Great priced Asian food with excellent service. I asked the waiter for his recommendation on a dish. He smirked a little and so did my friend, because who really asks this question at Chinese restaurants. I do! The waiter recommended a few things, but all I really remember hearing was his first recommendation, Mandarin Fried Chicken. Fried Chicken are magical words in my book. I saw that it came in a dinner plate so I ordered that, which is a really good deal. It comes with a soup, salad, and your choice of rice or chow nein. I chose soup and chow mein. The hot and sour soup was good- NO, it was great! And the Mandarin Fried Chicken is delicious. I didnt realize it would look like orange chicken, but it didnt matter, because it was delicious. My friend ordered the salt and pepper spareribs, and that was also delicious. He also ordered a side of rice, hot and sour soup, and a coke. Our total bill was $21. And we still had leftovers. Im very happy to have eaten here and would gladly go back.

Stopped by for dinner and was delighted. I ordered eggplant with hot sauce (a large cup of rice included), and it was plentiful and quite tasty (other veggies were there as well). Also included were a cup of veggie soup, a veggie spring roll, and a teapot of green tea, all for a whopping price of $6.80 including taxes. I was simply amazed. The ingredients were fresh and varied. While it was not a gastronomic experience, it was filling and pleasant, as was the service itself. Highly recommend.

I have eaten here for two years and have found that the food is always awesome and the people are even better. I ordered some delivery food because I was sick. When the owner delivered it and saw that I was sick, he absolutely refused to take a tip and just told me to feel better. Try the family style tofu!

Awesome food with really good prices. Serving sizes are enough for 2 people if you eat there, 1 1/2 people if you get it to go. The staff are always very friendly. Theyre really patient with the annoying Williard Jr. High kids that come in and make racist jokes too, amazingly. I love these people!

My guilty pleasure for both my stomach and wallet. I personally think this is the best americanized Chinese food in the area. The prices are very low. The service is excellent. The restaurant needs a face lift but it is all perfectly functional and Ill keep coming back.

We love the Mandarin Fried Chicken as well, but our favorite in that category is the Mandarin Fried Pork We go there every time we get to Berkeley. Sadly, I used to live a few blocks away from 1973 to 2008, but never noticed it for most of those years.

Fast and friendly staff with really fresh, delicious and msg free food. I had the Mandarin Chicken, delicious. Wife had the Broccoli and Beef, pretty good. And our roommate had the Sweet and Sour Pork. Best he has ever had.and he is from the bay area.

You can eat lunch here for $7, with only 50 cents in the parking meter, thats how fast they are. Good menu, good service. They have call-ahead take-out too!
