I enjoyed this pub as much as I enjoy its sister pub, Tim Finnegans. The pints of Guinness are poured pretty well, the food (like Finnegans) is just incredible, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed, and a bit of pseudo-posh with interesting period pieces adorning the walls, and wall receptacles at each table for charging your phones. Each receptacle has built-in USB ports, so all one really needs is a USB charging cable. The menu is almost identical to Finnegans, but The Kettle Black has made some brilliant additions and a slight price increase. Nothing drastic, and the increase is justified given the location and clientele. Ill happily return here and claim The Kettle Black as my other Irish pub. (Tim Finnegans is my first choice!) The issue with the temperature in the restrooms has been fixed! No more 15 degree difference in temperatures between the pub and the pisser! The Kettle Black is well on its way to becoming a downtown destination and institution.

Excellent menu considering its bar food. I couldnt have enjoyed the selection of super local craft beers and chill vibe of the place. The pretzel app is delish. But...the service door to the kitchen, TMI. I saw 2 different people eating (off plates?) leaning with their butts on the counter where they set finished plates of food (right in front of the door). My fish n chips sat there for some time, I mentioned something to the server guy (one of the eaters) and he was like no I made them remake the fries so the rest sat there. Well coleslaw was above warm, fish had gotten too hard a crust with some wet/soft spots, and even though fries were fresh they were way under cooked and inedible :( Guy walked past my empty pint glass 3 times before asking if I wanted a refill on the 4th pass

Our new Meetup Group went to The Kettle Black tonight for our first gathering. We were so thrilled with this fabulous new restaurant! First of all, they were so awesome about welcoming such a large group. Our initial count was 24, but we wound up with 16. The GM, Jason, and owner, Tom, were wonderful. Our server was amazing and treated us so warmly and was very attentive. The food is unbelievable from my Wasabi Caesar to the Pork Belly Sliders and Fish and Chips. Two people in our party ordered pasta but the kitchen was out of it. They went above and beyond by comping the two meals because the kitchen was out of the pasta. I highly recommend this wonderful new addition to the Phoenix restaurant scene.

I was visiting from out of town and came across this pub. I received a great greeting from one of the owners who informed me there would be a bit of a wait but offered to give me a call when my table was ready (my party was at another bar at the time). I put down my name and number and received a call that my table was ready not 15 minutes later. We were seated, received great service, and had the best burger Ive ever had (bacon onion burger). When we left the owner thanked me again by name and asked us to come back and see them again. Only in Phoenix for 4 days, but we might just have to do it. Phenomenal restaurant.

Had a few martinis definitely over shaken. Had the main entree chicken whatever the hell it was. Totally overcooked. Carrots were processed baby carrots and cold. Ask the lady for some soft butter and she looked at me like I was nuts and brought me a small chunk of almost Frozen butter. Obviously you have somebody managing the Kitchen and Bar that is new to the business. Food orders were not busy and it took 40 minutes to get a 10-minute overcooked Pecan chicken item. Another restaurant with 3 TVs that is all they have on was Sports!. Would I come here again ,? Probably, if it was the last restaurant on Earth.

Came across this place while looking for someplace else. Nice casual bar, open from the front, showing hockey and basketball playoffs, so okay. Six beers on tap, better selection in bottles scrawled on the blackboard. For some reason wedding photos going on - brides beautiful, lucky guy. The steak salad better than I expected (its all about exceeding expectations these days) and the service quick, friendly and efficient. Behind the bar a great selection of Bulleits, High West, Knows and Tallamore Dews. Think I will have a bit before heading home.

Kettle Black is a great addition to downtown. Love the interior, and the food has all been great. Service at the bar is a bit better than the service at the tables. Food-wise, I really liked the fish and chips. Obviously its fried, but it still feels light and not greasy. I also liked the pretzel + cheese, but can you really go wrong with carbs and cheese? Pork belly sliders a solid choice as well. They look small but are super filling and flavorful. The chicken kebabs are good too, and a great option when youre trying to be a bit healthier.

This was a pretty cool spot that I stumbled upon while waiting for my family to arrive into Phoenix. I was the first one here by a few hours and I perched myself at the bar for a few hours, while the bartender Thomas was graciously willing to put up with me. I ordered the wings and Californian club sandwich, both of which were very good. My brother and his friend met me and they ordered the Philly fries, which were very good. The decor of the restaurant was really cool and all the staff super friendly. Definitely recommend.

We planned a night out in Downtown Phoenix and decided to give this place a whirl for dinner. Everything on the menu looked amazing, but I was trying to be good so I ordered the Steak Salad. It was quite delicious. We also ordered a Bavarian Pretzel and and Garlic Fries for the table which were also amazing! I love the decor and the atmosphere of this place and will definitely return next time Im in downtown Phoenix!

Unfortunately, it feels like a generic pub. While its not bad, it doesnt have anything that grabs your attention like Valley Bar, Hannys, Milkbar, Crescent Ballroom or Blues Hound. The beer selection was good and the appetizers tasty, but again, theres nothing thats going to make me think of it over other nearby selections. Which is a shame, since it technically has nothing bad going for it.

My husband and I were waiting forever for our order ...! And when he brought our food...his steak was cold and didnt taste good !!!! My salmon was over cooked...!! We didnt have worse steak ever than in this place! What did they do for clients ? They have to do everything to get them back. Will never come back to that pub again !!!

The bar was beautifully dark and Irish. I sat at the bar and was waited on promptly by Steven. My mussels were incredible I was sad to down the last drop of broth. My bar neighbors had the steak fries an appetizer which looked incredible and could of fed four. Cant wait for my next adventure trying thier selection of whiskeys.

Staff super-friendly, good prices, and just love the English pub ambience. Not a super-complicated menu. My wife and I got the fish and chips, was perfect. Son got the bacon onion burger, his wife the turkey burger. All good. Also loved the music, but Im kind of a 70s metal head.
