Chunks of chicken. Big pieces, good vegetables. Not your standard pure corn starch meal. I do not know if they use MSG or not but after all the news about how MSG really is not bad for you. Who cares. That other guy that had a reaction, may want to look at something else. The food is not watered down and actually has spices. It is all flavored correctly. I figured when I ordered I would get the standard acceptable Chinese food but instead I was surprised at the quality. It is not expensive either. I would not take someone there to impress them, but if I wanted good Chinese food. This is the place I would go.

After reading all the great reviews, I gave this place a try with a large takeout order. The quality/freshness was ok. The taste was mediocre AND my wife and I both are sensitive to MSG -- we both had a typical MSG reaction and felt bad for the rest of the evening. I wont be going back. People are sensitive to MSG and most dont even though why they feel bad after eating some things. MSG is poison and should be banned in restaurants. If you want to use MSG at home, OK, thats your business.

Ive tried just about all the established Chinese places in NW Tucson/Marana and Mantis is the winner. Its a strip mall hole-in-the-wall with the kitchen pretty much in full view, so dont expect atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and everything is made to order. The Kung Pao brings heat and flavor. The shrimp lo mein is blessed with a pleasing sweetness. The fried rice is loaded with goodness. Only the spring rolls are just average, so consider the crab puffs instead.

Ordered the pepper beef through delivery, when it got here i dumped it out in a bowl to find only 9 small pieces of beef, and the entire container was filled with green bell peppers. When I called to say something I was yelled at and told that was pleanty of food and i could go to McDonalds if i wanted more food. Horrible customer service, and they give you lots of veggies in their dishes but very little meat (protein) dont go here!

This place is amazing. The first time I ordered was because the whole family was home sick and it was the only place that delivered, other than pizza. The food arrived well before the estimated delivery time and Oh man was the food good. We have since ordered a couple more times and the food always arrives before the time given, which is great. My family will not be eating anywhere else for Chinese food. This is our go to place.

I would say this is one of the better tasting Chinese food in town. Nice chicken fried rice. Try their house soup to get a tasty combination of chicken, shrimp and beef - very good. War Wonton (with shrimp) and Wonton soup are also very good. General Taos chicken is the traditional breaded style and very tasty. We eat here frequently. I read a review about MSG. My wife is also allergic to MSG and no problems eating here.

I like to judge Chinese food based on vegetable egg foo young and vegetable fried rice. This restaurant does not disappoint. The patties were huge and the sauce was delicious. The fried rice was perfect not dry or greasy. Mantis is very generous with the vegetables you dont just get peas, carrots & onions... I highly recommend!!!!

Absolutely the best Chinese and or vietnamese food in town. Fresh ingredients and large portions at great prices and some very well balanced flavors.never been disappointed in the 5 years Ive been going.fried rice is superb along with the spicy garlic wings and pho. luncheon Is easily the best value anywhere in town .

So... Ive become addicted to Mantis! I went there once and fell in love with it. Its a very small restaurant and has a very "hole in the wall" fell, which I love( not some huge chain franchise). The food is great and the owners know me by name!! Try it and you wont be disappointed.

One of the best hot and sour soup I have ever had. Ordered the firecracker chicken it is really good. Fried rice nothing special should have saved my $1.00 and just had steamed. All in all really good though. Trying the pho next time.

Amazing! The first time we ordered for pick up I called at 8:00 p.m and it was ready by 8:15 p.m. Cheap and you get a lot of quality food! This is my new go to Chinese restaurant. Highly recommended!

While in the country side of the Chinese province of Ding Dong, I would eat Chinese food that would stimulate every taste bud. I have never experienced such ecstasy, until I ate at Mantis.

The Chinese from Mantis is far superior to any other Chinese I have had while in Tucson (6 years). The meat is much better and the veggies are fresher. Highly recommended!!
