El Amigo seems to be a locally focused restaurant, not really aimed at travelers, but welcoming and friendly. The dining room we ate in was a little dark. The menu had the full complement of the standard Mexican restaurant food you find in any Mexican restaurant in most of the US. The food was perfectly fine. It wasnt stellar, but it also wasnt awful. I would happily eat here again.

Food was good, but there wasnt enough of it. I ordered a chimichanga dinner and my sweetie ordered a hot and spicy burrito dinner thinking there would be rice and beans. There wasnt. We spent $33 with tip and got 2 sodas, a chimichanga, a burrito, a small queso, and a basket of chips. He didnt even get a refill on his soda.

I was very skeptic!! We were staying at the Holiday Inn and were going to order pizza. We took the chance and went to the El Amigo!! Glad we did! The kids loved it, and so did we! The reviews were correct! It was very authentic and I could tell they took pride in their food they served.

I liked what I ordered, but I was the only one and I was the only person whose order wasnt wrong in some way or other. The margaritas tasted of cheap pre-mix but the chips were light and crispy and the rice was great. I got the chicken verde burritos and thought they were great.

Holy cow, what a little diamond in the rough! My girlfriend and I got a takeout order, and it was absolutely delicious. If youre staying in the group of hotels in Hope Hull, make it a point to try this unassuming jewel of a restaurant.

El Amigo is a great little local restaurant for the Hope Hull exit options. Its clean, simple, safe, down to earth restaurant that serves good homemade food. They can accommodate large groups as well. Truck stop is next door.

Wasnt too bad. We had the chile relleno and arroz com pollo with lemonade and chips and salsa. The server was fairly nice and he was very fast with the orders. Would be willing to come back again sometime.

Holy guacamole Batman, okay when you walk in you wont be impressed, but dayum if you know what AUTHENTIC mexican food is then you will love this place. Do ask for the guacamole it is awesome ! ! !

The food was great. However, the Texas Margherita was bitter than bitter with a watered down taste and glass overflowing with ice. The waiter was also bitter! Mad props to the cooks!

Store bought taco shells and dead flies in the windowsill next to the table. We ordered a taco salad and got this soup like mess. Absolutely disappointing. Service was atrocious.
