I went to lunch at Szechuan First with a couple of friends from work, one of which is from the Szechuan district of China, as usual. We like Szechuan First because it has good food at a reasonable price and my friend says it is very authentic. But after this experience I am not sure how I feel about this restaurant. They had some specials on a board by the cash register as they normally do. There was no prices listed so when the waiter came I asked how much the crab dish on top of the specials was. He said $14.95 and that the crab was deep fried. All of us understood that it was $14.95 and I would get about a pound of crab. This was a little high for lunch as most of the lunch menu is around $6.95, I decided to splurge and go ahead an order it . When the waiter was taking the order he asked us all if we wanted fried rice or white rice, I order white rice. When I got my lunch there were six crab legs in the shell, and a large empty shell for the body. The legs in the shell had been deep fried. The crab meat from the body was not on the plate just the 6 crab legs I still in the shell. The crab was probably a small snow crab the empty body shell on the plate was about 6 inches in diameter. When the bill came I was shocked to see that my bill for the crab was $39.95 and I was charged extra for the white rice. My entire bill for lunch was $45.95 for 1 person in a restaurant where everything on their lunch menu is around $6.95. We tired to discuss this with the waiter and management and they really didnt care that they had misrepresented the price. They informed me that it was 2 1/2 to 3 pounds of crab that I had gotten in those legs. I find this very hard to believe as normally I only eat 4 oz. of beef or pork, 6 oz. of fish, and chicken on leg or thigh, at a setting. I am totally amazed that I would be able to eat 2 1/2 pounds of crab at one setting. DO NOT EVER ORDER ANYTHING THAT IS NOT PRICED ON THE MENU. Make sure you now what you are paying so you can enjoy the good food. My friends say they knowingly ripped me off. I dont feel very good about the situation and want to prevent others from getting caught.

I have been smelling the wonderful aroma coming from this place every time I pass by and finally decided to give it a try. The location is somewhat out of view from the main road but easily located next to the great wall and 99 Ranch. I ordered the usual Szechuan foods I know. The Dan Dan Noodles, the string beans with pork, the szechuan beef and whenever I see there is wonton soup I usually ordered it. Same case here. Highlights: The server is very attentive. Order placed and food came promptly. The Dan Dan Noodles were nicely flavored and not too spicy. very good mouth feel. String bean pork was my favorite. Still slight crunch and tender strips of pork. The szechuan beef was ok. I thought a bit more seasoning and szechuan peppercorn would do better with this dish. Lowlights: The Wonton soup was a bit of a let down. It was kinda bland and could have added some white pepper. I didnt get the complimentary soup as I already ordering the soup. It is not the servers choice BUT mine if I wanted it. They should have asked. Lastly I asked them to pack up my leftover rice but they didnt. For those reasons I docked them a pretty little star. Overall the foods are good and I will definitely go back for something else I havent tried yet like the whole fish dishes they have there.

DO NOT DINE IN! i REPEAT DO NOT DINE IT!!!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER SEEN. please dont give business I dont want this to happen to anyone else. The employees are rude they have no intention of giving good or any customer service what so ever. All they care about is getting your order and giving you your food. No interaction, no smiles, nothing, just ok, ok, bam food. THIS IS ONE of the worst parts. As I am paying my bill. This guy had the nerve to ASK me to tip. After me already upset of the non-existing customer service. He even looks and POINTS at my receipt to tell me to tip. THIS IS THE WORST MOST RUDE PART. The waiter has the nerve TO STOP MY MOTHER, from leaving to ask for tip. my mother had to jokeingly say "wanna get kicked" and motioned a leg kicking several times to have him move. HE STOPPED HER, to tell her to tip him. DO NOT DINE IN, if you want their food take it to go. I will never come back even if you paid me.

Ive never written a single review, because I dont really care to share my experience, good or bad, but holy cow... I spend over an hour looking through past customers pictures to see what their menu is like, because they dont have one posted anywhere online. I finally figure it out, make the phone call to pick it up, and it doesnt stop ringing. Try that again, doesnt stop ringing. I have probably been calling for about 15 minutes with it constantly ringing (when my wife tries calling, hers does the long drawn out "beep beep beep" because I am taking up their main line). Do you guys know how to answer a phone and take an order? Extremely disappointed, I was looking forward to trying this place after all of the great reviews. But that is unbelievably frustrating.

Weve tried going there multiple times, however we keep getting waiters that would rather seat and wait on Asian customers before us. Last night we tried going there and a family of 5 came in after we had been there waiting for 10 minutes. They moved a family of 4 to the booth that had just opened up (the one we were waiting for) and cleared the larger table for the family of 5 that had come in after us. They did offer to let us share the table with the family of 5, when I said I wasnt interested in sharing a table they seated the family of 5 and we left in disgust. This kind of treatment has happened before to us at this restaurant. Dont go if you dont have an Asian with you.

I tried it out for the first time last weekend and the food was great. For those of you who eat spicy food, dont order extra spicy...its already at a good level. I made the mistake of ordering extra spicy thinking their regular spicy will be 3 out of 5 star on spice level. NOPE...it was 5 out of 5. So, the extra spicy was more like 7 out of 5. In any case, the food was great! I learned my lesson but I will definitely go back to try out more of their food and would definitely recommend anyone else to. The only reason I am giving this place 4 out of 5 stars is because the staff was OK in terms of service.

We went there during lunch, sat there for over 10 mins without anyone giving us water or taking our orders. Then we waited another 15 mins for our soup and when they come, they gave one of us the wrong soup. We then waited for over 30 mins and none of our ordered dishes show up at all so we left because we would have been late for work if we had kept on waiting. I ended up going back to work without lunch because there werent enough time. Then I got diarrhea from their watery "soup" overloaded with pepper to hide the watery taste and lack of favor. Stay away from this place.
