He was a great guy and loved to chat with him. His son took over for a while, but they eventually sold it off and moved on. The cool thing, back in the day, was you would rub elbows with some of the Warriors and Raiders that would stop in for lunch. It was a regular hangout for them & you could get to know some of the guys off the field/court. I make it an effort to go there whenever Im in the Oakland area. Even though Johnny has moved on, the ladies that cook the burgers are still there & they know how to make the best burger outside of the Midwest....bar none.

I seen some good reviews on this place and decided to give it a shot... My burger was very dry the curly fries was overly salted. I mean come on how can you screw up on a simple cheeseburger???? And I was very hungry while eating this burger and was still not satisfied and Im not a picky person at all I mean I can almost eat whatever when Im hungry and be satisfied with whatever touching my taste buds smh... Customer service was nice and pleasant and all but Im not there for the customer service! I came to eat and I was not satisfied with this place. For everyone who gave this place good reviews dont know a damn thing about good food. I wont be going back to this place again

This is now open 7 AM-7 PM and serves Breakfast to Dinner. It is great food at great prices and quick. The new management is awesome and attentive. Sorry to see the old owner go as he was also very good. No change in quality and is as excellent as ever. If you have never been to Hegenburgers, it is time to stop in. You will not regret it. If you have been to Hegenburgers and havent seen the new crew, go for it. Orders over $50 are delivered....=-) Aweesome...Plus great burgers anytime. Walter

Great burgers and steak sandwiches. Last time I was there, I ordered the burger, fries and a soft drink. The "real" burger was the best Ive had in a long time. The fries were perfect. I went back to the self serve drink dispenser and got myself a second big cup of soft drink. A very satisfied customer here. Plenty of free parking. Easy to get to. Friendly staff. Nice clientele.

I love a meaty, cooked, juicy, burger. Nicely, done! No skinny, fake, tasting, In & Out burger. Lol Ordered a mushroom burger. Granted, I wouldve loved more mushrooms. It was still filling with lots of fresh fries. Impressed with the friendly service, and quick. Impressed, for a notso fancy, restaurant. It is Clean! No sticky tables like a majority of places.

Not many good food options around so of course I used Yelp and found this little gem. Sort of a hole in the wall divey type burger joint....and not in the best area of town. But the burgers were fresh cooked to order and very tasty. Service was good, had that mom and pop feel. Try the garlic fries!

The best thing about this place is the fact that no matter where youre from, traveling to, or who you root for on the TVs; when youre here, youre family. This place has the best food, atmosphere, and patrons on all of Hegenberger, hands down, no question.

Stayed at the nearby Hilton.. walked down/in to find an extremely friendly and wonderful experience.. akin to the Mom/Pop places throughout the Chicagoland area!! The food/fries were exactly as it should be!!

The Hegenburger has a well-seasoned patty, which is critical. Mayo is the default, but mustard and ketchup bottles sit on the tables. Overall, a good burger at a decent price with no pretense whatsoever.
