Not an Americanized Mexican restaurant like Garcias or Dos Gringos. So if your uncomfortable with a place that is not awe inspiring and aimed to impress foodies and millennials, or located in some trendy hipster area, avoid Pitic. If you want to know what its like to eat your abulelitas food when you visit her in Mexico, or eat at a restaurant that will drop you in the middle of a the local pueblos eatery south of the border, her you go. The food is awesome, the rice taste just like Moms, the horchata is incredible. The place is clean, the staff is friendly. People do hang out there, guess what, thats what they do back home. In my dads old neighborhood in Juarez there was a restaurant that everyone from the Barrio would go for dates, soccer games, dances or to just hang out and talk with your friends. Give it a shot, and expect the food to impress you. You want home made, mexican food, Pitic is it.

Bad location for a creepy restaurant and people. Bunch of people hanging out at this place blocking the doorway. Not a white person in sight. Just awfully creepy. Not to mention the inside if this place is too ghetto looking. With all the money these people are making, my advice: Clean the damn place or remodel it as well as relocate. Or maybe I am wrong and they will go out of business, or fail an food inspection. I am never coming here again. Old nasty atmosphere. Just the kind of place you will have to inspect your food or hope to god you dont fall ill. There are plenty of nice and cleaner Mexican restaurants around Phoenix I would rather recommend to others. Those are Nandos in Gilbert, El Palacio in Gilbert and Garcias. The atmosphere and location is unacceptable. Please! Remodel!!! Food took too long to get to table ,staff not very friendly they could care less to make the experience little more friendly. Food was horrible as well my granddaughter order chicken and french fries and must have Lisa Saving Grace you making tacos the fry the stuff up just horrible. I for one will never go back Ill give it one star but they dont deserve that.

Pretty good price for what you get. Likely would give it 5 stars if the plates were $1 cheaper... but I guess its to be expected in Downtown Phx to pay a bit more. Food was taste, served quickly, and we got lots of chips. Their decor is really neat, bonus for someone looking for the "authentic" Mexican experience.

This is one of my favorite places to eat, but lately they have been skimping on the food and the food isnt hot, just regular temperature. Also Im not happy that today is the first Friday of Lent and they dont have capirotada.... Its on the menu, but they are making it tomorrow? Hum go figure... Smh!

I like this place. The only complaint I have is that the drinks are too expensive. The whole restaurant is a little too expensive, for what it is. Food is very good though. I love beans and they have the best beans in town. You should also try the caldo de res (beef soup); they are known for it.

I like the music @ the bar. Plus the food is delicious. Owners are very good people. Been coming here since 1999. I have no complaints except for 1 masera. She steals your chair & gives it to other people when its packed. Guess she gotta make her side money. Other then that its happening

This place has a delicious menue and a authentic setting its comfortable and in the south side. I recommend this place to anyone who knows real Mexican food and the night life is lit plenary if fine women and cold beers.

Staff was friendly but tired. Cheese enchiladas were made with yellow cheese (I prefer white) but they were tasty none the less. Chips were perfect and the two salsas they serve were delicious..especially mixed together

Caldo de res. Chinguizo, and the tampiqueña are the best. One of the oldest and best authentic mexican restaurants in Arizona. Lunch specials change daily.
