As a senior with some arthritis in my hands, I found the deshelling difficult to manage with the sauce added.!the pliers kept slipping from my fingers so I didnt eat much there. I had the foresight to bring along a ziplock filled with ice and an extra for leftovers. When I got home I used a hedge pliers and cut the crab in pieces and about two cups of crab meat. From this I made a crab salad with kale and quinoa that I cooked in a stock made from the shells. I would suggest that you offer the seafood with the sauce on the side. Also the rice and corn. I found the rice to be too salty.

Big Hot Crab. A cajun seafood restaurant, located in an old retro diner on the way into downtown Chico. Quite a surprise! We had a half pound of crab in garlic butter sauce, and a pound of shrimp, half pound of sausage, and some corn on the cob in the house sauce, both mild heat. Very good! The place looks super dated, but they keep it very clean. The service was good and the waiter was very kind. Make sure to be conservative with how hot you ask them to make it, even the mild will make your nose run.

Oh heck yeah. This place is where its at. So much good seafood in a bag or in a bun, your choice! But the bag is the best part, its a true southern experience and the service is pretty rad. Table is covered in wax paper and you dump a delicious mix of your choices of sea foods and sides onto it. I suggest you fold the wax paper ends so as to create a wall between you and the sauces. Do wear the bib, and be careful what you wish for when asking for spicy.

Hideous experience. Asked for crab of about 1.5 lbs. Kept getting told we could not have such a crab, but would not give us an alterative. Asked for two beers which were never put on order sheet Asked for bread for 2 year old grandson, but it was never delivered. Looked in kitchen saw cook scratch sweaty head with ungloved hand and he immediately went back to preparing food. Would never recommend this place to even my worst enemy.

Wow! The food here is amazing! My folks took me here for my birthday and I had a great experience. I ended up eating an entire pound of Snow Crab legs and some shrimp & wantons on top. All of it was killer and the service was super fast and friendly. I will mention that if you are afraid to get a little messy then this isnt the place for you. Otherwise check your manners at the door and grub down!

Funky little diner turned bad-ass cajun seafood joint. They are very attentive, though busy at times and can be a little understaffed, but busy because their food is excellent. Excellent food and service. Providing it continues the same, Ill be there often. Watch the prices, it can add up and get expensive. Lunch with my wife and 2 young boys last time crept up to >$80. But worth it.

Only pigs would eat there no atmosphere no plates no silverware no service grossly inflated prices anyone who eats there twice needs their head examined wouldnt know if the food tasted good or not because it was served like slop on a table I didnt know the health department allowed places like this to stay in business I cant believe people pay money to eat there.

This might just be my new favorite restaurant in town! I love the food here. We always get the Shrimp with House garlic butter sauce Mild and add sausage, corn and potatoes and order sides of white rice. Due note that their Spicy is HOT! Somedays even their mild sauces will get your eyes watering. Highly recommend this Chico restaurant.

The place is kinda awkward looking. Food was absolutely perfect spice level. About 3/4 of the way through the meal, I noticed something. The shrimp, is whole cooked. I was taking apart a shrimp, and noticed the poop vein(I work in a kitchen). Also, no napkins at our table..Its a very messy dinner..Had to walk across the restaurant.

The food is amazing, if extremely messy. Both the crab and shrimp were seasoned to perfection in cajun spices, super tender and hot, as advertised. The major drawback is the restrooms, which are shared with the pool of the adjacent hotel. Humid chlorine rich air is not what I want when I use the facilities.

The food was really delicious, but when I ate leftovers, (which had been totally refrigerated) I got a terrible case of food poisoning! I noticed a couple of the shrimp were kind of mushy, but didnt think about it til after getting violently ill. It will be years before I eat shrimp again.

Im sure that the food is great. It all sounded really good. Unfortunately could not eat here because they did not have an enticing gluten free option other than unseasoned boiled seafood. Hopeful in the future they may offer a spice blend alternative without wheat flour.

Most fun Ive had at a seafood stop, and the food was equally great! Its the kind of place I see myself taking lots of friends; be warned you will get messy eating here, but its worth the experience! Theres nothing quite like it in the rest of Northern California.

The seasonings and spices for the food are really delicious. It is super messy with no utensils and napkins but there is a wash station for after the meal. The staff are very friendly. I really enjoyed my meal.

A unique dinning experience. They cover your table with wax paper and dump the jumbo style pot of seafood on the table for all to share. The crab and shellfish is good for not being on the coast or fresh.

This was a fun place to take my 7 & 8yr old. They like seafood, so this was a neat experience for them. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Everything tasted great and we will be back again!
