This place has been in Los Altos for a long time. I was there for late lunch and the boat is already closed. However, I can still order any sushi. I opt for a single item bento which include miso soup and salad. Its good for the price. Very friendly staffs and people walking in seems to be the usual. They all greet each other by name. Definitely has a bunch of usuals. Food quality is ok relative ti the price. You can get better sushi but it is also more expensive at other places.

We are regulars here. Weve been coming since the kids were little and now they are teens. Its family run and they treat you like friends whenever you come in. We love all the sushi but favorites are the Walnut Prawn, the Johnnys Special, Sumo California roll, and about 7-9 Gyozi plates for my oldest son. A little on the pricier side, but we always come back. Just not as often as we might because of price. Not out of the realm of reasonableness for price.

Just ate here yesterday for lunch. Very good service (had 3 different people serving me) at the sushi boat bar at early lunchtime (11:45). A bit pricey (its downtown Los Altos, afterall). If you wanna save money, go to Mikados on Main St for their bento. Very tasty sushi here. (Had Spicy Salmon Roll in addition to other stuff. Was the mashed up kind, which was a bit disappointing, but nice and spicy!)

My boyfriend and I come here all the time and know the owner by name! They always greet us when we come in, and know exactly what we want :) We always sit at the sushi bar and its a great place. They give you free tea, free ice cream at the end, and they also give you hot hand towels when you walk in! Great sushi, affordable prices, and great people. Fast service as well!

Ive been going to Sumo Sushi since I was 7. I absolutely love the place. Theres great food and service. Plus, they give you free ice cream at the end of your meal! Prices are reasonable and theres a great selection of sushi

This is the WORST sushi Ive ever had in my life (and that includes a different place where I got food poisoning). Terrible dry cold rice, mayonaise-soaked crab filling, and bland tasteless fish. I will never go back there.

Very nice neighborhood like restaurant. Been there many time on business and with my family. The staff is very nice, friendly and stable and the Sushi is good. The best experience (IMHO) is to eat off the boats.

Avoid the veggie ramen. It was bland and tasteless as hell. I cant speak for any of their other soups but I dont think its their strong point. Their walnut rolls and the butterfish is on point though!!

Fantastic and delicious! You can sit at the sushi bar, and order, then watch the chefs make it fresh and they hand it to you right over the counter! Its sooo good. I love Sumo.

Very family friendly. The kids love the boats, and dinner comes with ice cream for dessert. The sushi is also quite nice. Be sure to try the scallop sashimi.
