I came here due to all the wonderful things I had heard about this little sushi joint. Let me say that I was extremely let down by not only the service but the sushi as well. I honestly regret not going to the sushi joint across the street. When I walked in I had to approach the hostess who was to busy on her phone to see me standing there. After getting seated at the bar it took a moment before I was acknowledged by any of the staff, this restaurant is far to small for that to be acceptable. One I was finally approached the hostess was nice but not very informative or suggestive to help me with highlighting their most delicious rolls. I ordered the Chirashi and a tuna roll. The tuna roll was warm (even the tuna on the inside) this was weird and it made me a little hesitant to eat. As far as taste goes it was very similar to any other tuna roll youd get. The Chirashi (sashimi combo item) was actually well presented, however they charged me extra for requesting no squid or octopus. Although the presentation was appealing I was not impressed with the quality of the fish. It was not cool but room temperature fish. It was also cut sloppily and for the 19 dollars they charged me I expected more fish. I only had 8 pieces! It was mostly sushi rice and tobiko. I would not suggest this place nor will I be returning. There are far better sushi restaurants. Ones where the chefs will talk to you and make your business feel wanted.

Ive tried most of the sushi places through Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Tempe. This is far and away the best restaurant for sushi available here. My family and I have eaten here for years for this very reason. While the sushi is amazing, consider trying other dishes. I dont have many foods I would call comfort food, but my favorite dish in the whole world that Ive tried is their Okinawa Soba with spicy vodka sauce ($10-12, but enough to last two meals for me, and I think its absolutely worth $5-$6 per meal). They have another soba dish with chicken and tempura that Im not terribly fond of, so judge dishes individually. Its not cheap, but if like most people you dont eat sushi all the time, you shouldnt find it unreasonable. If your primary concern is price and not taste for a date or the like, then I would suggest a popular sushi chain instead of this family-run place. Id rather eat sushi less frequently and go here though.

My husband and I have been looking for nearly a year now to find a sushi restaurant good enough to "call home". Hiro might as well have said "welcome home" when we entered. From start to finish, everything was superb. The eddamme was perfect color, temperature and consistency. Our sushi was delivered very quickly and it was AMAZING! I knew just by the color of the fish that it was going to be amazing. It was so fresh and so yummy! All the fish varieties that we had- salmon, white tail, tuna and the shrimp were to die for. We live in Gilbert, but the near 30-minute drive was WELL worth it. No need to waste any more time looking for our favorite. Oh and by-the-way, Hiro and his staff were all amazing, friendly and fast! Love love love it!

I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and a side of California Roll. I received my order of Teriyaki Chicken but not the California Roll. It took the waitress almost 5 minutes to come back. I told her I also ordered a California Roll and she looked at me like daggers. It was another 5 minutes that went by so I asked another waiter who was in the area to look into it. FInally it came after getting his attention. I decided to give the place a second chance so I called in an order. I was told that my order would be ready soon. Another lady came in after me for a take-out order also. She got her order before I got mine. It took 10 minutes after I arrived to get my order and I was on time. When I got back to eat the meal it had a hair in it.

Mr Hiro is a Master. And Mr Hiros sushi chefs are craftsmen. You know the best sushi in a Japanese restaurant is served at the counter. Ordering a piece or two at a time and watching your choices being custom-made is very satisfying. I didnt have a lot of time today to sit so I called in an order to go. I ate all my ginger first as Im driving away. So good and then the smooth buttery mouthfuls of spicy salmon served in the familiar rolls at each red light. There is an exquisite simplicity and finesse of their fish and rice. A purist paradise.

As someone who has lived in Japan for some time and eaten at many types of restaurants all over Honshu, I have to say this is the most authentic Japanese restaurant outside of Japan Ive had the pleasure of eating after living for years in the Phoenix valley. And unlike virtually any other Japanese restaurant you will find around here, you can order a delicious and authentic Japanese meal with no sushi involved, if you so choose - but then youd be missing out on expertly balanced traditional sushi and unique masterpieces like the Hiro Roll.

This is the place to go for sushi in the Phoenix area. This was hands down the best sushi Ive found here. Mind you Ive never been to Japan for authentic sushi but from the places Ive been to here and all over California this easily takes first place. The rolls, nigiri, and sashimi are all amazing there and the mochi for dessert is a great way to finish a wonderful lunch/dinner. Expect a bit of a wait if you go for dinner on a weekend.

Great Japanese flavors! My husband and I were here for dinner on Sunday and we loved it. Being vegetarian, our choices were limited. Nevertheless, the Vegetable Tempura and Vegetable Sushi Rolls served with the soy and dipping sauce was beyond yummy! Staff was extremely friendly and courteous and service was quick. Great ambience too! Well surely be making this place a regular!

Its very hard to find a decent sushi restaurant in the middle of the desert. The quality of the food was over my expectations, but the service and the demeanor of the staff is why I will keep coming back. I was recommended to come here by a good friend and I am thankful for his suggestion and this restaurant for helping me to find genuine sushi and service in Arizona.

I was passing through Phoenix, and had one of the best sushi dinners Ive tasted. I ordered the chirashi, which came beautifully presented, and vegetable tempura, which was perfectly cooked. The fish was outstanding, full of flavor and very fine texture. Even the egg was very tasty with a hint of sweetness. The most surprising thing? It was take out! O_o

Very slow service. Small portions. Very trendy crowd, so not recommended for "regular people". I also dont recommend this for people who are having a first time it is sushi bar. This is not the right place to go to learn. Experience there was certainly not great. They lost half of our order. It was very disorganized.

Always fantastic! This place never disappoints. I highly recommend the fresh daily specials, sushi & sashimi; all of which are top notch... rolls are very good but not some of my all time favs... wish I had taken a pic of the eggplant w/ miso as its unique & super delicious. Service is always great!
