4.5 stars rounded up. Service is inconsistent and entrees are a bit pricey for the portions, but the outstanding food and drink quality makes up for it. OTHER PROS: - Mochas and hot cocoas are made from Tcho chocolate and are wonderful. Dark, rich & not cloyingly sweet! Generous portion, too. - Pour-over coffee was quite nice as well. - Desserts are consistently fresh and delicious (and theres a good variety of them). - The chicken-with-bacon sandwich I had today was so creamy and nicely flavored that Id go out of my way just to have that again. - Ample seating, even on weekends, including some outdoor tables as well. - Quiet music. You can have a comfortable conversation with others (or even just with yourself :). - When they make mistakes, they apologize profusely and make things right; today, due to a rather lengthy delay in getting the aforementioned chicken sandwich to my table, my server proactively comped it in full and added a free amazing dessert in addition; wow! (Jennifer, if youre reading this: props on the great customer service!) DOWNSIDES: - Seats are a bit dingy (cushions have seen better days) - My plate today was chipped. Makes me worry just a tad about quality control in general.

Finally, a French bakery on Castro! Pastries I tried are very close to what youd get at the corner parisian boulangerie. Owner and staff are very friendly. Sandwiches are pretty good too (tried the toasted chicken one), but if you order to go, make sure you have 15 minutes in front of you - service can be extremely slow. Go for the patisseries more than the limited choice of (rather expensive) bread. I tried the éclair au chocolat, meringue lemon pie, passion fruit cake (my favorite) and few tiny pastries. Bonus: no GMOs!

Great bakery and staff - loved the croissants and pastries Ive tried this far. French toast was better than most Ive ever had. Staff is very courteous. Edited on 7/18/17: Taking a star off. Last couple of visits havent lived up to expectations. The food is still good but can be a hit or miss when it comes to service. The staff is also unclear how the loyalty program works and told me to email the company to clarify rather than do it themselves.

Nice place to people watch and soak in the sun. Ordered a cold brew, ice latte and a tiramisu. Coffee was strong and good. The tiramisu on the other hand was below average. Given that its a place specializing in bakery, that was quite disappointing. Nice ambience and friendly service staff. A great place to hang, catch up with friends or work. Will visit again for the coffee and perhaps give another shot at the bakery stuff.

Nice indoor and outdoor space, but quality and prices are a bit misaligned. However, its still a good spot for desserts and a cup of coffee. Eating a meal can take a good amount of time as service is slow at peak hours, and the French place name service system is not the most ideal. I like it, but only when I want to sit back and relax and dont mind paying a little extra.

Nice little french style cafe in downtown Mountain View! The servers were great at giving us great suggestion, they even had mini lava cakes, which were amazing! I think I may have gotten mine fresh which made it super amazing! On nice days they open their windows, which provides great open seating for you to enjoy your desserts and snacks!

I little bit cheaper than Alexanders Patisserie, which is right down the street, but a lot worse in taste/quality. La PanotiQ is pricey and just...not very good. They definitely try very hard to look like a "high end" bakery/cafe, but then you try the food and its like, I paid that much for this? Save yourself a trip.

quint little joint. The desserts look wonderful and so is the taste of the sandwich that I got. However, the salmon pastry was initially served cold in the middle. We were offered a second one but the salmon had a really strong fish stink. It was very hard to eat. I wont recommend the Salmon here.

Lovely French bakery. Instead of the numbers for the table, you get the name of the french province. This place offers not only desserts but also mini pizza, quiche and other baked goodies. Raspberry Madagascar and tiramisu were not so fresh. I am not sure weather because I came after 8 pm.

Mediocre at best. The servers definitely need more training, and their service is a bit frazzled and disorganized. The pastries/bakery items are OK -- but hard to compete with Alexanders (whom I do not care for either), and even Starbucks, and now Peets!

I only tried one of the pastries and the flavor was close to excellent. The decor was reminiscent of some places in Paris, although it retained a certain uniqueness to the Bay Area. Service was average and can improve towards being more friendly.

Cute little french pastry cafe. I love their big open windows that make their shop so inviting. Their pastries are all very good, but their drinks are on the pricier side. Will definitely be back to try their ratatouille when I get a chance!

Amazing Chocolate cake! In general I would say amazing pastries. We shared a slice of cake and a pot of peppermint tea, which was just fantastic, highly recommend for both casual meetings and a sweet end to your date night.

Very elegant Parisian style cafe. The cakes are super yummy and prices reasonable, especially for the downtown Mountain View location. Service is great too. WiFi is free but you need a Facebook account to use it... bumper!

I love their mocha and hot chocolate! Their desserts are already so very delicious, you cannot go wrong with any of the choices. If in the mood for something more savory, try their salmon puff pastry with the salad.

This is a great place to go for some uniquely delicious desert cakes. The coffee here is pretty good, and their sandwiches are worth a try. The bread is freshly baked and the French baguettes have a unique crunch.

Love the eclaire au café! And service is way better than here in France! I give 4 and not 5 stars for the time I waited, given the fact that there was just one person before me. But Ill definetely come back!

Their speck sandwich is deliciously savory with salty ham and pickles. They offer a winning combination of half a speck and half a frisée salad for anyone who wants a nice balance of carbs and salad.

One of my favorite place to get coffee in Mountain View. The atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly. They have free WiFi and the sandwiches are simple and delicious. They have awesome pour over.

Restaraunt randomly denies orders when the staff doesnt feel like working. Happened twice and is pretty absurd. Sad, because the other two times that they felt like working, the food was good.

pastry was delicious, staff were friendly enough but sadly service was super slow :-( we got our coffee after about 10mins, but others were complaining at the counter after 20+ minute waits.

Lovely ambiance with good cofees and surprisingly good food. The Thun sandwich is amazing. Seems a bit understaffed at times, but the workers are friendly and seem to go as fast as they can.

This is a nice somewhat quiet cafe in the middle of a sometimes crowded street. Coffees are good and desserts are excellent. Much better quality and atmosphere than a standard starbucks.

Good French pastries. Ham cheese croissant needed more crunch, it was soft. Good drip coffee. Some more polish to customer service would make this place even better. I rate it $$ not $.
