For a restaurateur with John Howies reputation I was hoping for more particularly on the menu - its essentially just 3 items - burgers, pizza and sausage with heavy emphasis on all the fine ingredients, however whats delivered falls short of expectation, on taste, and portion size for the price. Dont get me wrong the food is not bad - if this were Bellevue or maybe the Hollywood Hills area of Woodinville Id get it, but not Bothell. Also it doesnt add anything to the cuisine options in Bothell - there are no other entrees except recently added fish and chips which multiple Bothell locations already offer. The setup of the venue itself is also quirky - its huge space and as others have noted, is very loud when busy. You literally find yourself shouting to person down the table from you. The bar itself has 2 massive beer taps that blocks the view of the bartender from majority of those seated at the bar. Also for such a large bar area next to a college youd expect more TVs - there are only 3 so it doesnt make it a good game viewing option. The beer is good but nothing special, lots of other local brews are more notable. For a quick beer or two after work during happy hour I have no complaints. Only time I will go for food now is like my most recent visit this past Friday - we had just finished a project and me and my coworkers were looking for a late dinner and beer. We tried 3 Lions and Anderson school but they were packed and we were hungry. We opted to come here and at 9:45 on Friday night the bar was only about 1/3 full. For two of them it was their first visit, they ordered some appetizers along with entrees - there were shocked at how little food they got for the price. $15 for the crab artichoke dip that that included just 5 pieces of flat bread? $9 for 8 onion rings? The bar was nearly empty by time we finished our meals and our waitress seemed in a rush to leave and brought us our check before we finished our drinks even though we were planning on more. We paid and moved to the bar where I chatted with the bartender a bit about some of my disappointments of the location. On the noise he said the cost of material and install was prohibitive and didnt sound like it was going to happen anytime soon if at all. On the lack of other entress he says weve been telling John but he doesnt listen to us you need to write to him. On lack TVs in the bar John doesnt want this to be a sports bar, he already has one - referring to Sport Restaurant & Bar across from the Space Needle. Oddly enough the menu at Sport has more entree choices and better prices then here in Bothell? That sums it up, this places leaves me confused and I cant currently recommend it.

We bought a Groupon for 4 persons to have 2 pretzel appetizers, 4 tasting trays and 2 growler w/ fills... The pretzel appetizers were good, as well as some of the beers. But, unlike every other place Ive had a beer tasting at, they force you to try one each of all their beers, whether you wanted to try them or not. Rather than being able to pick and choose which beer we each wanted to try. So there was about 12 half glasses of beer left over of the 24 they brought out (4-person Groupon). Also, we had to pay the tax for what the normal cost would have been. A) I dont believe I have ever had to pay any extra tax on something that the Groupon bought outright (rather than just a discount) ... and...B) Shouldnt the taxable amount be what we paid for the Groupon? Not the regular price. The waitress wasnt very good or that friendly. And I dont know if she was just frazzled or what but she tried to short change us $10 when we got our change back. We wont be going back here anytime soon.. except maybe to take a pretzel and a growler of beer to-go...

We went here the second week it was open, craving pizza and hearing they had artisan style. Well, I was disappointed in my pizza, artisan attempted, but the cheese was only on half, the meat was skimpy, and the fresh greens covered so densely that it looked more like a salad. Not what I expected from John Howie. The staff was friendly, I could tell they were still working out some bugs, but thats to be expected in the beginning. The beer was good, classic brewery style, nothing fantastic about it but quality and enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed, although, the all-concrete walls and flooring made it a bit loud. Not a place for quiet conversations. We tried to bring family the next night for late night eats, but they stop serving food after 10pm, even though theyre open for a few more hours...weird. Not even a limited menu, just stopped serving. I noticed the place was almost empty at that time, not surprising. Overall I will be trying this place again in a few weeks, let them work out the bugs.

I frequent this place often as I live close. What it is: Bright, inviting atmosphere makes this place an easy decision, especially for after work events or quick lunchtime meals. The dining area is large and roomy, with comfortable chairs and tables. Water is served out of clear, glass bottles, and the overall theme is quite classy. Entrees are delicious. Beer is flavorful with some original options. Hostesses are friendly and nice. What it isnt: This is not a sports bar. Three small TVs hang from obscure angles in the bar area. No TVs exist in the restaurant area. This is not cheap. An entree, appetizer and drink will easily run $50 before tip. This is not quiet. The noise level is ear shatteringly loud even with only a partially filled building. I have no idea why its so loud, but dinner time is almost unbearable. The bar stools suck. Seriously, they are so uncomfortable. Bottom line - great little spot. Get there early, grab a seat and enjoy some delicious food.

Im updating my review on Yelp to reflect the more recent experience I had. Beardslee Public House entertains a great casual vibe with an atmosphere that welcomes demographics of all ages. The staff greets you at the door with smiles and the waiting staff is on par! Coming from a customer relationship industry, I know the importance of customer service and it plays a huge role in how your business is seen. I havent met the cooking staff yet (maybe one I will!), but you can count on the chefs to bring you nothing but the best dishes to your table! My recommendations are: Greenleaf Jalapeno Hummus, Satay Turkey Burger, Pretzel with Smoked Gouda Sauce, and Veggie Burger. The menu gets updated frequently, which is great! Keeps the customers coming back for more! Overall, a great place to hang with friends, meet new friends (met a couple from LA - my hometown), and have a great time over food and local beverages. You had me at 4 Ginger IPA.

They are known for their pizza and burgers here. I had to order the charcuterie pizza which came with three types of meat on a pizza crust very similar to what you would find at Serious Pie. My friend ordered the charcuterie meat plate which had three types of meat including prosciutto and salami, a side of pate and pickled onions. Goes great with pizza crust! The charcuterie pizza does not come with pate on it though. Not sure how well it would taste like if it did. Customer service was great and prompt. My friend liked his Manhattan. Waiter was great at checking up on us especially for water and lemon wedges. Next time I will have to have one of their burgers as well as experience their happy hour. Great ambience with its high ceilings and yellow but not too dim lighting.
