I lived in New York for 8 years. At one point I rented a car and drove to pick up every famous chicken soup in Manhattan and Brooklyn, so I could once and for all settle it for myself. I think I got 6 different soups. Katz turned out to be the winner in my book. Ive since moved to la and forgotten all about the concept a good New York deli. Then one day sick as a dog I needed soup! New York famous deli was the closest spot and so I gave it a shot. Oh man. This is truly the best chicken soup Ive tried in Los Angeles OR New York. I get it every time Im under the weather and it does wonders. I should go here more when Im healthy. From what I hear everything else is just as good. Plus its run by a great New Yorker, Jimmy.

Food was delicious! Pastrami was tender but not overly greasy! The phili cheese steak was so good too! Potato salad was fantastic, it tasted like home made! Best potato salad I have tried! Service was on the slow side but it seems they are short on staff. When we got there @ 11:30am, the place was not busy but it took us an hour to get in and out. The lady helping was friendly. The owner (I assumed) was trying his best to get orders out and was quite rushed. I hope they can find more help since the food is really tasty. I would certainly go back for more!

Now if you are craving true Deli experience you need to visit this location. Today my girlfriend and I stopped by and had there lunch special. Consist of a sandwich (we had pastrami) potato salad, 1/4 pickle, and a soup. My girlfriend had mazball soup and I had the chicken soup. Everything is worth the trip and cost. Say hello to Jimmy when your there and let him know you saw this post. Oh the pastrami no words can describe the full flavor so I suggest it

Ive never known Pastrami to be so tender! The sandwich chains slice their Pastrami thin and it gets dry with not much taste. Not here, thick, moist slices broken up to make the best sandwich ever! Only one big problem, you have to get there 30 to 40 minutes before closing time. Ive been back a few times only to find the doors locked early.

When the hunger for Pastrami begins... it is only a matter of time until I find myself here. I highly suggest trying something other than the pastrami here simply because once you try the pastrami it will be the only thing you order, over & over. Words can not express how amazing the pastrami is... they should have sent a poet.

Feeling under the weather, I came for the Chicken Soup but fell for the pastrami sandwich! The owner Jim is very kind and loves his customers (he talked to every table openly and kindheartedly). Love this place and will be back many more for lunch!

Great little cafe! The food is delicious and super healthy. I had the vermicelli, turkey sausage lettuce wraps, kale salad. so yummy. The lemonade was great too and for desert we had the yogurt which was amazing. Will be coming back!

I love this place but wonder why theyre open early in the am instead of through dinner time....I would LOVE to pick up some matza ball soup for the family for dinner but theyre always closed by the time i get there.....

The food is absolutely awesome!! Absolute best Monty Cristo Ive had. The desserts are stupendous as well. Great conversation, nice atmosphere, friendly folk!! We will be back!!

Wonderful little deli! My favorite is the egg salad sandwich. Jimmy makes his own egg salad. His pastrami sandwich is as good as any I have ever tried.

Freaking fantastic. Awesome Corned Beef and Pastrami. I usually do not like anything but homemade potato salad but the potato salad here is awesome.

Were out of nearly everything. Was unapologetic and rude about what we wanted. Seemed really disorganized. Took about 40 minutes for 4 sandwiches.
