I only gave one star not because of the food but what happened at the restaurant. My son sat underneath the shelf/display cabinet and I warned him about hitting his head when he gets up. Of course when he sat up to use the restroom, he hit the corner of this wooden display with the side of his head! No skin was broken but it was red. I immediately told one of the waiters what happened. His only reply or lack of reaction, "Ok" and walked away! I was furious with lack of concern! So I got up and asked for the manager. Only the co owner was present and told her what happened. Also, I told her that sitting area should not have that display hanging there. It is too low. It needs to be raised removed. Again no apology or sympathy so I demanded for ice and stared at that neanderthal , worthless waiter and shook my head in discust! Anyway, another employee finally came over and apologized up and down. Also, I warned her that if that wooden display is not raised higher or removed. Someone will be injured severely and this restaurant will sued! She said she will discuss it with the owners.

Was deciding between Thai or the Korean restaurant. Went for the Thai restaurant after seeing good reviews for it. Unfortunately, it wasnt as good as described =(. We had initially felt really good about the place given that it was staff with Thai folks. We ordered Thai ice tea (3/5), Pad Thai (2/5), Tom Yum Soup (2/5) and Mango Sticky Rice (2/5). Amongst the food we ordered, the thai ice tea was probably the best and most authentic. The rest of the food was just disappointing. The Pad Thai was dry and did not come with lime nor peanuts, I had to separately request for them. Tom yum soup tasted more like tomato soup, it was not spicy nor tangy in flavor. As for the mango sticky rice, the rice was pretty well done however, the mango was old and dry. On a positive note, they do have this lovely area with thai decor and lighting. The tables can be joined together, it can probably hold up to 20 people along the entire stretch. A really nice spot to gather with friends except that... the food aint great.

This is my go-to Thai restaurant in the Peninsula. I absolutely love it. I always get their Panang Curry and their noodles (Pad-Se-Ew and Pad-Thai). I come here mainly during lunch and their prices are reasonable (under $10 for a meal). They give you complimentary soup which is some sort of blended vegetable soup (changes each time). Looks like baby food but dont be fooled, its quite tasty. It does get busy during lunch so my co-workers and I try to get there around 11:30 to beat the crowd. I also found out they deliver. Cant wait to get tasty Thai food delivered right to my door. I highly recommend!

Best Thai place around! Prices are reasonable and food is attractively presented. Only downside is that at lunch they fill up quickly. Show up right at noon or you will wait for a table. Usually the rush thins out around 12:30-12:45 and you can get a table without waiting again. Only downside to the place is that it always seems very loud inside, probably because its small, has a lot of tables and not much to absorb the sound. Not a great place to chat, but a great place to eat!

Had a great experience at Sweet Basil Thai in Foster City last week. There wasnt much of a wait when I came here with my boyfriend for dinner on a weekday. Service was prompt and the food was tasty. Had chicken satay for our appetizer, which was juicy and flavorful. The peanut sauce was great too! I ordered the red chicken curry while my boyfriend ordered the coconut soup. Both dishes were good but I liked the soup better than my order. Will definitely be back soon! :)

Love this place. Generous portions, fast and friendly service and good solid thai food. Slightly disappointed they dont have more like papaya salad or beef salad but the warm hot food is very tasty. Prices are also very reasonable I think. This place does get super noisy though I guess because of the sound acoustics of the restaurant decor but recommend it for good thai food. Have to go early too because youre competing with folks working in the area (e.g. Visa).

I go to this restaurant quite a lot since I live close by. It has a great ambience for dining in, and is very good for take out as well. The food is very delicious, especially the masama curry and the yellow curry. My wife loves the pad Thai there. They also serve samosas for appetizers! The best part is that the price is very reasonable -- most dishes are under 10$ and the portion sizes are quite good too. It is my restaurant of choice for Thai food.

Delicious Thai food. All kind of spiciness for curry and different types of rice. The soup is also very good. Better to have a reservation, usually is full. The drinks are refreshing and tasty, I personally prefer to ask for Thai beer (shinga). Also the deserts are delicious, last time we tried all of them, I do recommend them all. Every time I visit the area, I come back to this place. They need to increase their business, to accommodate more clients.

Never been more disrespected in my life. The waitress somehow thought it was ok to continually make fun of me for being Irish. Even as i was trying to talk to the manager she continued to make her little leprechaun dances as "she called them" and ridiculing me for having a red face after having wine. Needless to say Ill be doordashing these ignorant people from now on because their food is that good.

Ive been here many times with my colleagues. This is definitely one of the most popular lunch places for local businesses. Standard Thai menu, but easy to order. It tend to get crowded and noisy after 11:30 during lunch time. Some times, you see long line of people waiting to get in. So come here early to secure your seating. When its getting noisy, you have to shot to get your words heard.

Some dishes are great, and the others arent that great. Id be very sure of what to eat here before walking in based on suggestions. I loved the panang curry and spicy fried rice but HATED how they prepared their pineapple fried rice! The Peach iced tea is worth trying as well. Vegetarian samosas for those who want to try Indian food in a Thai restaurant - not bad at all!

Right to the very top of Thai restaurants I would go back to or recommend to a friend. The food is excellent, fresh, just the right amount of spices and elegantly garnished well in excess of the modest prices here. The service is very good and pays attention to what you need at the table. Try this place, you will likely be very happy with Sweet Basil Thai.
