I took my Mother out for Christmas dinner to China Chili. We are new to the Phoenix Metro area and I found this place online. They accept reservations, but we didnt make one. We arrived at 6:10 pm and were told there would be a 30 minute wait. The place was PACKED! Every seat was full, there was a line for both the dining area and take-out. We got a good vibe that this is the place to be for Christmas dinner. The place was clean and had customers from all age groups and nationalities. It was exactly 30 minutes later we were seated. The menu is large and they will tailor any dish to your liking, so if something is marked spicy, they will make it to your tastes. That is an awesome treat since my Mom cant eat anything spicy. We started with wonton soup and egg rolls for apps. We liked the soup, she liked the egg rolls. I am not an egg roll fan so I wasnt expecting to like them. I tried them and they were very crispy. We could not decide on a single dish so we ordered three entrees and sampled from each. All were EXCELLENT. One order of wonton soup was enough for both of us and leftovers. I ordered the braised tofu, she ordered the almond and cashew nut prawns and we shared the vegetables deluxe. Like I said, we only sampled from them and had enough to eat leftovers for two days (we dont eat a lot at a time). She ordered a cola and I had an iced tea. Our bill was only $40 and change. That is amazing! We will definitely go back.

Ok, I am just giving a review from a Chineses standpoint. I am sure for most Americans the food tastes good. But for me, the food tastes like another Chinese Buffet food. My heart dropped when the first dish I ordered came to table: Ma Po tofu. Ma in Chinese means numb and the basic flavor of the dish should be spicy and numb. But all I tasted was sour. My friends were dissapointed as well. This is a rather basic Chinese dish and they cannot even handle it. We also ordered spicy garlic eggplant and garlic shredded pork. It seems that they use the same sauce to cook every dish because they all taste sour, without any garlicy flavor in it. The only dish that was bearable was the chicken lettuce wrap, but even that, it was just mediocre. I have had better ones in American restaurants. In a nutshell, this place is definitely not what I expected, a place I could get a taste of home when nostalgia strikes me. It is just another so-so Chinese buffet down the street. I will not go back again.

You might drive past this place. There isnt parking in the front, so it almost looks closed. It has a small lot in the back and I parked right by the entrance around 11:15. However, 30 minutes later, the lot was full and so was the restaurant. People were parking on the sidewalk to get in. I got the corn chowder with my lunch and it was a mix of corn and egg drop soups. It was ok, but I wanted to save room for lunch. I ordered the mongolian beef and it must have been 10 minutes later that it showed up. The egg roll that came with it was disappointing. It was full of soggy cabbage. However, the entre was full of beef, green onions and plenty of spice. The rice was a little dry, but I usually mix it with the entre. So, it wasnt a concern. Overall I would recommend this place if your are in the downtown Phoenix area. The service is fast and so is the lunch. With an Iced Tea, I paid around $9 for lunch. Thats a good deal for fast and tasty.

We had dinner here last night. Food was just OK. Service on the other hand was horrible. The worst service Ive ever experienced. We were put into a corner table and forgotten. Our food arrived and no one ever came back to our table. No refills on drinks. No refill on rice. They seemed pretty busy but at the same time...we arrived when it wasnt busy. Finally we waved someone down to refill our drinks and ask for our check. Apparently when your ready to pay, all attention is on YOU. I will never be eating here again. Advise to anyone who plans to eat here....dont settle for the corner round table. You will be forgotten. We even made a comment to the person we waved down to say we were forgotten and he disregarded our comment. Didnt apologize or anything.

China Chili has fantastic food! However, for some strange reason the address is wrong on this site. Its actually at Third street and Flower which is just south of Osborn. Ive had quite a few items off of the menu and have enjoyed everything from the prawns to Mongolian Beef. My favorite is the House Special Chicken with a very tasty garlic sauce. Once seated, your order comes out lightning fast, but beware of coming at precisely noon... parking can be a nightmare. If possible try to arrive at 11:30 AM for the best parking and no wait for seating.

Second time Ive been here and I cannot fathom how they have the ratings they have. I can only guess that most people have never had real Chinese food. The hot and sour soup was nasty. I had sweet and sour pork and it was just ok. The sauce tasted like it was from a can. Maybe people come here for the value. That it does have. Ill stick to the restaurants by the asian supermarket. You know, where all the Asians eat. After spending a year in Korea, maybe Im just a little bit picky about Asian food and I really struggle with Americanized Asian food.

Disappointing. Egg drop soup instead of delicate flavors was overpowered by veggies destroying any real flavor - bland at best. Chicken and Tomatoes was sweeter than sweet& sour sauce- in fact too sweet to eat. House Special Chicken without chili or other hot spices has a bland sauce- no taste at all. The breaded chicken is crusted poorly with bread not adhering to the meat.- the crunchy texture is inappropriate. With the reviews we read are disappointment was great.

I contacted China Chili to cater our office Holiday Party (it was a suggestion from a coworker) and they did not dissappoint. They were friendly on the phone and accomodated my substitutions when I placed the order. They showed up 10 minutes early and the food was DELICIOUS. Its not easy to please 20 people with only 4 dishes but they did, and did it well. Best of all, it was the cheapest catering bill weve ever had. I will certainly be ordering from them again!

Typical Chinese comfort food. Sizzling rice soup is a must-have. There are a few weirder dishes in the menu, alongside standbys like Kung Pao chicken and Broccoli Beef. Its a bit uneven though, Ive had both really good meals there and strangely bland ones. I wouldnt fall the decor "traditional" so much as just weird. The rainbow-color plastic chandeliers are strange. It has all the ambience of a midrange hotel banquet room.
