Do not try this place. I warn you because I doubt you have or will EVER run into an owner as nasty as this guy. Or food this bad. When you put the two together its the worst I have ever encountered. My wife and I went to this place to try what we hoped would be good fish and chips. The fish was terrible and the batter was so tough I literally couldnt cut it with a knife. This is NOT an exaggeration. To even try to eat it I broke it open with my hands. I couldnt crumble the batter with my hands. It was thick and tough as though they didnt cook it right. We ate some of the fish that fell out of the center. The French frys were ok so we ate some of them. This dish is 13 bucks so we hoped to get at least something for our money. The waitress came by asking how if everything was alright. I told her the fish was the worst I ever had and I asked for the check. She didnt say anything as she walked away . A few minutes later the owner came to the table and got very sarcastic and angry. He asked why I had eaten the food if it was so bad. I told him we had just tried it; finding it almost impossible to eat the batter. He got smart and asked if I had ever been in a restaurant before. He became very angry saying we should have not tried the food if it was that bad and that they would have given us different food. I never thought of asking them to do that because I never tried his fish before and thought they just made it like this. The owner in his anger said he would " just comp the food " and walked away. I intended to pay and also never thought of asking him to comp the food. I will never go back to this dump again and warn you to find another place to spend your time and money. If anything goes wrong you will deal with a real jackass that you wouldnt expect to find in a restaurant.

EDIT 6/8: So a Id come here once or twice a month to eat with friends and never experienced anything negative, unfortunately a new policy has been enacted where they card you and to even enter the building you have to be 21+. As someone who doesnt drink, is under the age to, but still enjoys the food, atmosphere and pub its frustrating to say the least. I went in last saturday with my family and some friends, intending on dinner and some drinks in a great pub but we were denied service as two of us (out of a group of ten) were ages 20 and 19, respectively. I still stand by the opinion that this is a great place, but unfortunately George and Dragon seems to undervalue the patronage of those who dont drink. Great pub, great food and friendly staff. I went in at lunchtime at the same time as a large pride event had begun across the street, so its understandable that the staff was spread a little thin. As for people complaining about "ethnic, non british food" , in the UK there has been a massive cultural exchange between the UK and India/Pakistan since the 1800s. So it kinda makes sense a pub would offer some curry or hummus along with their standard fare. If youre not into food like that, simply order the fish and chips or bangers and mash. All in all, this place is wonderful.

Worst Service ever! Went to lunch with my coworkers and I have never had a dining experience than i did here. To start it took 20 minutes to even get a drink order (even though the place was completely empty) Second when the waitress did come and take our order thats about the only time she visited our table besides to deliver the meal. When we did get our meal (after another 30 minutes of waiting) all of it was cold!!!! I had chips and curry sauce and the curry was stone cold. I thought about sending it back but wasnt sure if it would ever come back. When we informed the waitress that the food was cold her response was "oh is it? well that sucks" She didnt even offer to take it back. Not once were we offered a refill either. When my coworker asked for a side of sauce the waitress brought it after she had finished her food and said. "oh well looks like your finished but ill leave it here in case you want. WORST PLACE EVER!!!!! I have hada better experience at a McDonalds than i had here

The food was good. And the bartender was excellent. But the patrons leave something to be desired. I was sitting there enjoying a peaceful afternoon about 3:30. When a woman asked me could I move over a seat so she could sit with her date (mind you I am alone) I obliged her no questions asked. I then found the seat I moved to was defective. I switched seats from some further down on the bar that were empty (which I carried myself). I then proceeded to enjoy myself again but could not because I realized how rude this woman had been. I then said to her I felt she was rude because she shouldnt have asked me that there were seats available on the other end of the bar where her and her date could have sat together. Im black and I feel she only did this to upsurp her whiteness in this establishment. What a rude individual!!!!

driving through phoenix, came across this english pub, so we went in for a drink, the staff was so nice and friendly, and had a real mix off english drinks, are waitress showed us to are table, the menu was quite amazing, english and american food, so I went for the good old fish and chips, which to my amazement, was cooked in a beer batter, the way it should be cooked. after we had finished, the owner of the bar walked in, is name was david wimberley, asked us where we came from, told him we came from thanet, he said, so do I, small world, so if you are anywere near phoenix, pop in and say hello, you will be surprised, I would like to thank are server, not waitress, casey, for looking after us.

Having come here off and on over the years I cant say the renovation fixed issues. Food is still a gamble, its either fresh and hot or noticeably bad. They still run out of liquor and dont reorder regularly, the bathrooms are still a mess and unclean, and its still a bunch of young women that dont know how to serve patrons. Ive gone solo, wth small groups of 4-6, and happy hours of twenty plus patrons. Service is still shoddy no matter what the size or needs of your party. Two stars because the bartenders are still good people who work hard. If you sit at the actual bar you will get good service. This isnt a dive worth the hype, its just a convenient location.

What happened to this place. The food is no longer British and the service is simply awful. The last time I went there they got all our orders wrong brought wrong food and for some of us no food at all. It was not even particularly busy. The previous time we walked out our waiter completely ignored us and nobody batted an eyelid when we got up and walked out. The food is mediocre at best and it used to be so good and a real treat to go there. They have obviously decided to attract the drinking clientele who know nothing about what British food tastes like. The fish and chips were just awful. I wont be back.
