So far- theres nowhere Id rather be during St. Pattys day. Its amazing the food is incredible- fairly priced and the drinks are great! -try the red ale!- and the stage is amazing. I love seeing Warsaw/ the Rebel Celts play there- ( I come in from out of town for it) and its always amazing. The trivia nights are fantastic too! the bartenders are also pretty amazing... the bathrooms are kept clean- and theres even a sweet fish tank. The one thing I might mention is that I havent ordered a lot of mixed drinks there so Im not sure how they are with sugary or less noticeable alcoholic beverages for those just starting. I will say they have a great poor- not too heavy but you can tell its a drink. The atmosphere is great too even if you are drinking, its a great safe place, and I think hey make a great effort to get people home safely or to take taxis. the owner is active and talk to patrons... really involved. Im having a hard time critiquing on what someone might find lacking- it really is that great of a place. Large, spacious, warm, patio, its great. I really suggest going and experiencing this one of a kind place. ( I have a lot of favorite locals in the mid west to west coast states as I try to travel lot- and this is in the top 5 for sure)

Worst service experience ever. The food was good, and the atmosphere is fun, however the waitress (Lisa) was terrible. It took over a half hour to serve drinks, she couldnt remember anything, she visibly favored another table and served them at least 6 times in between even coming to check on us. Also, our food sat under a warming lamp for 15 minutes (we could see it there) while she went and did other things like clearing off a table, or serving her preferred table at least 3 more times. I would really liked to have become a regular there, but being treated like they didnt want us there really does not incite the desire to go back.

Unfortunately, I used to frequent Piper Down twice a week minimum. One dark haired, pig tailed bar tender with inexperience ruined it for a several of us... Changing the big screen to Tru TV w/ shrimp as the cover story over the Jazz vs. Suns game in the middle of the third quarter?? Im sorry, but early 20s bartenders might be hot (maybe?), but apparently this one is completely inexperienced and because they have a policy that bartenders have domain over TV regardless of their patrons, Im not going there to catch a game or beer for that matter. Needless to say the Lucky 13 (135 W. 1300 S.) caters to fans of sports.

Piper Down is my favorite pub in the Salt Lake area. Its an "Old World Pub" not just an "Irish Pub". Ive travelled all throughout the British Isles and you could set this place down anywhere in the the UK/Ireland -Dublin, Belfast, Galway, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, York, London- and it would hold its own with the locals. The drinks are great, the food is superior, the music is killer and the atmosphere is the BEST! Whenever Im feeling a little nostalgic for the Old Country, Piper Down is always spot on!

Good place to grab a beer, they know how to pour a proper Guinness here. However, theres a reason the food is cheap, it sucks. I had the Shepards Pie the last time I went and it was more like Shepards soup...no seasoning and totally bland. I dont expect the food to be amazing at a place like this but for Christs sake, how hard is it to season food? Id recommend Piper Down to grab a drink and have a good time, just dont come in hungry.

Feels the way a pub should. Exposed brick walls, vents, lots of wood, and Irish/Scottish pride. Food was among the best pub fare Ive had. Like pub grub with a gourmet twist. I particularly enjoyed the bangers and mash. My husband and I dont drink, but if we did I am sure the drinks would be great, too. Service was okay, not too attentive, which is a good thing at a place like this. Would definitely recommend.

Just to address a prior complaint, bagpipes are actually north african, the irish have their own version as well as their own tartan and kilt, but this is an auld world pub, not necessarily irish. Obviously I love this place. The owner is very particular and has a great staff. Good food, good music, great place to just hang out or great to party on the weekend.

Great atmosphere, good food, and lots of cool friendly people. Definitely my favorite as far as the irishy bars go. Dont go expecting Branston Pickle with your food, however, because they are always out of it, and like alot of businesses, they dont mind charging you full price for lunches that are missing things as if you wouldnt notice.

Worst customer service! Like others have said, The atmosphere is cool but the customer service sucks. My entire group was there last night, and our waitress came to us TWICE in 2 hours! What a complete joke. Lazy staff. Its a shame, because they could make good money and better tips if they got off their ass.

No where else in the valley like it. Just overall awesomeness. The food is fantastic, the drinks are the best (Regimental Red beer in the summer for me, Irish coffee in the winter). They keep the tap lines clean, so you never get funky beer (looking at you, Urban Lounge). And the rooftop patio is beautiful!

With great Irish pub eats and an affordable beer & cocktail selection, a visit to Piper Down is the perfect way to chill and relax with some good company. Be aware, however, that parking is somewhat hard to find and you may need to park farther away in the back streets--about a 3-5 minute walk to the door.

Piper is one of those bar where you can go any night of the week and you know youre going to have a good time. Whether you like live bands, karaoke, or just watching a game on their plethora of flat screen TVs, theres something for everyone here. Their food is quite good, and their prices are reasonable.

The prices are reasonable, drinks and food are cheap. I didnt love the selection of pub foods, and not much to offer if you want more than something to nibble on. They do have trivia night which might be a good time, although I have not been yet. Atmosphere was ok. A little loud, but mostly comfortable.

Piper down is one of the best pubs in salt lake city!! Great food, great customers!! Only reason is not 5 stars is they do require to hold your card for the night! But, great atmosphere! Smoking area is warm! And, wait staff at times a bit slow! Especially, on bingo nights!!

My uncle once told me, "if youre traveling anywhere in the world and you dont know what to do, go to an Irish Pub, theyll take good care of you". This could not be more true of Piper Down. Plus, they have a kickass brunch! Its no wonder that so many locals call this place home!
