I love this place. The food is excellent from the appetizers to pizza to dessert. In addition to great food, they have the best beer menu around and absolutely fantastic service. Its also in a great location next to the Ogden river with outdoor seating and live music. Their buffalo wings are flavorful with slightly spicy sauce and a creamy blue-cheese dressing. The chile verde nachos are not only a lot of bang for your buck, but they taste fantastic. Additionally, the chips are made at Slackwater and are quite yummy. As far as the pizza, you really cant go wrong here. Their BBQ pork pizza is one of my favorites. Its their excellent pizza crust with tender, sweet BBQ pork covered in cheese and some Thai slaw on top. They also offer more traditional pizzas as well as a build your own option. In general, I find desserts at restaurants to be overpriced and generic. But, the 2nd Ward Delight (I think thats the name) is one of the best desserts Ive ever had. The cookie crust, with chocolate custard, whip cream, caramel, and more make for the perfect fix for any sweet tooth. Its a decent portion and easily shared with 1 or 2 other people. Every time Ive dined at Slackwater, which is quite a bit, the service has been great. The staff and owners are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. If youre wanting more information about the food or beers, theyre able to give recommendations and provide descriptions.

We were hungry for pizza and walked to Slackwater from our hotel based upon the beer selection posted online. When we got there, we were very surprised. The venue was in a great location and was extremely nice. There was some outdoor seating and the whole back of the restaurant opens up. We sat in the back, where there was some live music playing (2 guitarists). The beer selection was fantastic. 6 or so Utah craft beers. In addition to those, there were approximately 70 or so bottled beers. Lots of Utah, Idaho, and Oregon breweries. Our server was hilarious, and very helpful. We got the Margarita pizza and a Cesar salad. The pizza used all super fresh ingredients, wasnt expecting that and was quite impressed. Paired with the ambiance and price point, this is a place you dont want to miss.

We spotted at Slackwater on a Sunday afternoon after hiking. Even though they were somewhat busy, we were seated immediately. They gave us brunch, standard, and beer/ drinks menus. So many options! There were 4-5 different choices in even the smallest groupings, so you had plenty of beers and other things to try. Service was very nice, efficient, and friendly without being too intrusive. We sat on the patio, and the atmosphere was great, not too loud, but obviously being enjoyed by everyone there. We both ordered pizza. My husband got the Cardiac while I got the Taste of the Islands. Both were fantastic. We loved the crust; not too thin, not too chewy. Perfectly baked. And the red sauce was spicy/ tangy, not sweet. We will definitely go back, and recommend it to all.

We have actually been here multiple times since we moved to Ogden, this place is great. My husband loves coming here for dinner and their great craft beer selection. Last time we visited I tried a sour cucumber beer I found on the menu, I hated it, was not for me, but our waiter was nice and accommodating he grabbed me a different beer to enjoy and I continued apologizing , he was very nice about the situation. The place is usually busy for dinner but despite the many customers we have never had to wait for a table and the staff has always taken care of us and gotten our food and drinks in a timely manner. The architecture and design of the establishment is also great, I spend most of my dinner admiring the walls and ceilings. Excellent place for lunch, dinner, or just hanging out!

The very first time I went to Slackwater (when they first opened), I was not a fan. I thought the pizza had a strange fried dough texture. However, we have been many, many times since and its quickly become our favorite restaurant in Ogden. Its one of the few places I can get a Lambic and enjoy it cold right on the river parkway. I havent had their sangria yet but it looks good. We usually go with a pizza, but if you get the nachos dont order anything else. They are HUGE and should be considered a meal; unless you are splitting them with at least three other people. The specials are usually worth trying; and for the first time we took a pizza and did the calzone option. I turned the This is Sparta! pizza into a calzone, and it was fantastic.

Slackwater serves some of the best pizza crust/breadsticks youll ever eat. Their toppings are fresh, their individual sized pizzas/calzones are reasonable in portion, and the crust and bread is transcendentally great. They arent the cheapest, but they are about what youd pay at the California Pizza Kitchen -- with far better product. Why the four stars? The staff, while mostly friendly, can be a bit obnoxious and isnt always the most responsive. Often times I also leave wondering if Ill need a Tetanus shot due to some of the people handling the food. All in all, a great place that is always crowded. I recommend ordering take-out. You still get the amazing food without dealing with the wait staff or crowded wait.

This place is so yummy! Its one of our favorites, especially in the summer when we can sit out by the river. Weekend nights inside are really loud, but the music is usually good. They have a great selection of beers on tap which accompanies a great meal. I love their roasted garlic appetizer. Its so amazing! The sandwiches are OK, but the salads and pizza are awesome. We have gone a couple times for brunch and the brunch food is not my favorite. Id stick with the regular menu. The tikka masala pizza is my favorite. The crust has a really yummy and chewy texture. Weve never had bad service there either, so we go back regularly. This place is worth a try!

Ogden is great for the outdoorsy type: great trails, great climbing, and great running on the Ogden River Parkway. But, few stores will openly greet you fresh off a run with open arms. Slackwater does. We come here regularly after our runs for a post workout treat. They have never thumbed their nose at our perspiration, and have always treated us like any other patron! Our go to is the Sparta and a house salad. My ex even comes here just for the salad, the veggies are so fresh! And the staff! Always attentive and sweet, without rushing us or being overbearing. Definitely a winner in my book!

My wife raved about this place so we went to eat. She still thought it was great but I was less then impressed. I thought the pizza crust was flavorless and not worth the price. We had people standing around our table talking to their friends at adjacent tables closing walkways to other customers and staff. This also made it even louder then it already was and I would have to lean in to talk to my wife at the quietest of times. The only nice thing about the place was that the noise, for some unknown reason, made the hour we were there pass quickly. I wont go back but Im sure my wife will.
