A few years ago a 24/7 IHOP was located here which was great, and there were always people coming in and out. It was really disappointing when the Normal Diner replaced it. I work at ASU so when my coworkers and I want to have lunch its the closest place to go. We only have a hour lunch though so when we go, we reserve a table and let the staff know our time limitations. We got there at 12:05, they took our order at 12:15 and we didnt get our food until 12:45. We had to request our checks at the same time the food came, and to-go boxes. The staff are not especially competent, it takes a long time to get food and the decor is just tacky. We went on a Friday during lunch hour so you would think it would be pretty busy but there only about 5 groups of people in the whole restaurant. Its really too bad because the diner is so close to ASU and Gammage but I am not planning on going again.

Got there when it opened. 6:30am. First person to walk through the doors. Ordered coffee and egg breakfast. Sat at the counter looking into kitchen. Saw my breakfast plate was up and sitting for 11 minutes before the waitress put down the toast. She kept walking by 9 plates with food while taking more orders. She also had time to talk on the cell phone. Never got my breakfast. Left at 7:05. Not her fault. This is a serious management issue. I was given a lame excuse that there short handed. By the time I left there were several more people there. Not one offered to help. By the time I left there were 13 people in the dinner. Not a large amount for 2 waitress. I cant comment on the food. Although the coffee was good. First cup in 51 months.

Ive been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally got around to trying it. There were several dishes on the menu that looked interesting but nothing that would make me come back. The Denver omelet was okay but the ingredients werent mixed into the egg, it was more like a egg taco. Not a big deal but you have to make an effort to make sure you get a bite that has more than just egg in it. The breakfast potatoes were okay but were a little overdone. The staff was very friendly and the coffee was good.

Ive been eating at the Normal since October 2016. The food is good, the drinks are great and the service is exceptional. I had the meatloaf special today. It took a while to come out but the wait was worth it. Amy, as always, was a fantastic waitress. She knew what I wanted and had my order in before I sat down. They are open for breakfast and lunch. I wish they would do more to advertise the place to reach more of the community. Right now, its a great hotel restaurant, but it could be so much more than that.

I was in today Tuesday, May 10 around 11am with my family wanting to check this place out and enjoy a good local breafast. Hadnt been since it was ihop. Long story short, The attitude of our server was terrible, the coffee was soo strong couldnt even drink it (thought Circle Ks better) the food was ok except for the hash browns which seemed as if the were "recycled". Between the server and the coffee & hash browns made us not want to come back. Were are local people and really hope someone is paying attention.

Holy mackerel, what a gem! This place is amazing, from start (the crispy cheese curds) to finish (todays special was chocolate ganache cheesecake). And everything in between was fresh, flavorful and well above average. The Chipotle sauce on the fried chicken was flavorful, not spicy. But the Hatch chili sauce on the chicken-fried steak is not for the faint of heart; my lips are still tingling! Excellent service, awesome decor. Cant wait to go back...maybe tomorrow for breakfast!

Food and atmosphere deserve five stars. Were locals and have been here three times so far. Each time, same disinterested service and just an overall feeling of disorganization. I look forward to the iced coffee (nice & strong) and the green chili omelette is amazing. My other half tends to get the crispy chicken sandwich which is also very good. I hope management takes notice to this and a few of the other reviews to iron out some kinks in the process/workflow.

The food here was awesome! Their Belgian waffles tasted great, although I wish I ordered the red velvet waffles instead! Their eggs were also really good. The wait staff were all friendly but definitely have an overall vibe of being disorganized. Chances are therell be a wait when you go, even if theres open tables. Took off one star for that, but the food definitely made up for the lack of organization.

Their chicken and waffles are unreal. The waffles are red velvet, crispy on the edges. The chicken breading is seasoned to be slightly spicy and its amazing. Great combination of food all together. Cool old school diner feel. Prices are a little high but it probably has to do with it being a stones throw from ASU campus. *changed from 5 to 4 stars. Hot chocolate is terrible, its just syrup in water.

This place is awesome. The interior decor feels very warm and homey. I came here for the first time with my family for ASU orientation - I was beyond pleased. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food came out quick and our server, Elise consistently checked in with us, re-filling our coffee and asking if we needed anything else. This is my new favorite spot! I will definitely be back.

This place is amazing! From the cute decor, to the flavorful options, everything is awesome. I came during a lunch rush, thinking I may have chosen a bad time. However, the staff was very attentive and the food came out quickly. I had the hollandaise chicken sandwich, and fell in l-o-v-e!!! That chicken is to die for! I would definitely recommend to all of my friends.

This place is good and every time I have been here I have been happy but the last time I went I got the same thing I normally do which is the chicken and waffles and the chicken tasted sour. It was very unpleasant. I have been there several times before that though and the food was really good and the staff is always very nice but usually pretty slow

The kids had chicken and waffles, I had the Minimum Wage - great food, quick service, and reasonable price for what you get. There are not that many places right next to campus that I would feel comfortable taking visitors to, but this place tops the list. Comfort food on a rainy night at the Normal Diner was just right.

I went here recently and had a very positive experience. The coffee was great and our waitress, Elise, was cheerful and very polite. I ordered the avocado toast and would recommend it, the toast itself is actually pretty sweet tasting which was surprising. Would recommend dining here if you are visiting Tempe.

Anything but normal! I love their fun spin on food, red velvet waffles and fried cheese curds!! Yum! Lots of great things on the menu, normal foods too for you basic bs ;) I love the decor too, it matches the hotels cute and playful feel! And what more could you ask for with easy parking??
