I had eaten catfish at the Flying Fish a couple of times in the past. It was OK but not good enough to make the FF a destination eatery. Yesterday (8-10-14) I was invited to the FF as someones guest and ordered the fried red snapper with Veracruz sauce. Red snapper is my favorite saltwater fish, Id never eaten a dish of it I hadnt enjoyed, some more than others. Who could possibly mess up the preparation of red snapper? The FF did an exceptional job of it. The fish was so overcooked it had no taste - well, cardboard maybe. It was certainly crisp - all the way through. If the Veracruz sauce came from can it was OK, if it was site-prepared they wasted their time. If I hadnt been a guest I would have sent it back after the third bite. I sampled a fellow guests fried oyster. It was vastly overcooked by at least a multiple of two and hard as a rock. In all fairness I will say the beer was cold and the oysters on-the-half-shell were rather tasty. I wont be going back unless thats where a date or a majority of a group wants to go and then Ill stick with the mediocre catfish - who can mess up catfish? Oh, wait......

Im at a complete loss trying to understand how this place gets such great reviews. The only flavor the food had was from the cocktail sauce, which was also bland compared to actual Cajun food. The filet was less than an eighth of an inch thick covered in bread and deep fried. The shrimp come out to about $2.50 each for rather small shrimp. The fries needed a ton of malt vinegar to get choked down. My tip is to hit The Faded Rose if you actually want Cajun. The $30 price of a meal that had less appeal than a McDonalds Filet-O-Fish, made the Flying Fish seem to be floating upside down in the bowl.

Big sign outside says Mudbugs, asked for some and was told with indignance that they didnt have any. I ordered fried oysters and a glass to get some lemonade. Lemonade so strong!! totally blew out my taste buds. I didnt know that oysters came in dime size, and hushpuppies nickel sized. The "billy bass" on the wall was slightly ammusing. The actual entrance door is not very well marked. NEVER AGAIN!

One of the best seafood places Ive ever been to!! I remember coming here almost two years ago on my first date with my boyfriend and it was the best! Thank you for making my first date a memorable one. LOL. Recently came back here a few months ago & I still had a great experience almost two years later. Fresh food, fair prices, & good customer service. Def wish I could come here more often!

6:30 p.m. on 2-9-17. The lobster stew was room temperature when it was served, so I walked it back to the counter and politely let the counter guy/expediter know. Without a word to me, he put the stew in a microwave and handed it back. The stew was overcooked, even before it went into the microwave. This place is a tourist trap. If I wanted microwaved food, Id eat at home.

French fries and catfish were mediocre the oil tasted old. Fish was fresh considering how many people they serve in a day but the oil was definitely overused. The fries taste like old Seafood which wasnt pleasing in the line and service was just ok this is coming from an out-of-towner who expected to have something that was well worth the wait and it was mediocre at best.

I would rate this restaurant in the negative numbers, but thats not an option. They fry everything in peanut oil! So I tried to order something grilled, but they grill in peanut oil also. How stupid especially when people have deadly peanut allergies. At least they post a sign warning you. So, if you have peanut allergies, dont even walk in the building.

I didnt like anything about this place. Waited in line for a while, so this would make you "think" the food was at least somewhat good. Right? Fast food fish places such as Captain Ds taste better & it is frozen (sad to say & they are lower end). Youll never know unless you try it yourself, but if you want good catfish, etc. go somewhere else & save your $$$

The best lunch of my cross-country trip--talapia tacos. The fish was succulent. The combination of cole slaw, pico de gallo, and whatever-else in the taco was inspired. The shell was crispy. And the beans and rice side was first-rate. Three big tacos, each with a talapia fillet--ten bucks! Did someone say the prices were high? Great stop. Close to I-40.

The fried catfish may be the headliner, but shrimp poboy steals the show. The hush puppies are classic and the fries are ordinary, but tasty. Featuring over ten years of abandoned Big Mouth Billy Bass mounted on the walls, the decor is decidedly southern and playful. Expect typical seafood joint features: rolls of paper towels and plastic baskets.

“Pleasantly surprising!” We showed up without reservations to try out this new place. We were met at the front by a very nice gentleman who explained our need for a reservation and then proceeded to find us a small table anyway. This same gentleman also waited on us in a very professional manner. We were well pleased with the food, service and...

Have eaten here since it opened a long time ago. They continue to deliver the best fried shrimp and catfish around. Always busy lunch time they crank it out!! Kinda dumpy inside but the food is A#1 awesome! If you like shrimp or catfish and you are downtown Little Rock this is the place to go- hands down the best!!

Order the first time through or you will leave like us...frustrated and still hungry. the food was like a toned down joes crab shack and that place sucks. Half a potato and half a corn on the cob per plate. Not worth the money. Seemed like just a gimmick restaurant. How this place became popular, i dont know.

if you want seafood done right this is the place. Most orders are cooked to order so your catfish basket is always fresh and hot when you pick it up. My favorite plates are the shrimp poboy, gumbo and grits, and the classic catfish basket. Be sure to tell them to make it snappy if you want a little heat.

This is a total experience. From a riverside view to the freshest of servings, Peter Brave consistently hits a "10" on my scale. While the evening meal of walleye is my favorite, I have tried many of the offerings at both lunch and supper and always, always, they are served to perfection and succulent.

A very nice local joint. My wife and I stopped by here for dinner one evening while in downtown Little Rock. The place was busy, as Im sure it usually is, but the line moved quickly and the food was ready in about ten minutes. Definitely will go back to the Flying Fish if Im in Little Rock again.

Expected great things, sadly disappointed. Was really looking forward to some good oysters. They were so overcooked as to be almost inedible. Catfish was good but nothing extraordinary. BBQ shrimp were tasty. Costs were high considering the quality and portions. May try once more.

We waited 30 minutes to get school cafeteria grade food. I ordered the grilled snapper and it tasted of burnt flesh. Almost like they rarely clean the grill grates. Others that tagged along ordered po boys and the bread had a similar burned in taste. Dont waste your hard earned
