The cheese enchilada I had on my first visit wasnt any better than any other place that I frequent. The chips cost an extra dollar and I did not order them. The dining room is large and I suspect it would be very loud if all the tables were full. I figured I would not go out of my way to come back anytime soon. Then I tried a bit of the chipotle salsa on my rice and I was planning when I could come back. The salsa had a wonderful smoky taste with just a bit of heat. The other menu item that I wanted to have again was an Alfajores. This Latin American cookie is a lighter shortbread type of cookie. It is filled with dulce de leche, a caramel of sorts then dusted with powdered sugar. It is very tasty cookie. People seemed to like the crispy deep fried taco. With salsa and cookies on my mind, I went back to try the tacos. It seemed the reasonable thing to do was to try a chicken and a steak taco. I thought the chicken was a bit dry. However the steak taco, stuffed with tender meat, guacamole, cheese, spicy salsa de arbol, and salsa fresca was perfect. I will definitely be back for the tacos, cookies and salsa!!

Loved this place since 2010 but my experience on 5/12/16 changed all that. My family and I grabbed an order for a late take-out - 3 burritos and an enchilada - almost 9PM. Now, I expect a lot of things in my burritos, but what I do not expect to find is a freaking WIRE. Yes, halfway through the burrito - sticking out from inside - was a length of wire. Had I swallowed it, Id have choked my way into ER. Called Cactus - it was past 9.30 by then and they close 10 - and was offered a free burrito. Not satisfied, my partner [who placed the order] visited the next day to be told by the Manager, José, that they couldve refunded but now it was too late! Are you kidding me? She explained our phone call, showed her receipt, showed a photo - nothing. He gave her credit. Credit for a place that dropped a wire in my last burrito? No thanks. Usually great food here, but apparently terrible complaint resolution. Pro tip: dont choke after 9.30PM!

Cactus Taqueria has food that is healthy, tasty, and inexpensive. Unlike many fast food Mexican restaurants like Qdoba, Cactus serves items like Chile Rellenos that require more preparation and cooking in addition to the usual fare. This means that the menu is reasonably extensive. Because they do not have table service but rather call your number, you do not need to tip. Thus, it is easy to having a filling, healthy meal for less than $10. There is also a salsa bar. The location is excellent, close to BART, shops, cafes, and markets.

Crispy Tacos are on . Was a little hesitant at first by the over all decor/menu Reminded me of chipotle, and rubios not a fan, sorry for being so blunt, but if i wanted whitesican food id go to tacobell and it wouldnt cost so much, but i digress muting the voice in my head telling me to run as fast as i can i ordered the crispy chicken tacos. #pleasantly surprised highly recomend if your in the land of oaks!

Perfect for when you need a quick bite or a place to bring the kids for a quality meal. Cactus has some of the best Mexican food, especially the Chicken Crispy Tacos (our guests enjoy those on our Rockridge Neighborhood Heritage food tour) and the Empanadilla. Seriously, I could possibly eat a whole dozen if youd let me!

I had the mejor steak burrito last night, and was a bit disappointed to find out that they steam their burritos. The steak had good flavor, but because of the softness of the tortilla due to the steaming process, it became a mess rather quickly as it fell apart. Burritos need to be grilled, yo!

Best Mexican food in east bay. Just wish Jose had more respect for customer waiting to give his order. He stayed on the phone while my husband waited to give an order. When he spoke to Jose, he told him to "Go away". Really didnt like that! Ill have to think about going back.

This place has some of the most amazing crispy tacos Ive ever had! Depending on how many people I go with, we all order a plate of 2-3 tacos with various meats and trade tacos to get a taste of everything. Love their salsa bar, too. The green salsa is where its at.

OK....I havent tried anything else here, because I could never get past ordering the crispy chicken tacos. My mouth waters when I think of them. After you eat them, youre in some kind of euphoria...your stomach feels so good. Trust me, you have to try them!

Consistent and great value. It reminds me of Tlolac in San Francisco. Great to order ahead and bring home for an inexpensive, filling meal. Also, I love the mini-options. It lets you get both a meal, and a snack on the side without breaking the bank.

Crispy tacos seem to be there most popular item but I have always loved the tamales. They are served with pickled onions and peppers, pico de gallo, salsa, and crema. Two is usually enough food for me.

The fish burrito was exquisite. Been on the east coast for a bit and coming home to this was wonderful. Paired with their Azteca salsa, this was amazing. Would definitely get again and recommend.
