My wife and I decided to try a new restaurant. While headed to a different restaurant we drove past Hanabi (the old Outpost restaurant). We decided to change our plans and try it out. When I pulled up I noticed there were only three cars in the very run down parking lot. I told my wife that it looks "iffy", but being adventurous we went inside. Even on entry I was still questioning our decision. Once inside the restaurant it is clean and remodeled. We started our meal with the Tonkotsu ramen. It was pretty good. I am not a ramen aficionado, but it was better than other places I have been. We also order a few sushi rolls which were 1/2 price. The sushi took a while, which I am unsure why since there were only two other occupied tables. When the rolls arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I would say above average for the local market. We tried the Utah Roll, Playboy, Jupiter, and Dynamite. All were good. The size of the rolls were a little smaller. They were a good deal at 1/2 price. At full price they would be overpriced.

We went here on a Groupon deal, at lunch time on a Friday, we were the only people there, it was a late lunch around 2 though. The staff were very nice. My girlfriend and her niece are Asian so I trust their judgment when it comes to Asian food. They said it was ok, wouldnt go again as there is much better at other places. They got bento boxes, my girlfriend didnt finish the sushi, (which she normally cant get enough of) and I got the chicken teriyaki lunch. My portion was small but tasted ok, average.. Again the staff were very nice, wanted to like the food, but I doubt well be back.

Horrible Experience!!! I was really looking forward to going to this sushi place as the reviews were so good. The reviews dont represent the experience I had whatsoever....The food took over an hour to arrive at the table, and when it did the waitress was even confused on who of my party got which sushi roll. The food was okay at best, and the management didnt make any attempt to remedy the situation other than saying sorry. If you want a better experience I would recommend other places that are better managed.

You wouldnt expect this place to be a great sushi restaurant based on the State St-Esque look of the building but Ive come here about 5 times now and Ive been pleased every time. The fish is fresh and they always have good deals on rolls. The staff is friendly and they even gave my party tempura ice cream at the end because the staff recognized us as regulars. Hanabi also has about the best bowl of ramen that Ive had in Utah. Eat at Hanabi if youre looking for good sushi in the south end of The Valley.

What a high quality place! The owners were very friendly and the restaurant itself was clean and decorated well. I tried all of their veggie rolls - cucumber, avocado, tempura, and their specialty tofu/avocado/pepper/lime veggie roll (I forgot the exact name.) They were all so delicious and flavorful! My date got a couple of the traditional sushi rolls and loved them as well. The chef even made the dragon roll look like a real dragon complete with eyes and tail, so cute! Highly recommend this place!

Great restaurant! Kept clean, fish fresh, and especially very appetizing visually. The owner couple are friendly, funny and generous. One of their rolls, called "Confidential" roll, was the best in my opinion, out of four rolls Ive had. It has a hint of spiciness, refreshing taste of lime, and crunches and cucumbers add to the crunchy texture. It has shrimp, so for those who love tempura shrimp I recommend this roll. It may be a bit pricey, but its totally worth it!

After waiting forever in an overcrowded restaurant north of this we left and drove south, stopping at Hanabi. The place looked empty! We are so glad we came by. The staff was very friendly, it was quiet and clean, our service was great and the food was beautiful. We ordered lots of sushi rolls. Their happy hour special was a great deal. At the end they surprised us with a free fried Ice cream for desert! Dont wait forever down the road!

I love this restaurant! the service is awesome and they always take such good care of you! The atmosphere here too is very cozy and very clean. The food is alas I very high quality and the price is very reasonable! My favorite rolls are the kiss of fire rolls and the dynamite roll they are lit on fire and brought on a sizzling plate on fire! If youre looking for a great restaurant to eat sushi come here!

Ive been to over 50 sushi restaurants in Utah, and would rate this place as about average. The sushi rolls werent very unique, freshness was middling, and ingredients were okay quality. Nothing bad, nothing great. I stated that I dont like the place because the atmosphere is run-down and poor quality. The whole place looks like an old shack, and is very unappealing to eat in.

Awesome restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great quality sushi for reasonable price, plus they have 50% off deals on certain rolls. We ordered 6 different types of rolls which totaled around $30 and was more than enough for the two of us. The menu includes other non-sushi items as well; mainly Japanese with a few Korean options.

Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants the best quality sushi. The Hanabi sushi roll was amazing because the rice paper went really well with orther ingredinet. The cliantro complimented the roll. Loved the service and the interior of the restaurant. Absolutely recommend. Love to go again

This is a fabulous new sushi restaurant that is family run and I want everyone to go there, so they make a go of this restaurant. The sushi is very fresh and the chef has added some unique flavors to his rolls. I had the Sunset roll and the bite of lemon added refreshing note.

The piace was empty at eight thirty on a Saturday night, which always gives a bad impression. The outside is not maintained, it really should be weeded to give the place more decor. I thought they were closed at first. Anyway the food is a four.
