Totally a hidden gem. What a great place. So did not expect this place to be so great. The food was unbelievably fresh. We literally tried almost everything on their brunch menu, the first time we went. Portions are on the smaller side so it leaves you room to order multiple combinations of items. However I feel the food was very inexpensive considering the quality of what was getting served. Very good bargain alert! * Breakfast sandwich $8 (scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, hp sauce.) * Shepherds pie $12 (lamb, mashed potatoes, parmesan) * Curried split pea w/ bacon soup $3 cup * French onion soup $3 cup * Scotch egg $5 (hardboiled egg, sausage, breadcrumbs, curried ketchup) * Sausage roll $5 (chicken apple sausage, puff pas try, cider mustard) * Toasties (hot pressed sandwich: sharp cheddar, tomato chutney, rocket) $7 All of these were amazingly fresh and delicious. With a special call out to the sausage roll. This was unbelievable. It reminded me of a Vienna beef bagel dog but instead of having hard bagel bread its a light and flaky pastry crust. This was to die for seriously! Dont let the less than thrilling website for this place deter you. Actually, come to think of it. Let it deter you. Please dont come here. The only negative I can see about this spot is it isnt a incredibly huge space and I can see it getting wildly busy in the future, and Id hate for that to happen so, yes please dont come here so it can remain the comfortable and cozy pub it is.

This place is so warm and charming. Its this spectacular bar, with great beer and cider selections. Their food is why I go, its all about the chicken salad sandwich. I know that doesnt sound exciting, but theirs really is the best Ive ever had. It has fresh slices of crisp apple, bacon, a ton of chicken, and this wonderful soft, warm bun. The place is reminiscent of any pub in London, but with Oakland food and drink quality. I also love they have one of my favorite board games Power Grid on the shelf for anyone to play.

just moved here from central massachusetts. that being said, my family is english, and its all half-assed "irish pubs" back home. this place is the real deal, and this is from an east-coaster. ive been to liverpool, manchester, london, and i feel right at home here. great beers, great authentic british fare, rod stewart on the stereo, and premier league ball on the telly. good thing i live right down the street, im looking forward to becoming a regular here to watch the Reds lose again, womp womp :(

I had heard great things about this place and wanted to try it out. I have been there just once, that too for lunch, so might not do justice to them. I tried their fish sandwich and wasnt impressed. I will however go there and try out their dinner options, may be have a different review :-)

Outstanding sandwich. Got the Burning Brock and it was perfect. Great ownership, great service, great atmosphere . its funny -- the better a place is, the less I feel the need to write about it. A five-star rating kinda says it all.

Beer selection is solid. Staff are friendly and fun. Food is good especially the chicken salad salad if you want something lighter and healthy. Go for the Shepards pie or chicken pot pie if you want a more traditional pub treat.

Really really awesome atmosphere and environment in addition to being very genuinely an English-themed pub. Went with a British friend of mine who approved very highly. Also had my first Scottish egg which was downright amazing.

A+! Stopped in for an early lunch and stayed for a pint. Food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Extra high marks for including fruit I could not readily identify in their "not all melon" fruit bowl.
